A HondaJet is coming, but not sure if it’ll be the S model
Good video. I learned more about this than in other videos that I've seen. ATC background noise was distracting leaving Greensboro. Is the HondaJet something that only turbine pilots could transition to, or could high performance piston pilots transition as well? One benefit that the HondaJet appears to have is that the checklists seem simpler. I watched a video of a Pilatus PC-12 NGX pilot and they went through over 100 checklist items before they could take off.
High performance piston pilots can transition although it would be a much steeper learning curve. The issue would be the speed that things happen in a jet compared to a piston and the pilot would be more susceptible to falling behind the jet. Also the complexity of the systems would be much greater.
Ultimately, your insurance carrier will be the determining factor in whether you can directly transition. In this present environment, I don't think you'll be allowed no matter how much your total time is unless you have a HondaJet type rated CFI as PIC for at least 50 to 100 hrs dual with you. That will be pretty expensive and inconvenient if you want to fly single pilot primarily.
@@jaminthomas Thanks for the detailed answer, Thomas. Makes sense. That's about what I was thinking, but I thought that I had heard that the transition wouldn't be too hard for high performance piston pilots - probably by a sales person.
@@GreatDataVideos Just remember the airlines are taking kids with basically nothing but time in 172's and putting them in the right seat of an RJ without too much trouble. Flying jets isn't hard, it just takes getting used to like anything new. I got my first type rating with 500 hours in an E120. Up to that point the largest and most complex aircraft I had flown was a Baron. Steep learning curve, but entirely doable - and most jets will feel like a walk in the park compared to a big turboprop. The newer generation of jets like this are even easier. Managing the systems of one of these is easier than any old piston twin, mostly automated. The engines take care of themselves and are way less likely to grenade, and even then OEI ops in a jet are a yawn compared to a piston twin or a turboprop. You would definitely have to negotiate with the insurance companies and time with a "mentor" pilot would be a thing. But you'll face that transitioning to any turbine aircraft at this point.

my friend is retired airline mostly 727 ,has very little glass and does not want to learn --my son has only known glass after getting his private pilot--it was nothing for him to go modern jet because he grew up looking at glass on a puter,playing games etc--he is heli pilot and was turbine rated on those but watching him learn it was nothing for him-i get any and all instructions via text now on all my business texts ---anything that looks goofy i ask for clarification
Honda should do a lot more on TH-cam. To promote the jet. There is only little to find out about it in Socialmedia. The grey color scheme must be in right now. There all do it, Diamond, TBM, Cirrus and now Honda. But on the Honda Jet this grey looks awesome. Glad to see some innovative color ideas. Honda should do more on this instead of the all the same jets looking equal except some color change, red, blue, yellow. No fun if everybody got the same jet. I appreciate the individual color design on a million dollar jet. So I am happy to see this Innovation. Keep on going. Nice informative video on this cool jet.

I agree with you…We were not flying ”directly” over the majority of the time. The weather was mostly to our north by 20 or so miles while over the gulf coast as we navigated west bound. Lots of diverts and cancelations either way. Taking some liberty to simply illustrate FL430 capability vs FL410. It is an advantage. Mike BTW, nice to meet you virtually Mark.

Interesting that on climb out his standby ADI with Airspeed and Altitude appears to lock up at a little over 6,000' That is not very comforting.

Good point! You've just found out a small secret when we were editing the video. In fact, we froze that small square of video when its on screen because it flashes rapidly on video. So don't worry! It isn't an error on the aircraft 🙂

One of the things that bother me about the Honda Jet is the Interior look at that 6 foot person in the back on the right side he's wider than the seat, the seats aren't really wide and luxurious as a Piaggio P180 Avanti Evo 2 which flies just about as fast has a larger interior, two turbo prop engines may be a slight bit noisier but it goes farther maintenance and fuel are cheaper at 7.5 to 8 million.
Now some of things I noticed are the Honda Jet is very quiet thats great the automated systems are great but at 5 to 6 million the interior is not as nice or roomy as I'd like it for my family I rather buy a P180 Evo 2 and hope the Honda Jet 2600 does a better job on the interior with the arm rest and everything , also it better not just be an extended HA420
The AccuraJet Is better 🤣
