DJI NEO - WATERY GRAVE - GUTTER CLEANING FOR SOME FRIENDS

- So I took my Neo out for a nice flight in amongst the trees, it unfortunately crashed into a tree and ended up in the water. The reason for this may have been a lack of satellite communication, or the sensor and the bottom of the drone was not getting enough light and therefore went into Tarzan mode!
In the afternoon, I had to run out to RWB to do a gutter cleaning job for some friends, the job went very well, but I need to go back and fix some guttering leaks.
Glad the little Neo survived buddy 👍. You can fly it over water, just not too close (over 10 metres is best 😊)

Very close call there with the drone landing in the water. I was very happy and relieved to see that it doesn't appear to be compromised in any noticeable way. Putting it in front of your car heater very soon was a very good move because it began the drying process before the water had a chance to get around inside the workings, very well done my friend. And the gutter cleaning job that you performed later on was another very good job very well done. The homeowners appeared to be very nice people and were very pleased with your work I think. You shall remain friends, I am certain of that. Thank you as always for giving us another entertaining and interesting video of what you are up to. Hi, Terry. Yes, this was a close call, too close for my liking! But all ended up well, thankfully. As for the gutter cleaning job, that went well, I have to go back at some point and fix a leak, should be a straight forward fix (hopefully) and they are super people too. I have another job tomorrow to do, and the following day, and then on Friday we go to Turkey for a week, I am really looking forward to that.

Impressive recovery of the drone Andy. I think others have had similar problems flying over water. The problem seems to be reflections at low heights confusing the sensors, but higher it is better - sometimes....
Yes, I've flown over water from a height with no problem, lower level seems to be more difficult. I'll be more careful next time.
Best thing to do with a water landing is to remove the battery straight away

Hiya Andy i think most dji drones can survive water crashes 9 times out of 10 because the motherboard are coated in something to seal them the moisture in the air. Usually the battery that dies not the drone. So it looks like your battery is still working so that's a bonus for you. Keep up the good work :)
@Rizla2016Drone Hi. I think I got lucky, I will need to be more careful when I fly low and over water. The DJI make a great drone, and their cameras are good as well.

Im a home washer in new zealand for the last 8 years. I just got one for me. Gave it to the staff. And i got the mini 4k
Should of sold a biocide treatment while up there. We just use 8gpm machines and flush gutters with volume. Only had one home have a small leak. Over 5k clients served
Hey ANDY I hope things over there are not getting too much more crazy as far as govt. I know that in less than a month we here will have some unrest. Hi Janet. We have stopped feeding the trolls, and now it seems they have lost interest, which is a good thing.
As for the world going mad, it's getting worse as every week goes by, Israel and Iran could very well go head to head, this would probably lead into a conflict that drags all nations into ww3.
It's not looking good, but we must trust God and try to live in peace.

@@MadDogsandEnglishman I agree on what you said including the world. I can only hope that your individual freedom in UK for now is reasonable. We are becoming the enemy day by day. I am thankful however that the public school my grand kids attend is very conservative. Just miles away it is very different. We are in a rural community and many of the ppl that attend my daughter's church attend the school. They even say the pledge of allegiance and national anthem without removing GOD. I think that is illegal in nearby schools. I cannot imagine living in ISRAEL running to the bomb shelters daily when sirens go off. How could you sleep especially if you had little ones? Well this is why we must do all we can to live closer to Christ and not allow the world to rob us of His fellowship.Thanks so much for trusting me. JD
too close to water you need more hight,but still great video.the best invention from dji would be a totally silent drone.

I think it was the low light. This exact thing happened to me indoors with lights turned down low

You should know this, I knew this before I bought the Neo. Don't fly me over water.
How bizarre it doesn’t like going over water. Surely it shouldn’t matter?
@Andyb2379 Hi, Andy. It's something to do with the sensors at the bottom of the drone. It needs to know what is below it to fly in a normal way. Water I guess messes this up.
Flying too low to water makes the sensors not read height correctly as it acts like a mirror also you are meant to have VLOS at all times with a drone.
@chrisgc77 I had VLOS on it at all times, and so did Randall, my watcher.

@@MadDogsandEnglishmanwow. How rude you are. I’m offering you advice. I’ve seen some other videos of yours and it’s clear you don’t have VLOS at all times.
If you want to ruin it for responsible drone pilots that’s up to you. People who don’t use VLOS will just ultimately ruin it for other drone users as it’s an accident waiting to happen.
I fly drones myself so I know how easy it is to lose sight of a drone.
If you can’t take advice and get defensive then you are clearly beyond help.
