0:29 Prep Keychain Blank (Remove cover & sand)
1:32 Apply Ist Coat of Glitter sing Brite Tone. Let dry for 4 hours.
3:38 a: Press glitter down (approx 30 minutes after application.)
4:12 b: If needed apply a second layer of glitter using Brite Tone. Let dry 4 hours.
4:43 c: Press glitter down minutes after applications
6:18 Layer 1 post glitter. Add a thin layer of Brite Tone. Dry for 4 hours
6:37 a: Layer 2 post glitter. Add a thin layer of Brite Tone, Dry for 4 hours
6:49 b: Layer 3 post glitter. Add a thin layer of Brite Tone. Dry for 4 hours
6:58 After layer 3 post glitter, sand to smooth.
8:13 b: Layer post glitter. Add a thin layer of Brite Tone. Dry for 4 hours
8:42 Prep the front of the keychain blank by removing protective cover and sanding
10:28 Apply layer 1 to the front of the keychain
10:38 a: Apply layer 2 to the front of the keychain.
10:45 b: Apply layer 3 to the front of the keychain
10:55 Lightly sand the front.
11:01 Apply layer 4 to the front of the keychain
11:09 a: Apply layer 5 to the front of the keychain
11:17 b: Apply layer 6 to the front of the keychain. Last one!!!
11:26 Apply hardware. You can do it 4 hours after the last coat, but I like to wait overnight.
11:41 It take 30 days to fully cure, but you can use it gently right away.
Thank you for such a nice and detailed tutorial. I just learned about Brite Tone and was hopeful it was a great alternative to resin. I'm disappointed in how many layers it needs and the amount of dry time. I think for now I'll be sticking with UV resin and be done in just several minutes. I'm just gonna go now and remove the Brite Tone from my Amazon cart.
Hi! I'm so glad my video gave you the information you were looking for. Just to note - the folks at Brite Tone did tell me you can shorten the dry time to 2 hours between layers. Still the same amount of layers though.

Thanks so much! I hope you love Brite Tone as much as I do. I use it for so many things. My kids painted rocks this past weekend. We sealed them with Brite Tone before we put them in the garden. 😆
Have you made an acrylic round without glitter? Do you know if we still sand it then put vinyl and then do the layers of brite tone?
Also, I got bubbles in 3 of the 4 keychains I just made. Do you know how to prevent this?
Hi! To seal the vinyl without glitter you only need as many layers as looks good to you. If your objective is to seal the vinyl on so it doesn't peel up, one or two layers is fine. If you want it super smooth or very shiny, you might have to go for more. I would still lighlty sand it first if you can, but it will definitely work without sanding. I'm surprised to hear you got bubbles. I've never had bubbles. Even if they come out initially they always settle and disappear. I would suggest two things: 1. Make sure you aren't shaking the Brite Tone before you apply. Just lightly stir it. 2. Pop them / work them out with a pin if you see them. Let me know how it goes!
Can Brite tone be used to seal the keychains after applying vinyl
Hi! Yes it can. If you take a look at the second part of the video, I seal the front of the keychain which is just vinyl. I don't add any glitter. Follow those directions and you are set for sealing vinyl on keychains.

Due to the long cure time, how long would you wait before packaging and shipping out if I wanted to sell these? I love the fact that the brite tone is non toxic even if the creation/dry time is long.
Hi! I'm with you on loving the non toxic aspect of Brite Tone. Brite Tone has the same cure time at epoxy - about 30 days for a full cure. I've read that if you are using 15-20 layers you should wait 5 days to ship. These guidelines are intended more for tumblers. If you are doing keychains, you have significantly less layers, so you could probably cut that down a day or two with no issues. When you do ship it, make sure you wrap it in parchment paper before putting bubble wrap or any plastic around it. The parchment will protect it while curing.

How hard does it dry? After the full 30 days cure, can it be easily scratched? I just made one and after 2 days its still pretty scratcable than I would have thought.
Hi! It dries very hard. It’s very scratch resistant against normal daily wear and tear. Like resin, it takes a full 30 days to cure, but after two days with lite use it shouldn’t scratch. The key is applying the Brite Tone in very thin layers. Like nail polish - if it goes on too thick it doesn’t dry correctly.

Would you be able to use gloss polycrylic if we don't have Brite tone?
I have read that you can, BUT I’ve never actually tried it, so I cannot be sure how it’ll turn out.
uv resin takes minutes vs traditional resin. i think using a good anti vapor mask special for resin and using uv resin i think it would be a little faster for sales. but for Someone who wants to do something for the family and has small children it's nice not to have those toxic fumes. But you still have to wear a dust mask since you are polishing.
Good point! You should definitely wear a dust mask when sanding. I agree. UV resin is definitely the quickest of all three if you are banging these out for orders. Thanks for your comment and input. You sound like you’ve sealed a keychain or two in your day. 😊
To save the drying time can I use UV nail dryer ?

Hi! I heard back from Crystalac. Since their product is water based, a UV lamp will not help. They did say since we are applying thin layers it is possible to cut the drying time down between layers to 2 hours. That helps! It cuts total time in half. 😄
Any chance you ca dry faster with a device ?
Hi! I asked the company that and they said if the room is cold a heat lamp might speed it up a little, but nothing that significantly cuts down dry time. They did say you can shorten the dry time down to 2 hours in between layers instead of 4 which their instructions said. That cuts it in half which is nice.
Are you sanding to level Britone or because the vinyl or glitter makes it uneven? Will it stay level after the next several layers? Thank you for sharing!!! Im thinking of making focal beads.
Hi! I sand to level. Some of the pieces of glitter do stick up, so it’s good to sand those down too. It is self leveling, so it doesn’t need a lot of sanding, but it’s a good practice. I usually add about 2-3 layers after sanding and it does stay level. Let me know how the beads work out if you try it.
This would be perfect for me since I have breathing issues and don't like wearing masks. Btw, does it have a strong odor?
So sorry to hear you have breathing issues. Glad you found this. No odor at all. I love it bc I have a family member with an autoimmune disease that is agitated by resins and epoxys. This might take longer overall, but it's so much safer. Not everyone in my house (kids, pets) wears PPE while I craft.
Why I thought we couldn't use Brite Tone for acrylics? I just ordered more uv resin but I already have Brite Tone.
So glad you have some. The only thing you cannot use it with that I know of is alcohol inks.
Could you just mix the glitter in the brite tone instead of sprinkling it?
Good question! Brite tone has to go on really thin for it to work. It might be harder to get the thin layer with glitter in there. It would probably work well if you are going light on the glitter and wanted more of a dispersed glitter look instead of a solid glitter look.
Who has that much time to make a simple keychain. I wish I did.
Hi! Thanks for watching. The amount of time spent actively applying throughout the entire process is minutes, but you are right, it’s a lot of dry time. It’s worth it to me because it’s non-toxic and easy, but I’m sure it doesn’t work for all.
@@BeesKneesSVG I think the same thing about anything using Brite Tone and I even have a bunch of it in my stock for furniture pieces, but I can’t be applying 10+ coats of something waiting 4 hours between coats in place of epoxy. It’s just too much. I understand the concern about toxicity, but I will just have to wear my PPE and open the doors and windows. For something with a larger return, I might consider it, but not something as small as a keychain. I’m curious why you wait 4 hours when even BT says you can recoat in 2. That would make more sense for the small pieces.
Under the FAQs on their website it says, “Definitely let each coat dry at least 4 hours on tumblers and crafts.” Could you get away with 2-3 hour dry time? Probably, but for a tutorial I wanted to follow their guidelines. I’ll have to give it a try and see how 2 hour dry time works out. Thanks for the idea.

Thanks. They do sparkle. Yes, two days. If you can set them up out of the way, it only takes a second to apply each coat. It is really easy. I haven't messed it up yet. Lol! But you do have to have space for them to sit for two days. Thanks for watching!

thats a long process for a keychain just not to use epoxy
They have a new product I’m going to try that dries quicker and takes less coats. Trying to find something that’s not toxic bc I can wear PPE but I have kids and pets in the house.
@@BeesKneesSVG yes it's called hyperion. It dries within 2 hours of each coat that you put on. I brought some the other day haven't tried it yet--I saw it demonstrated on someone's tutorial and it's great if you don't wantna deal with epoxy.
