@syed I believe it means our own sins and our understanding of the prophet aleyhiselam and our connections to him. The closer our connection, i.e. love, following his sunnah , sincerity in the way etc the better opportunities we will have to see the messenger of Allah in a manner which reflects his beauty rather than his state in a dream reflecting our deficiencies. I.e. a Mumin is a mirror for a Mumin ..
