Your tips/techniques on the Etrac are amazing. I'm a newbie to the Etrac and you've been a tremendous help. At the ripe young age of 70 I'm trying to catch up as quickly as possible ... LOL. I just made the connection that you and Bill/DirtFishing are hunting buddies. Both of you do a great job teaching. Thanks again for all the info you share ... "Fantastic"
Yes. Me and Bill hunt a lot together. Thanks for the very nice write up!! Glad we can be of some help to get silver to jump out of the ground. You're right about making a video with tips only. I drop in a tip here and there on my videos but not all in one segment. You may have read where I say the two MOST important settings are to set your GROUND to DIFFICULT and your TRASH to HIGH. This will wake the beast up. Set them and forget them. Oh and another - Set your THRESHOLD PITCH to at least 25 to get your silver to sing. You can over power your machine and it will start to hit deeper rusty iron like bolts. One way to get more "stable" depth is to run auto sensitivity +3 for a few minutes. Then switch to manual sensitivity at that same number. Like if it's running auto 24 then switch to manual 24. However you can keep adding unstable depth by raising your manual sensitivity on up. Save that for when you get some hours on your machine. Now go get em!!!!!
Holy Smoke ... Now this is what I'm talking about. Very, very nice of you to pass on your wisdom. This is the kind of insight that will help we neophytes to learn quickly/correctly ... thank you so much. Hope you will consider doing a video on these tips. I'm definitely a fan =)

I am glad to see this comment. I own a whites mx7, at pro, t2, and an ETRAC. I started with the T2 and have had trouble getting to the same skill level with the other machines that I have achieved with the T2. Just recently got the used ETRAC and this comment gives me hope. I know it all just boils down to my experience with the machine. The multitone on any machine just slows me down to a crawl and causes quick fatigue from hunting in the "noise". I have noticed all these machines are good on depth. They all have their strengths. I can say that (yes, even the Whites, it is very deep, event though I cant get the disc to work as well).
Thanks for this great new tip. I've had the Etrac for about 4 years now and still think it's hard to beat in most situations but this is the latest greatest new (program) that I have seen since the first 6 months I've owned the machine. I can't wait to try it! I wish there were some updates from Minelab that would bring some new life to this great machine.
+benvareen Don't hold your breath on any new twists on the etrac. I was really expecting a new lightweight etrac with a color screen then the Go - Finds came out. Ooops!! But you know - I always thought the etrac weighed around 5 pounds? I put it on my scale the other day and with the RNB battery it weoghed 4lbs .3oz With the original battery it weighed 4lb 2.5 oz So it's really not bad at all considering the MXT is around 4lbs 3oz. But if ML could shave off a half pound it would feel much better!
11yrs and still etrac are still singing among newer detectors. just pick up mine after almost 10 yrs letting go of my Explorer SE Pro. before that, etrac was way too much of my league because of the price but now you can have 'em around 500 bucks yet its capabilities are still competing among newer units. now, swinging slow and low is back! etrac's tone is just so sweet with silver i can't replicate it with the Nox 900. i hunt with tones and not with numbers or icons.
Great video!! What you need to remember is that in TTF anything from 17-35 will be a low iron grunt sound. Thats why even with descrim at 32 to eliminate nails sound, you got the iron tone. So your idea to change to 4tc or multi conduct is great.
Hey mower dog I’m a 14 year old I just got an etrac, your videos are super helpful! It hasn’t even arrived yet lol but I have been binge watching your videos and this was my favorite! Thank you so much!
Thanks Coinboy! I would only use this set up when you think you're done with a site. Then go back one more time with this set up to maybe hit a few more goodies. I would start out with a coin program called Bill's Trashy Park Program. Use that and you will be on your way to quick Silver in your pouch. The 2 MOST important settings are to set Trash to High and Ground to difficult. Set those 2 and forget it. Oh and multi tone. Go here a scroll down until you see the pattern and save the image. This set up is great for coins including deep silver. www.findmall.com/threads/andy-s-or-bills-trashy-park-pattern.347972/
I did the same test a few week ago. I was amazed how the Andy S pattern was better than open screen in TTF. I am going to give your set up a try next hunt!!Thanks for doing the test!!!
+Jersey Digmore Actually the Andy Sabisch pattern in conductive is a good one for a trashy site. I do cherry pick a site first then go more aggressive hunting more like in this video.
Had deus for 2 weeks sent back did not like. Bought ctx3030 which was great machine but sold for camera gear. Previously had etrac which found me gold coin, many gold rings and hammered coins etc. Had money to buy either ctx or etrac again. decided etrac as my finds were awesome with it. use 2tf a lot but also multi. Now will set up as your video as looks great. here in England we usually do tadpole pattern but i like this video a lot. will try yours for a while. well done mate - your a top bloke for posting.
+MrAkitaDog I have bought machines and within 5 minutes know it's not for me. I took right to the etrac. Thanks for your kind words! Good luck hunting!
Interesting bout using discrim and Minelab saying it runs best with some on. I've learnt the Neil Jones program and learnt alot of iron tones, that is conduct tones, but no iron masking/discrimination lines added. Smooth response and Multi tone, this is The set up to find what others have missed. This video has helped me realise just how fast the etrac recovery can be, in the UK we run Recovery Deep, Recovery Fast off, Ground Difficult. We have so much iron here, lol. HH and thank you.
Thanks Kenny, After watching this video I had to try it for myself. I was surprised. It was exactly as you described. I could never get a good tone or number on the coin between the nails in 2 tone ferrous. I was surprised. It seems that I have wasted a lot of time detecting in this mode. After watching your videos I am excited to go back over some of the places I have pounder to death. These are some of the best Etrac videos I have ever watched. Thank you, Robert
You have not wasted your time. This is the last type of set up to clean up anything that TTF left behind. I first hunt sites with High Discrimination. Then each time I go over the same spot I slowly open up the Disc. Now only your very hardest targets are left. You will dig more iron but you will also be rewarded... Please post back with your results.....
I run my etrac wide open then start sweeping to see how much iron is present, then move my bar up and down as I hunt. that's the way to get the good stuff in iron.
I have some information. After digging over 50 targets with similar ID numbers everything was rusty iron. last night I tried it again, and had 25-45 about "5 to "6 deep. My friend checked the target as well with his AT-pro , and had a 57 ID...called it a pull tab. When I opened the plug a beautiful 1937 dime in the hole. I found a hot rock 2" under the dime. Thanks for doing the video !!!
+Jersey Digmore I dug one mercury dime at 27/44. Lots around 17 to 22fe. Test show that 29fe is about the definitive breaking point of any chance to hit a coin. I'm going to adjust my disc to 30fe and dig 29 or lower to reduce some iron.
Congrats to you on your etrac! It's an easy machine to run. Check out this video showing the etrac finding deep Civil War Bullets. th-cam.com/video/fIwh7uzh4HQ/w-d-xo.html
I have a ctx 3030, whites v3i, a Nokta impact , whites mix sport and a etrac. You know which one I find the most with? The etrac. It’s my favorite machine and when mastered is unbeatable. It has better audio than the ctx and best depth of any of them. I’ve been using it for 15 years and I’ve mastered it. He is 100% right you just need a bit of discrimination. I block out only bottom 35 to 30 fe. Run rest wide open. It allows machine to react naturally to a target. It will also help machine go down deep.
Great vid…i'm just learning my etrac and this video gives me some more options to play around in the iron…seems like this machine has endless potential
William, I own a deus, AKA Sorex and a sovereign GT. Its the sovereign I take to the beech, different horses for different courses. The AKA sorex is an excellent machine that is capable of very good depth and its ability to id coins using its hodagraph is a great tool. The deus I use on UK's iron contaminated sites and its recovery speed is lightning quick.I was simply saying, drop a silver 2" below 2 thick short rusted nails and your machine will not pick it up. Now, try turning just 1 nail around and come at it at a different angle and you might get a signal. As most targets and iron are at different levels, the iron will blind your machine from seeing the silver unless you use a concentric coil or you search your field from different angles. My posts are in no way shape or form intended to nock the video made, but its a very interesting test to do with any machine. I like my Minelab very much and for the very reason I got it, the beach.
Great video and great info! I saw this posted over on FMDF and followed your tip. I now have two versions of the park pattern saved.. One regular and one with the FE numbers opened up down to around 30. It definitely works to pick out coins among iron. Thanks and subscribed!
wow awesome video...thanks thata gonna help me a lot squeak out a few more goodies out of my pounced spots. the etrac is truly a beast. it's the king of all machines IMHO
I'm a kinda of a noob to detecting... I've had an explorer II for years now... and it's in new condition, hardly used. This video excites me... I was saving up to purchase a late model of some kind. Was very impressed with the speed of the Deus.. but now I'm thinking my explorer II will work just fine, if I learn how to set it up and then get my A$$ out and start swinging it. Some have said the FBS isn't a good choice for a machine. So I was looking at the X Terra 705.. but liking the Safari (which has FBS) but those two seem simplified for a user. Anyway after seeing some of the detector testing and setting vids... I plan to experiment with mine... after getting the batteries up and charged. Good Video
There is a massive Explorer following. Get on some forums like Dankowski, Findmall or others. Ask how to set your machine up with custom programs and such. I believe you have a Hot Rod - you just need to know how to set it.
The etrac will hit most coins just about any way you run it. But a few tweaks here and there will get the tough ones. Thanks for watching and commenting!
what an eye opener!!! I always ran my etrac in TTF with an open screen. Dear lord I wonder what I've been missing! The next chance I get, probably next week, I'll head out to one of my sites that I've pounded. All that's left are iron grunts. I'll try 4TC and see what I missed. If I find anything at all that's a keeper, I'll add another comment here as a testimonial to your settings. Thank you! 🍻
+mowerdog yeah. just a constant foil-button falsing even with the coil off. If I touch the pins woth my finger on the head unit where the coil plugs in, it's that same constant falsing
thank you:-) I get your point:-)I hope I'll find a way to setup the ctx like you did the etrack, and to see if the ctx find the stuff under iron also:-)
I can't even begin to tell you how many coins I've dug with nails in the same hole. Even with high discrimination the etrac will sniff them out. I'm positive the 3030 will do as good or better. Keep us informed....
A great test but it makes me ask one question. Why would you run the machine in any other setting then multi-conduct? Why does everyone think ttf is the best thing since sliced bread? Does the machine lose depth or something when you go to multi conduct? Strange.
Thanks for putting that bit together. I will be giving this a try....I've been a little hesitant to use TTF. I really think the Etrac is the best machine on the market if you know how to use it....:) HH & GL, Dan
+Wormkiller Dan It's so good at deep coins that it's ability to work in iron has been lost. Most think you need another super duper new fast machine to do what the etrac already can do. It wasn't that I found some secret button. I as many thought it couldn't hit a coin in nails because I was using TTF. The problem was using TTF in iron - it don't work!
Thanks so much for the video. Question: my machine set up “exactly” like you instructed. Nails disappeared. Changed to 4 tone Conduct... penny rang loud and clear between the nails... just like your video! I later changed it to multi conduct.. I then began hunting my 1800’s home yard again. Why is it that other nails are now ringing up a high tone as well now like the coin? I dug countless square nails ringing up in that high tone? Any suggestions how I might change anything on my set up? Thanks! Love the videos
No doubt you'll dig more nails trying to find the exact setup at each location. Raise the iron disc to 27 and be mindful and leary of a 01 ferrous number.
I have used rusty thicker iron nails, say 1 1/4" in length. All goes well until you start rotating nails. Drop the coin down below the nails and forget all about it. You have to come at it in one particular direction. I have a Deus with 9" coil and an AKA Sorex.I'm not knocking you at all ;-). Just try what I have explained. Id be real interested in the results you find using your Minelab.Trouble is, its not a level playing field out there and with out using a concentric coil in heavier iron contaminated ground, lots of coins just are not picked up.
Concentric coil is available for the E-trac. So I am not sure what you meant by that comment. Do you own a Deus? Because I am sure if you own one you are going to say everything you can to hype it up. Try taking the Deus to the ocean and hunting ankle deep in water. See how it performs. The reason I moved to the Minelab E series was the ability to use in different soils. I used a single frequency machine similar to the Deus (I know the Deus has 4) at the Great Salt Lake in Utah. It did not do well. I learned quickly that I needed a machine that was flexible to soil conditions and could get deep targets. The E Series more than satisfies this need. I will note the E Series does not perform well in Culpepper Virginia area (Digging In Virginia). I tried and it just could not ground balance. I found targets but only shallow and had to constantly re-balance to get steady threshold.
First 2 setting is to set your (ground) to -Difficult and your (Trash) to - High. Then forget about those. Once you get your machine feel free to ask questions.
+Terry Knipschield OK I just went out and to see just how far away I could get the coin. I used the same 2 nails and silver dime. I put the nails within 1/8 inch from the coins in a line just like the video. I put my sens to manual 10 and could hit the coin at 5 inches going slow. I then raised the sens to 20 and it would hit it at 7 inches going slow. I raised my power to 30 and could still only get 7 inches.
Still getting to know the etrac after an embarrassing amount of time with it. Not finding much yet few Indian heads 3 silver dimes 1 buffalo and a bunch of wheats. Coming from a AT pro it's a big learning curve. seems like silver is the only thing I can't find. I get silver tones and get super excited but it's just rusty nails every time. 😔
awesome vid i cant wait to get out there and try it ive been running in 2 tone ferrous relics mode at old home sites now im gonna go back over them and see what ive missed thanks for the vid bro H.H. subbed
mowerdog, I used your settings and was able to duplicate the iron nails and coin test. However, I put one square cut iron nail on top of a 4 x 4 lying on my sidewalk and a silver quarter on the sidewalk. No matter what I do, I cannot hit the quarter using stock coil. If I remove the nail I can hit the quarter. Is there a way to get my E-trac to hit the quarter with the iron nail on top of the 4x4? In real life, nails are often at different depths than the coin(s).
If you can't hit the coin messing with your settings then it's probably not possible. Just goes to show that there is a ton of good masked goodies just waiting to be found.
Basically my two videos were in response to a video done by Keith Southern (Relics 1964). He had posted his video showing how the new, quick and fast machines hits coins around iron. I knew my old and slow etrac could do just as good so I made these videos. What it certainly shows is that most of use use too much discrimination. That's about it. Some have contacted me to do this or that. One guy said to use old rusty square nails because they had a different iron make up than the nails I was using. After researching he was right. So I learned something from him. Yes, I can make the etrac fail but the point of the video was to show that test for test it will hold up against most newer, faster machines. Please go watch Keith's video and you'll see exactly why I made these videos. th-cam.com/video/oFBaZa14T3A/w-d-xo.html
Try the same test with bent rusty nails and from different angles. I'll bet you'll have a different result. I have owned my etrac since they came out, and just now have my own customized program and settings. I get 14" deep silver dimes mixed in with all kinds of trash, and I am NOT running two tones, am running multi tones conducive.
Sorry about the settings and program, I am not at liberty to give that info. The person that actually came up with the set-up, swore me to secrecy. It took him almost 6 months of experimenting to perfect this set up. I have not made any videos, I do not have a fancy camera and my cell is a consumer cellular flip phone, it only does 1 minute vids. I am NOT copping out here, but I know what my machine does and what I have watched the other person dig.

Very good instructional video Kenny! You're making me wonder if I could do the same thing to the SE Pro as I've never used conductive and I always have my IM set at 14 or 16. I'll have to try it as I get a lot of nulling as it is with the IM set at the halfway point.
+Ohio Dirt Fisher I really don't know how to use the SE? But it may be worth breaking out a couple of nails and a coin to see how you can make it work?
Yes. I agree. I'll have to do some tests. But thanks for making me think about it. I want to detect more than learn. Bad idea. There may be more potential in my machine than I realize. Almost all the old SE owners swear by conductive and I've never been able to handle it. Ya never know!
I really never liked any ferrous mode I ran. I always got more goodies in conductive. So then I just tried to master conductive and still have a ways to go. Let us know how you make out with the SE?
Yes you can. Instead of buying a CTX you might consider an Etrac and Atpro for less money. This way you've covered all your bases and will always have a spare or loaner.
Did you have fast on or off?? when I did my test with the Andy S pattern. The ID numbers on a dime showed 20-44. Do you know the ID numbers on your test??
+Jersey Digmore It didn't make any difference with fast on or off. I just leave mine off. All the ferrous numbers were in the 20's. I have dug coins all the way down to 27fe. I'm not saying to hunt like this all the time or everywhere. But when your sites dry up and all that's left is iron then this is the best time to unleash the power. Will you dig more iron? Yes. Will you find those masked coins? Yes.
mowerdog....I tried the same settings (those I know about), and did not get the same results. I could not pick up a silver dime very close to two small nails unless I was only one inch away from the target. When I raised the coil only an inch or two, I got no signal. Is there some other setting you're using other than just discriminate and conduct tones that would make a difference? I definitely see the advantage, but if it's only effective for an inch or two, it isn't much help.
+Terry Knipschield In your expert menu set your ground to difficult and your trash to high. See if that helps? Also you may have to adjust your discrimination to just eliminate "your" nails. Your nails may hit differently than mine?
+mowerdog I'll check and see where those are set. I only just acquired my E-trac and haven't even hunted with it yet. Lots of experience with the SE though. Still wondering what your signal would have been had you lifted the coil higher. I also need to make 100% sure that there was no trash in the ground where I laid my stick and nails.
+Terry Knipschield just checked and it's set for high trash and difficult ground. There were a few signals under the stick that might have interfered, but I would think that wouldn't be a big issue as they were small.
I don't know? Put your two nails down. Use quick mask full open. While sweeping the coil over the nails bump up your disc to right where your nail is rejected. Then put the coin down and I'll bet you hit it.
Please keep in mind those nails are most likely made from steel, not iron. The test would be better if you used two iron nails that were corroded (like the ones you get from the ground).
+TheJohnmusk Keith had posted a video of the Racer and F75 on a forum. I actually was just duplicating his test against what I knew the etac could do. I was trying to use the same size and type of nails as he did. I have some rusty square nails I'll try out and video tape. Stay tuned for that video in which I answer not just your suggestion but others as well. Here is the video I'm referring to. th-cam.com/video/oFBaZa14T3A/w-d-xo.html
thx for the tips {were are we aloud to detect } is {school park a ghost house beach }aloud {just new in it { I've found a civil war 1/2 token 1863 Great experiance
If I get a chance I will. So how far away do you want the nails from the coin? What machines are you running and have you tried something like I did on my video?

+MrNienh That is true but still the basics are the same. It will still take some good old in field testing for each hunter to get it just right for their way of hunting. I basically wanted to show that the etrac can keep up with most all the new fast machines.
+Валерий Смирнов I still Cherry Pick first with my iron open down to 25fe. Then when those signals end I'll open the fe down to 30. You do dig more nails and bolts but will be surprised once in a while.
@@mowerdog not too many detectors on the market other then Ctx that can go multi unless you bump up like a deus orx x35 coil or the ovel coil forgive for my grammar ya Ctx 3030 very heavy machine you need a strap for yup covers etrac In camp keep it looking nice
@@williamkennedy8768 I tried the 3030 and didn't like the feel and weight of it. I like my etrac much better. I really think the Manticore is going to take the place of my etrac.

Thanks!
Is that the Bill s from “dirt fishing” on TH-cam?
I did the same test a few week ago. I was amazed how the Andy S pattern was better than open screen in TTF. I am going to give your set up a try next hunt!!Thanks for doing the test!!!
+Jersey Digmore Actually the Andy Sabisch pattern in conductive is a good one for a trashy site. I do cherry pick a site first then go more aggressive hunting more like in this video.
Great video...Finally someone who actually shows how it works!
+Robert Lemp Thanks! I'm still learning too!
I thought it was crap in the iron. So I bought a iron cutter. At Max. Your video proved me wrong. That’s gonna open up my permissions. Ty
Good luck!
My pleasure
Hey...finally an Etrac instructional video that makes sense! Very well done. Thank you.
+StivNagen Thanks! Now go and dig it up!
Can't yet. Here in MN, the ground is still frozen like concrete.
That's too bad! Let us know how it works when you get out of the ice age?
Got a pile of nails in the backyard of my 1900 home. I've pulled out much of it but that hidden silver awaits me now - thanks :)
Awesome! Post back with all your silver finds!
Thanks Kenny,
After watching this video I had to try it for myself.
Thank you,
Robert
You have not wasted your time. This is the last type of set up to clean up anything that TTF left behind. I first hunt sites with High Discrimination. Then each time I go over the same spot I slowly open up the Disc. Now only your very hardest targets are left. You will dig more iron but you will also be rewarded... Please post back with your results.....
I run my etrac wide open then start sweeping to see how much iron is present, then move my bar up and down as I hunt. that's the way to get the good stuff in iron.
I like some discrimination but whatever is working for you and others is super. We all hunt a little different.
I think the Andy S pattern is at the 28 line. I will be digging more for sure!!!!
Sweet! Post back often with your results!
helped me alot as a new etrac user relic hunting...thanx
Congrats to you on your etrac! It's an easy machine to run. Check out

+livinright No problem. Are you ready for mushroom hunting?
Absolutely!!!
+livinright Where did you buy your bags last year?
+mowerdog i bought them on Ebay for like $4 or $5 USD :)
I'll get some ordered. Thanks!! Put up a hunting video when you get out there. See ya.
I agree 100%. All ML has to do is put it in an Equinox frame.
Great vid…i'm just learning my etrac and this video gives me some more options to play around in the iron…seems like this machine has endless potential
You just have to unleash the power! Glad you found a tip to use!
I may try that when it warms up. Thanks for the comment
Thanks a lot from here in UK 👍
You're welcome!
its STILL one of the best machines out there! No need for a CTX since the components are the same except its just lighter and fully waterproof !
I found the CTX heavier and it being waterproof is debatable. LOL.
Great video and great info! I saw this posted over on FMDF and followed your tip. I now have two versions of the park pattern saved.. One regular and one with the FE numbers opened up down to around 30. It definitely works to pick out coins among iron. Thanks and subscribed!
+Metal Detecting NWGA I did the same thing. I'll cherry pick with one and use the other program to possibly get another keeper or two.....
Very good sir. Greetings from the UK
Thank you Matt
@@mowerdog Matt Renshaw?
wow awesome video...thanks thata gonna help me a lot squeak out a few more goodies out of my pounced spots. the etrac is truly a beast. it's the king of all machines IMHO
+lookin4zinc It's very hard to beat for sure. You just have to find ways to unlock it's powers!!
Great video. I have a CTX 3030 not e-trac but was fun to watch.
Get on some forums like
Dankowski, Findmall or others. Ask how to set your machine up with
custom programs and such. I believe you have a Hot Rod - you just need
to know how to set it.
Thank you so much I truly appreciate you and this information 😎👍 hope you have a great day
Thank you Derrick. You have a great day as well!!

Awesome man! I going to make the program and save it! Thanks! One of the better videos I've seen on the etrac! HH. Trying this on my next hunt!
+DugMoney Detecting Good luck to you!
great video. this is how I run my machine all the time. wish I would have seen your video a long time ago. I had to learn on my own.
The etrac will hit most coins just about any way you run it. But a few tweaks here and there will get the tough ones. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Nice tip thanks for the video, I realise this was a few years ago, it would have been nice to see if it worked in ferrous too
It won't
what an eye opener!!! Thank you! 🍻
+RelicMedic I used to run TTF when I ran into a lot of iron and nails. I have a lot of places to revisit just like you do. Good luck!
+mowerdog Went out today, tried it out, got a flat button then my motherboard fried. 😭 I think it would have worked well though.
Mother board on your etrac?
+mowerdog yeah. just a constant foil-button falsing even with the coil off. If I touch the pins woth my finger on the head unit where the coil plugs in, it's that same constant falsing
Is it under warranty?
Thanks for this tip Kenny! I'm in the East Central IN area if you'd ever like to hunt out this way. Best Wishes
You're welcome! I'll let you know if i get your way........
thank you:-) I get your point:-)I hope I'll find a way to setup the ctx like you did the etrack, and to see if the ctx find the stuff under iron also:-)
I can't even begin to tell you how many coins I've dug with nails in the same hole. Even with high discrimination the etrac will sniff them out. I'm positive the 3030 will do as good or better. Keep us informed....
Superb video. Truly excellent. Looks as good as a dues with these settings.
+MrAkitaDog I think so too. Thanks for the comment!
A great test but it makes me ask one question. Why would you run the machine in any other setting then multi-conduct? Why does everyone think ttf is the best thing since sliced bread? Does the machine lose depth or something when you go to multi conduct? Strange.
TTF was just a fad. Something new at the time. I even used it some but went back to multi conduct. I saw no advantage with TTF
Great video . Yeah i love my etrac . I am set the same except i come up to 23 . hunting these trashy toronto parks . Best wishes .
+Metal4Detecting Thanks for watching!
Raise the iron disc to 27 and be mindful and leary of a 01 ferrous number.
mowerdog thank you... I will give that a try.
I know having the coin lower than the nails is tough for most machines to hit. But I will try it.
I love this video so much. Thank you for posting it!
+Ardenwolfe Thanks for watching and commenting!
thanks so very much.. I'm gonna get my etrac in 3 days and I'm so glad I saw this! I subbed!

Yes, as I said I pick it up but only from an inch away. How far up were you able to hold the coil until the signal went away?
+Terry Knipschield OK I just went out and to see just how far away I could get the coin. I used the same 2 nails and silver dime. I put the nails within 1/8 inch from the coins in a line just like the video. I put my sens to manual 10 and could hit the coin at 5 inches going slow. I then raised the sens to 20 and it would hit it at 7 inches going slow. I raised my power to 30 and could still only get 7 inches.
just subbed . will be trying these settings out soon.thanks for sharing .
How did it work out?
YOu have done this test also with rusted nails? Using fresh one make a bunch of difference
You have it set up wrong. Email me and we'll get it purring...... mowerdog@gmail.com
Thanks for this info buddy👍🏼 does that setting work great like that on a irony salt water beach?
I'm not sure? I usually disc out fe24 down and leave the upper open when on a salt beach.
awesome vid i cant wait to get out there and try it ive been running in 2 tone ferrous relics mode at old home sites now im gonna go back over them and see what ive missed thanks for the vid bro H.H. subbed
Let us know how many silver coins you dig?
mowerdog, I used your settings and was able to duplicate the iron nails and coin test.
I swapped the ctx against a deus light , I wonder if your trick still works if the coin is lower then the nails????? Gr
Basically my two videos were in response to a video done by Keith
Southern (Relics 1964). He had posted his video showing how the new,
quick and fast machines hits coins around iron. I knew my old and slow
etrac could do just as good so I made these videos. What it certainly
shows is that most of use use too much discrimination. That's about it.
Some have contacted me to do this or that. One guy said to use old
rusty square nails because they had a different iron make up than the
nails I was using. After researching he was right. So I learned
something from him. Yes, I can make the etrac fail but the point of the
video was to show that test for test it will hold up against most
newer, faster machines. Please go watch Keith's video and you'll see
exactly why I made these videos.
th-cam.com/video/oFBaZa14T3A/w-d-xo.html
Try the same test with bent rusty nails and from different angles. I'll bet you'll have a different result. I have owned my etrac since they came out, and just now have my own customized program and settings. I get 14" deep silver dimes mixed in with all kinds of trash, and I am NOT running two tones, am running multi tones conducive.
Cool! Did you make any videos? I would like to see it hit those dimes. We would love to hear about your settings!
@@mowerdog I can only hit dimes at up to 9", then the chirps start to sound iffy. Is that your experience? (Been with the eTrac for about 7 years.)

Brilliant , really ✌🏽💪🏽
Thank you.
Great great vid, thank you:-) just one question could I do this also with the CTX ? I'm thinking to buy a CTX .Gr :-)
Yes you can. Instead of buying a CTX you might consider an Etrac and Atpro for less money. This way you've covered all your bases and will always have a spare or loaner.
Is it possible that the coil doesn't separate well?
+Numisaccent I find that the 11 inch stock coil does well in separation for me.
Awesome video! Thanks for the tips
+Stxdigger Your welcome!
Yes.
It maked it easier the closer ypu have the nails to the coin, try it with just 1 nail next to the coin i bet it struggles to pic that up
mowerdog....I tried the same settings (those I know about), and did not get the same results.
Those 2 settings are the most important ones on an etrac. Set it this way and forget it. Also I have deep to off.
Awesomeness..thanks
No problem
I wish you would have swung 90 degrees in a different direction. I imagine that might make a big difference... does in the field.
In the field I rarely swing both ways. The time that takes I can already be digging.
Great information. Thanks

Fast is On, Deep Of, Trashy and Ground Difficult?
Fast off. Deep off. Trash high. Ground difficult. No matter what you do ALWAYS set trash high and ground difficult.

Please keep in mind those nails are most likely made from steel, not iron. The test would be better if you used two iron nails that were corroded (like the ones you get from the ground).
