I just watched Gregory Peck’s characterization of Fr Hugh. I saw this film decades ago. It touches me deeply in this time of “seconds before midnight” the world faces. What a brave and brilliantly clever man. I know there are more people like him now just as they were with him then. Prayers of peace for us all. 🥲💕

They decided to keep away pictures of the Mufti of Jerusalem visiting Auschwitz, and his rank as sn D.D. general, because the current and former head of the Palestinian authority have proclaimed that they are carrying his torch. This looks bad politically, because it makes the left on Israel look stupid. Currently, the Irish government is very anti Israeli. It may be another political move. If you are willing to hide an S.S. general for your political goal, you can hide a righteous among the nations for political goals. And if you say how is that possible? The Israeli governments have been right winged for year's! Remember that the Israeli government was modeled after the British. Then watch "Yes Minister", and "Yes Prime Minister". This will explain how not only that's possible, it's virtually inevitable.
My grandmother was a Flaherty from Kerry born in 1911. Her mother was a Foley. Great Uncle Will sewed cash inside of a full length fox coat and took a boat back to the Southlands that was collected in New York Taverns. Fr. O'Flaherty has the same nose as my dad and uncles. 👃 I'm fortunate to have been able to scramble around the ruins of Aughnanure...and to have avoided the 2 men restoring a doorway. It looks like a different place in recent pictures. I should have asked for a job. I got offered a place on a team restoring walls in Provence, France, back in 1991. I could have transferred to a more fair climate where the salmon run for the hills... There was a creek near the castle, I recall, with deeply cut banks on either side, almost like a canal... Boy did those fish get lucky. 🤣 I think I'm one of only a few that sees the benefit of drystack masonry here in Indiana.
His resemblance to a teacher in De La Salle (Brother Edmond) who unusually was not a pervert but a good teacher, is remarkable. I wonder is he is a relative?
Check out the movie "The Scarlet & Black" with Gregory Peck playing him. In terms of physical similarities in appearance the actor Karl Malden would gave been ideal to play him.
