- The Coast to Coast walk was developed by the legendary fellwalker Alfred Wainwright and follows a 190 mile long route across Northern England. It begins by crossing the Lake District National Park before passing through the Eden Valley, Yorkshire Dales, Vale of Mowbray and North Yorkshire Moors to end at the North Sea at Robin Hoods Bay.
Part 10 of this incredible journey follows 23 miles of the Vale of Mowbray, the flattest of all sections from Coast to Coast. Heading out from Richmond there is the perfect place to stop at Bolton-on-Swale before crossing miles of fields and lanes to reach Danby Wiske (where we decided to break this day down and stay). The following day is then only 8 miles to Ingleby Cross and a relaxing afternoon before hitting the Cleveland Hills next!
Distance: 38.9km
Ascent: 279m
Duration: 10 Hours 52 Minutes

Another stunning video. Thank you!
@@charlottehodgson5093 thank you!
Cracking weather. I'll take cold & sunny over warm & wet any day. Sometimes it's good to have a few sections where you aren't watching your footing. Gives you time to chat with a companion or have some relaxing contemplation. I did the Cleveland Way last year. A cracking walk
@@davidryan4454 thats on our list tp do but we are doing the Ridgeway first as we only just did a bit of the Cleveland Way the other month finishing the Coast to Coast
This section has strong memories for me - not so much the landscape we walked through, but the date 8/9/22 - the day QE2 passed away - we heard as we approached the A1 crossing point - such a sad day. Great videos, really enjoying the pace and the additional info about the areas passed.
Hi Joe.
Another nice video on this wonderful walk/path.
I like the diversity of scenery, I'm sure a good "physical" break from the ups and downs of other sections as well.
As always, great photography and narration!
As info, I have something like this coming up on the AT.
I'm in southern Pennsylvania and am not far from the Cumberland Valley. It's around 16 miles of walking through and around farmlands before climbing up another mountain range.
Look forward to the next section of this great trail.
Thanks for this series!
Joe, As you mention the Vale of Mowbray is considered by some to be the most boring part of the C2C, however I hardly saw it as the day was obscured by rain once again and I kept my head down. My boot's waterproofing was compromised so, when possible, I took some road routes as opposed to the fields. Nice to see parts of the trail I detoured around (all of the part South of the Swale River making up the first half of your video, which looked quite interesting) and the parts that were obscured by the weather when I walked it. You could forgive the monotony of much of this stage when it is followed by one of the best sections, up on the Cleveland Hills. Cheers, Ryk.
