    You can also change the configuration of the usb MADI interface with the internal DIP switch to either MADI Cat5 1to32 USB 33to64 or USB1to32 and MADI 33to64. it's in the user manual.

    Bruce, you can change the settings in the Si Impact (dipswitches on the output card) to assign the usb output channels as 1-32 so that you don't have the problem you had. See the user's guide. It explains how to set the dip switches. You set them to off, off, on, off.

    Hi Bruce thank's for video. I 've a question. In my case I use stage box SC i32/12 and Cubase Pro as a DAW. During my multichannel records I observed a drop outs in records through out the channels feed with phantom power. Its onset is about 4-5x/30 minutes record. Please do you any similar experience (or somebody from the discussion?) And of course how it is possible to solve it? Thank's in advance. Jan.

  • @txworshipleader
    @txworshipleader 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video. I'm using the SI in my church as well, and I want to record live services in my DAW (using GarageBand presently as well). Question I have is this -- I'm using the Aviom card in my console and presently have my channels routed to Aviom channels. If I attempt to map them to USB patch channels, I get the message that I have "unpatch" them first from the Aviom assignments. Is there not a way to have the channels patched to both simultaneously for live recording without impacting the IEM feeds to my musicians?

    • @SheaEagle
      @SheaEagle 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The user's guide explains how to set up you DAW and the Si Impact for this.

    • @SheaEagle
      @SheaEagle 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to be sure you have downloaded the correct Soundcraft driver to your computer for the DAW to use and then make sure that the DAW recognizes the driver and the Soundcraft SI Impact.

    • @SheaEagle
      @SheaEagle 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have windows you need to be sure that the Si is recognized for recording - and for playback in you sound settings in the control panel.

  • @SermonsAdamShafer
    @SermonsAdamShafer 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This was very helpful, thank you. My volume into the DAW is very low and I can't figure out how to raise it. Any suggestions? I understand that it is sending a pre-EQ, pre-effects, etc... signal, but the volume is so low I can hardly do anything with it in the DAW.

    • @SheaEagle
      @SheaEagle 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is. Soundcraft says that they did this on purpose to provide plenty of headroom. But just turn up the gain on your input channels and make sure you are getting a good signal level on each Si channel that you are sending to the DAW. The fader level does not matter because the signal from the Si to the DAW does no go through the faders. It leaves the Si right after the gain control.

    Howdy all. One question regarding the SI Impact and connecting to a DAW. I've connected mine, have set up the MADI Channels 33-64 and I see the signal coming into the DAW. And it records. When it comes to playing back what I've recorded, I'm not seeing anything or hearing anything coming back to the board. Do I have to change something on the board to hear what has been recorded? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • @IndieLagoneofficial

    Hi Bruce,
    I have assigned all of the channels but when I look up for assignment in my DAW (Adobe Auditions) it only gives option for Combo or (combined) tracks not individual tracks. So in turn it only allows me to record the mix from the Impact not individual tracks. Any suggestions? Soundcraft support were not at all helpful. They said it was a setting inside the DAW program. I dont think the DAW is combining all of the inputs into a single combined track. Any help would be awesome if you have any to give. God Bless.

Is there a way to route the output tracks back to tracks 1 through 32 so that you hear the audio playing back with the same mix settings that you had while recording?

    • @SheaEagle

      Yes. The tracks will come back in to the channels. Take a look at the user's guide on the Soundcraft site for the Si Impact.

      Hello, get a USB to XLR cable , then plug it to the boards inputs. Then assign the fader to that channel input.
      2 - get an Audio interface (Scarlett 2i2) connect the computer to the interface and then to an input on the board. With this audio interface you’ll have more control over the volume coming out from computer plus this device comes with Ableton lite free download(all you need is the serial #) I hope this helps.! Have a good day and project.

      I would select the master fader, then like all the other channels, select input on the screen, scroll down to input patch or whatever and select 33 and or 34 and see if the l and r come to channels 1 and 2 on the board. Go through that whole patch selection and see if l and r is like 63 and 64 or something.

    ***Update I connected my Macbook Pro 2012 with Studio one 3.0 artist on Sunday 10/7/2018. Selected the soundcraft impact as the input for the computer under preferences. Selected the soundcraft impact as device in studio one. put 16 track in my DAW. went through the steps above and when I selected one of the tracks. I then clicked menu and clicked auto complete. I selected channel 1, and followed the steps above and then before exiting I used auto complete to automatically complete. This sent channels 1-8 to my daw as 33-40 It appears my DAW may have already been set up on channels 1-32 and I got repeats on channels 33-64. ***Autocomplete will do this for you for 8 consecutive channels. No live sound was messed up. This only changed what was sent out via USB.

      Yes, soundcraft doesn’t allow you to direct output two outs at the same time. That’s why they divided it into half and half. After the 33 channel you are good to patch madi or dante. If not then you’ll keep on looping to ch 1 even after patching it with a different channel.

    I love Soundcraft Si products, but they do have a few short-comings compared to some other digital mixers. For example, the Allen & Heath QU series can PLAY or MULTI-TRACK RECORD right to a USB device (i.e. flash stick or better yet SSD drive) without the need for external PC's and stuff.
    HELLO PEOPLE... Please note that for the Si Impact, if you want to make it more simpler for the USB out channels do the following..
    1 Make sure power is OFF!
    2 pull out the interface card in the back
    3.Change DIP switch #2 to OFF (down) (USB range), then the USB would handle 1-32. With it up it's 33 to 64.
    But if you think you'll use the MADI interface better not.

    Run a line out f your daw computer to an input on your board. You can not record and have that input on at the same time, but you can record, then listen and edit. If you wanted to do it at the same time, use earphones or speakers running out of the computer and not through an input.

    Soundcraft has zero info on this in their manual or on-line support. The way you have described it is the way that it works, but does not make intuitive logical sense... This is a great board, but LOUSY documentation, leaving us to hunt and peck and guess at how to make it work. Soundcraft, boo.

      Actually the information you need is in section 5.4 of the soundcraft user manual, the reason the first USB channel is set to channel 33 is your MADI output card dip switches are in the default setting, depending on the number of channels you need assigned to stage boxes can be varied with the dip switches, by changing the dip switches you can change the number of USB channels you have. So the USB channel out start address can be changed by changing dip switch #2 to the off position.

    How do you playback what is recorded in DAW to output through mixer?

      Get an Audio interface (scarlet 2i2) that would do the job. Connect computer to interface, then to input board, choose the fader for that channel and that’s it.
