@ryanc519: Know that this game was released in 1991. Back then, these graphics looked amazing. Notice how fluid and realistic the main character (along with every other creature) moves. The layers of foreground and background was quite refreshing, too.
When I first read about this game in a video games magazine (can't remember which one), I thought it was pretty innovative. I later found out that digital rotoscoping was really nothing new, thanks to games like Karateka and Prince of Persia.
@ryanc519 Perhaps if this game originally came out in the 2000s, yes, but this game is from 1991. It had a sequel called Heart of the Alien for the Sega CD in 1994.
@blade004 Cruise for a Corpse was one of my favourites, the music and gfx are excellent on that for a game made 20 years ago. Flashback was also not bad.
Those worms were the bane of my existence! I had no idea you could just kick them. I kept trying to jump over them. The monster would get me immediately on the way back.
@Rashlo I didn't do the walking on purpose. During practice of this longplay I'd always barge into a room and get killed lol. And you can see what happens in the tank in the other longplays of this game :P
@@obsoleteworlds What are you talking about? This is objectively a short game; bot that there's anything wrong with it, it came from the 90s, but it is short nonetheless.
I played this game on my SEGA GENESIS ages ago, the SNES and SEGA 16 bit versions were named OUT OF THIS WORLD...and finally I can see the end... *puts on sunglasses* I'm happy I didn't win it (What a lousy ending) but thanx for the upload! YEEEAH!!! BD
@blade004 I repeat, the concept is nice but the execution really needs a lot of work. Just look at the graphics. It looks like something done by a first-year student majoring in computer art. I suppose an inexperienced person can do something better than that. Also, where is the music? A game with no music and minimal sound effect? The original game from which this iteration was inspired might have been very well done. But this crap shown here is absolutely horrendous.
@blade004 Back in 1991, other platformers such as super shinobi on the megadrive/Genesis were WAY more popular than this game of abomination with no music. Plus SFC/SNES came out in 1990 in certain countries. I am sure there were many more games that outshone this game in quality and popularity.
@ManolitoMystiq There were MANY, many games that came out in 1991 and had MUCH better graphics than this crap. Also, realism has nothing to do with good graphics. The Megaman games came out before this crap and they had better graphics.
This looks like an excellently well designed game! The animations and story are amazing! I could only hope to make a game this good!
This game actually reminds me of Heart of Darkness for the PC. Used to love that game, I still have it gladly

Was this game not called Out of This World for the Sega Genesis/MegaDrive, Sega CD, and SNES/SFC?
"Another World" is the European Title, "Out of This World" is the US Title, "Outer World" is the Japanese title.

A port came from the AMIGA game!! With such a music and sound effects!!!

Very impressive all round!
@Rashlo I didn't do the walking on purpose. During practice of this longplay I'd always barge into a room and get killed lol. And you can see what happens in the tank in the other longplays of this game :P
This was programmed by a single guy, I'd like to see you try.
At 6:38 he keeps shooting me before I can get past, why? Playing on GBA.
THE END...
Until we make Another World 2, in which case the main character from the first game dies.
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE
Will this work if I put in a gba flashcart
Yes
@ryanc519: It does. Just look at Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix. The screenshots looked promising, but in motion, it looked like crap.
reminds me of "heart of darkness"
Haywire Windgod indeed HOD was made by Eric Chahi
@Mathiasvandenberge Yeah.
I noticed, and that is completely ok.
This game has it's own arty graphics. The characters have no real textures..on purpose
now there's a genuine unlikely lester!
It's just me or this game looks so much smoother than the SNES version?
Gba is more powerful than snes since it can load many 3D games until I manage to load open lara (open lara is a port of lara croft from ps1)
10 years later.
Seems a tad short.
Is that really all to it?
Any game can look short on a perfect run. This took most people months to beat in reality.
@@obsoleteworlds Taking a long time to beat a small amount of content doesn't change the fact the game has a small amount of content.
@@ShadowMan64572 you're both missing the point.
@@obsoleteworlds What are you talking about? This is objectively a short game; bot that there's anything wrong with it, it came from the 90s, but it is short nonetheless.
@NitroGenesisTAS Haha right, but I like this part ;)
i wish this came out on xbla
A 20 minute longplay? Seems like quite a short game:s
it's reminds me of game "prince" for PC
Dahaka461989 its prince of persia
This is on GBA?
I must have it
Yes
You make this a LONGplay by walking instead of running fe. at 11:53, but you didnt show up the rockets and other fancy stuff when in the tank ;p
If only that reply made sense...
I played this game on my SEGA GENESIS ages ago, the SNES and SEGA 16 bit versions were named OUT OF THIS WORLD...and finally I can see the end...

YEEEAH!!! BD
I could never get far in the game!
I can see why.
This game looks crazy hard!
@Mathiasvandenberge Gotta be better than Heart of the Alien.
HOLY SHIT WHAT
THEY NEED TO MAKE THIS INTO AN XBOX FPS.
Like a mix between Mirrors Edge and Halo.

Oh my god... FUCK this game.
GG
you dont understand nothing

@SashaNein many games made in the late eighties for the NES were better than this game of abomination.
@ManolitoMystiq There were MANY, many games that came out in 1991 and had MUCH better graphics than this crap. Also, realism has nothing to do with good graphics. The Megaman games came out before this crap and they had better graphics.
The 3D effect is pretty cool, not a lot of games do that.
