When Hevy (or hardcase, I don’t remember) blew up the base, we didn’t see him explode into bits. We were shown an outside picture. When droids die, it’s just a robot. Same with stormtroopers. Just the bad guy. That has been the informal rule for Star Wars since it’s inception. George Lucas said himself that he put the Stormtroopers in armor so they could be seen by kids and could be expendable. (Of course he already breaks that rule when Obi-Wan cuts the troublemakers arm off in the cantina and you see blood on the floor lol). George Lucas even said himself, Star Wars was probably going to be a kids movie. Seen by kids. If it wasn’t meant for kids, Star Wars would be treated wayyy differently. But rebels has had impactful deaths onscreen. Maul vs Obi-Wan?

I am honest to god actually impressed. The detail we get when the ships hit looks amazing, get to make fun of the empire, and we get more moments of ezra being badass.
+parker maisterra They probably only detailed it that much because it was such a big ship and they wanted it to look cool for an episode. That amount of detail hasn't been in any other episodes. But yeah, it looked pretty awesome.
The animation in this show kinda sucks until something cool happens from what I've seen. It also looked this good when Vader showed up for the first time.
+HisHolyMajesty I don't know. They kind of need to give the imperials some credit at least. Several of them seem very well intentioned. Not evil, but doing what they think seems right. Stopping a terrorist group. Everybody thought the Jedi tried to assassinate the Chancellor.

Can I just mention that in this whole episode, one of the gems was Ezra’s and Cmd. Sato’s back and forth? Here’s a seasoned commander, and he sounds like he’s been “volunteered” for babysitting duties. “Don’t worry, I’ve been captured before.” “That’s hardly comforting.” “We’ll, that means that I’ve escaped before.” “Obviously.” And it all comes full circle as they are making their escape and Ezra takes point. “Don’t worry! I got this!” “You GOT this?!?” “Come on! He’s got this!”
No the reason the stormtroopers look like shit is because there’s two Jedi, a twi’lek who has war in her blood, A Mandolorian, A Commander clone who served under the damn chosen one, and one of the last Lassats of the high honor guard.
I love how they hardly refer to the Storm Troopers still being Clones but when both of those Clone Troopers at 2:10 you can hear that they are clone trooper grunts
Uhhh no. Rebels literally established when they first found Rex that majority of the clones were retired. Plus, if they knew Rex of all troopers was going to die, they would stand up for him. He was Anakin’s technically Second in Command next to Ahsoka. They were regular humans, not clones.
@@rosesweetcharlotte No cause they still bread more clones after the fall of the Republic they only just started to incorporate regular humans later on. So they can be clones
@@coledavis5212 They still made more clones, and if most of them were retired that doesn't mean there still wasn't clones in the line of duty. And your saying that the Storm Troopers would stand up for Rex? 🤨 One Order 66 took over they wouldn't care if he was their brothers they were already brainwashed and ordered to kill anyone who committed treason against the Republic (The Empire). Which Rex did in their eyes.
I really appreciate Rebels for establishing that stormtroopers weren't all clone troopers. Listening to Rex express his... distaste for stormtrooper armor felt very cathartic.
Love how in clone wars, almost every clone that got shot DIED, and in this, even the freakin blasters don't kill the storm troopers. Like wtf. Talk about family friendly.
Razvan Dobos Actually they are both pretty good. Rebels actually perfected animated lightsaber duels and also put meaning into them. During the Clone Wars it was just a cool sword destroying a bunch of droids. During Rebels when they aren’t slaughtering stormtroopers, if you look closely into the fights like Ahsoka vs Vader and Obi-Wan vs Maul, they aren’t a regular duel. It isn’t hero vs bad guy. It’s friend vs friend and rival vs rival. Plus, the moments are more fluid. Ahsoka is agile as fuck. She isn’t fast like that in TCW. She even got a hit on Vader, although it was only his mask. These are probably the best animated duels (in my opinion): 1. Obi-Wan vs Maul (Rebels) th-cam.com/video/jeG215-yu-k/w-d-xo.html 2. Ahsoka vs Vader (Rebels) th-cam.com/video/eU9JRYzUBBg/w-d-xo.html 3. Anakin vs Barriss (TCW) th-cam.com/video/2GTw9HCDzQc/w-d-xo.html 4. Maul vs the Inquisitors (Rebels) th-cam.com/video/Mbld0O1Dj_g/w-d-xo.html 5. Anakin/Obi-Wan vs Ahsoka (TCW) th-cam.com/video/XuBgy5agF8E/w-d-xo.html
Razvan Dobos no the motion in clone wars isn’t as fluid at all, in season 6 it is because they used what they learned from rebels into clone wars. But it also isn’t clone wars animation style, their style is more blocky.
One of the best things about rebels is that they acknowledge what fans have been saying for years that clone troopers were far superior to storm troopers
KeybladeWXV the clone wars were barely child friendly. From evil cult that raised the undead once, or the brain worms. Disney is a child friendly Channel. Nothing like Cartoon Network who shares the station with adult swim
That’s not what child friendly means. Child friendly means if there’s death, it’s without gore. Somebody gets shot and that’s it. No blood splatters, no guts. He just dies. George Lucas said it himself that Star Wars was meant to appeal for kids so he made deaths the least gory as possible, with the exception of the cantina and Hoth, but those were the 70’s and 80’s. But that is why Luke doesn’t seem as in pain as he should when Vader cuts his hand off. No blood is shown either. That’s also why when a Luke cuts Vader’s hand off, it’s robotic. Same for the prequels. When Maul was cut in half, they never showed the initial disembodiment. They never showed blood either. Why did Vader throw Palpatine down a long hole instead of cut him down with a lightsaber?
ExplodingHam Maybe so, but Star Wars has been willing to be a bit darker. Countless examples can be found in other Star Wars media like Republic Commando, The Force Unleashed, the Old Republic games etc. While they didn’t quite go to Doom levels of gory, they were certainly more willing to show things like people being cut down by lightsabers, force choked/electrocuted, thrown into space, crushed by debris, blood splatters on screen. I’m not saying Star Wars needs these to work, I just feel Disney has often pulled their punches, especially in Rebels. It’s ok to show at least some of these. Rebels is clearly for younger audiences but Clone Wars is arguably for the same age group and there are far more moments where the writers were willing to show darker themes.
Am I the only one who was really hoping an aged Cody would show up at some point, still serving the Empire (since he obeyed order 66) and he and Rex would duke it out before Cody realized everything he had done and sacrificed himself to allow Rex to escape? like, Vader shows up and Rex realizes who Vader really is before he cuts Cody down for being a traitor, but even in that moment Vader hesitates as he recognizes Rex and Cody, and then for a moment we cut to Obi-Wan on Tatooine and he just freezes and looks up, a saddened expression on his face? maybe Ahsoka makes an appearance and just feels the wave of what's happened here, where even Vader is momentarily brought to a halt by the truth of what has just transpired?
Kinda funny; if you go back to AOTC the Kamino governer claims that clones are more creative than droids but then we have Chopper here coming up with a very effective strategy.
It may be a tiny little detail in a great show, but I love this episode because, after so many years, we finally got to see the Immobilizer-418 Interdictor Cruiser on screen. =)

@@coledavis5212 Ahem hem.
1- Fives getting shot with his helmet off, showing a glowing hole through his chest as he struggles to hang on to life before dying
2- That one ARC troopers (Commander Colt?) getting impaled by Ventress (again with his helmet off)
3- 99 getting shot to death while running to get grenades.
4- Pre Vizla getting decapitated mostly on screen
5- Savage getting impaled fully on screen
6- Satine getting choked out and then impaled on screen
7- Tal Merrick getting impaled on screen
8- Dooku getting decapitated mostly on screen
9- The senator who gets shot in the back by Cad Bane
10- Krell who gets shot in the back on screen
11- Nadhar Veb who is shot multiple times on screen
12- Captian Keeli who is shot multiple times with his helmet off
13- Ima Gun Di who is shot multiple times before dying
And now helmeted or cut away deaths that are still brutal AF:
1- Commander Thorn getting shot four times in the chest and once in the hip and the audience seeing burning holes, not little charred patches, and then later seeing his dead body surrounded by his enemies
2- The unarmed prisoner Osi Sobeck shot in the Citadel arc
3- That poor bastard whose head was crushed by Grievous (offscreen but still heard)
4- That pike getting crushed in an elevator.
5- Those two clones who got decapitated and the one who got impaled horizontally through the torso by Maul
6- A clone pilot getting shot in the head by an AA canon
7- The clone who got crushed in the citadel arc
8- The guy whose spine gets snapped by Krell
9- The senate guard who begs Aura Sing for mercy and gets shot in the head
10- The clone who got incinerated by Grievous
11- Commander Fil who was whipped around by Gor and had his entire body broken
12- The clone who gets ripped apart by Gutkars
13- The clones who are mauled by those bird things
14- The clone Ventress decapitates
15- The four Deathwatch mandos Ahsoka decapitates fully on screen
And likely many more I've forgotten. Still think it's just a kids show? Also, George Lucas is wrong when he says Star Wars is a series for kids, it's a series for everyone. If he couldn't see that, then maybe it's a good thing he doesn't own it anymore.
@@knightofkorbin888 You're astonishing!
@@coledavis5212 Clone Wars was Dark
I am honest to god actually impressed. The detail we get when the ships hit looks amazing, get to make fun of the empire, and we get more moments of ezra being badass.
+parker maisterra They probably only detailed it that much because it was such a big ship and they wanted it to look cool for an episode. That amount of detail hasn't been in any other episodes. But yeah, it looked pretty awesome.
The animation in this show kinda sucks until something cool happens from what I've seen. It also looked this good when Vader showed up for the first time.
Simon Petrikov
slvrcobra1337 the animation for lightsaber fights looks more believable than the lightsaber fights in the clone wars
Imperial commander to Chopper:
"You turned the weapon against me!"
Chopper:
"I have done that myself"
How many people...just died? Whilst they played triumphant music...
About 500,000😐
+HisHolyMajesty That's atleast 500000 more little dots swarming to the Golden Throne M'Lord. Such a waste of good manpower.
+HisHolyMajesty I don't know. They kind of need to give the imperials some credit at least. Several of them seem very well intentioned. Not evil, but doing what they think seems right. Stopping a terrorist group. Everybody thought the Jedi tried to assassinate the Chancellor.

I pity the fool!

"Wow. Nice to know you care." "Don't ruin this." Geez, Kanan should blame Palpatine, not the clones themselves.
4 years later..
Its COMMANDER Rex now
Well he doesn't like being a commander anyway.. S7 episode 12 of clone wars
@OMGIDestroyedMatter guess that information survived somehow? XD
Young Rex would've kicked añl their asses in a second
🤫
Hunter: We’re loyal to each other, not some Empire.
Crosshair: You weren’t loyal to me.
Can I just mention that in this whole episode, one of the gems was Ezra’s and Cmd. Sato’s back and forth? Here’s a seasoned commander, and he sounds like he’s been “volunteered” for babysitting duties.
“Don’t worry, I’ve been captured before.”
“That’s hardly comforting.”
“We’ll, that means that I’ve escaped before.”
“Obviously.”
And it all comes full circle as they are making their escape and Ezra takes point.
“Don’t worry! I got this!”
“You GOT this?!?”
“Come on! He’s got this!”
Huh, even Ezra got a hallway scene

"Chopper has turned their own weapon against them. It's pulling everything in"
Me so the interdictor basically wants to become a planet.
Say what you want about Rebels. It has really good moments
Most of which have to do with TCW characters.
Carly Crays
True. The only good moments that don’t have to do with TCW characters are with Kanin especially.
My gosh... Stormtroopers in Star Wars Rebels are "elite", but so many of them get killed and really easily. Even against the average Rebel Trooper.
rex isn't an average rebel trooper
CT-1409 'Echo' well, having a big fuckoff ship or two hitting you would cause some issues
Ꭵᴘʀᴏғᴜɴᴅɪᴛʏ Rex isn't a an average rebel trooper he's a clone trooper
Not every stormtroopers that were gunned down were dead....they could very much be just injured.
No the reason the stormtroopers look like shit is because there’s two Jedi, a twi’lek who has war in her blood, A Mandolorian, A Commander clone who served under the damn chosen one, and one of the last Lassats of the high honor guard.
Rex: But I really hate this armour
Stormtrooper next to him: and I took offence to that.
Notice how stormtroopers actually hit their targets when they have a lightsaber to defend, but every time they are unarmed they miss, pure plot armor
dammit this intercepter will take 3 more min to rebuild
+GamingNLRaptor ah well to me they are cheap.
Units in Production
Aspiring Marauder if you play the republic at war mod "tactical battle... Tactical battle... Tactic.. Tactical ba......"
MrTagnan The attacks never stop. Republic worlds were always under siege.
Actually it took a season and a half to build two more, which is also a year and a half.
They probably just wanted to save money and used some old soundbites they had lying around.
@@smittyprime04 In the new canon they stoped making clones about a year after order 66
I really appreciate Rebels for establishing that stormtroopers weren't all clone troopers. Listening to Rex express his... distaste for stormtrooper armor felt very cathartic.
Rebels doesn't really show death but we know it happens a lot and on a mass scale.
That guy in the beginning gave me inspector gadget vibes XD
Did Rex just headbutt a helmet?
And the guy with the helmet gets disoriented?

Yes. The Assassin's Creed Revelation cinematic trailer if you want to be specific :P

That one Asian dude in the background shooting at stormtroopers
Ezra's got this! hahaha
Personally, I like the part when Agent Kallus gives that 'I told you so' face to the ship's captain XD
Kinda wish that bit got included in this clip.
Ahh, the iconic clone scream.
Haha. Funny.
I love how they got steve blum to do misc imperial characters aside from Zeb. Always reminds me of his work in the Empire at War game.
Love how in clone wars, almost every clone that got shot DIED, and in this, even the freakin blasters don't kill the storm troopers. Like wtf. Talk about family friendly.
MR. GAMING Blasters have a stunt moda and a kill mode. If you use stunt the target won't die
+Gaboseries I really think you don't understand what he said.
N. B. woops,

+Gaboseries No problem ^^
You are aware being shot doesn't mean you die instantly
Rex proving how much stormtrooper armor sucks by headbutting one without a helmet
Never noticed that the clone theme plays at 1:00
First time watching Rebels and the animation looks extremely good! The movement is so fluid.
Clone Wars is better. You'v only scratched the surface.
Razvan Dobos
Actually they are both pretty good.
These are probably the best animated duels (in my opinion):
1. Obi-Wan vs Maul (Rebels)
th-cam.com/video/jeG215-yu-k/w-d-xo.html
2. Ahsoka vs Vader (Rebels)
th-cam.com/video/eU9JRYzUBBg/w-d-xo.html
3. Anakin vs Barriss (TCW)
th-cam.com/video/2GTw9HCDzQc/w-d-xo.html
4. Maul vs the Inquisitors (Rebels)
th-cam.com/video/Mbld0O1Dj_g/w-d-xo.html
5. Anakin/Obi-Wan vs Ahsoka (TCW)
th-cam.com/video/XuBgy5agF8E/w-d-xo.html
Razvan Dobos no the motion in clone wars isn’t as fluid at all, in season 6 it is because they used what they learned from rebels into clone wars. But it also isn’t clone wars animation style, their style is more blocky.
No doubt. Rex is the best Clone Trooper ever.
Boy, when those things blow, they really light up the night!!
Dr ball MD: I'm a doctor! Not a savage! This is a flu shot damnit!
i love this scene. kanan finally learns to respect the clones, like the jedi before him. he finally started to like rex.
1:18 and 1:37
My favourite part of this episode 😂
Love this episode because it's the only time (so far) that you see rebel troopers fighting stormtroopers on the ground.
My loyalty was to the Republic, not to your Empire
“Oh I’m proud of my service, but I really hate this armour”
Yeah, clone armour is so much better
That empire bad guy looks like a minecraft villager
Those first 2 stormtroopers in the room with Rex when they died it sounded like clones...
donovan tupper They may have been his brothers...just imperial now..
Oh yeah!
😦😦😦😖😐
Nonono.. I I think would've recognized if it was my brothers.
Wow that little Astromech droid Chopper is a homicidal maniac
So how long was Kanan standing there in tropper armor waiting to say "I WILL".
One of the best things about rebels is that they acknowledge what fans have been saying for years that clone troopers were far superior to storm troopers
That Star Interdirector though.
Hearing a clone scream gives me Umbara flashbacks
Rex is so awesome even when he's old
Thank you.
Lol, that flick of his saber when he heard Rex scream looked so lazy, that be me if I was blocking shots and not in the mood to fight haha.
Come on Disney. We saw clones being struck down by lightsabers. Do the same here.
I love how at 4:13 you can hear Gustav Holst's "Mars" in the music, it's a sweet little callback to the inspiration for John Williams
I would have been too sad...
At the very end when the ships smashed into each other, I got an ad for Reese's Colliders.
Brilliant.
"it's pulling in our ships"
"Well then turn it off or something! God do you want us all to die?"
"the plot demands it sir, so no"
Pretty sure Chopper made sure that it wasn't going to stop. Veteran astromechs don't screw around.
500,000 dead later..
Kinda funny; if you go back to AOTC the Kamino governer claims that clones are more creative than droids but then we have Chopper here coming up with a very effective strategy.
I wish Rex was one of the main character in this series
@Yoda don't forget about Cody will be main protagonist in Bad batch series after His chip was removed.
Chopper violating the 1st Law of Robotics like an absolute God of War
I hope Captain Rex and Vader meet in Season 3. So much potential.
If it's for making the same thing with Ahsoka in last episode of the season three, no thanks!
Just like Ezra and Zeb, Kanan & Rex are like brothers too...THE FATHER & THE UNCLE!😁
Evryone cheered at the end while evryone died on those 3 imperial cruisers
It may be a tiny little detail in a great show, but I love this episode because, after so many years, we finally got to see the Immobilizer-418 Interdictor Cruiser on screen. =)
"C'mon, He's got this!" Lmao
yeah
Redknight li so lame
Rex's interrogation would've been a million times better if instead of that officer interrogating Rex, it was commander Cody.
Nicholas Bleker nah because that guy comes in later 2 more times as a running gag.
Kanan is standing on the middle of the hallway and the storm troopers can't even hit him
Not Used dude has a lightsaber.
Lol. Sato " cmon, hes got this!" LOL
