And so I stopped what I was doing and you know I backed it up a few seconds to like make sure that it was Ryan that farted and not me, and then I see that it was just a fly that buzz really close by the microphone... It was kind of disappointing because I was hoping that he farted... Or that I farted. I was hoping that at least one of us farted.

When I lived off Vine in Hollywood there was an old dude- black blind crack head who basically lived in front of a 7/11. He sat infront everyday for for years while I was at that apartment and was surely there for a while before I moved there because everyone knew of him. Poor guy just held a big gulp cup and asked for change when he heard car doors close or footsteps. Most treated him like he had Ebola but a few regulars would bless him with food/drinks or sometimes cash. I would always try to ask him how he was and give him a couple spare 1s. It got to a point where he knew who I was by my voice when he wasn’t completely cracked out. He eventually asked me to buy him crack with a wrinkled up 20 dollar bill he had late one night I was on a beer run. I told him I didn’t know where to find it and couldn’t anyways because my girlfriend at the time was in my car. He thanked me; I was confused since I couldn’t get the drugs. He then went on to tell me majority of the time the people who he befriends and asks will say yes and then never come back with the money or rocks and just avoid him.
That guy really made an impact on my life. It made me appreciate my family and the other loved ones I have in my life who would never let me get to that point. The night before I left that spot in Hollywood I got him a room for a week at this place called the Budget In right on vine st and gave him a 100$. I was at my new place in Westwood not even 48 hours later and the fucking budget in called to tell me I was being charged a fee because the dude was arrested inside the room. Turns out he was smoking crack with two escorts and the police were called. If I remember correctly this place had bullet proof glass between the check in desk and the line the check in so idk who would call the police on a guy smoking and getting hookers. I was so mad. I drove by that 7/11 about 2 months later visiting some friends out in Hollywood and sure enough the dude was back sitting infront of the 7/11. It he’s still alive I’m willing to bet he’s still outside that 7/11 daily, walking down to the local taco stand, cactus taqueria, scavenging food people weren’t going to finish.
