DEVILDRIVER frontman Dez Fafara says about "Through the Depths":
"'Through the Depths' is a conversation between a higher power and humans regarding the power of thinking ideas into existence, but being very careful of being arrogant behind those wants and needs.
The first lines give this away: “Attention attention, you’re seeking, you've asked for, it’s given" (the higher power says).
Then the lines of the chorus are that same higher power speaking to humans, saying: 'through the depths to the ascension, nothing you wouldn’t do for my attention, held to the fire it’s not my crime, you've pinned it on me for the last time.' Meaning - don’t blame the Gods (pin it on them) for your fuck ups. Meaning - put it out there and take steps to attain goals and take accountability.
This track is the essence of Dealing With Demons Vol. II, and the conversations within the record get way deeper than even this.

I became a metalhead in 2003. Life was Devildriver, Lamb of God, and Chimaira. Those were the holy trinity for me. Chimaira unfortunately dismembered, but luckily LOG and DD are still cranking out music 20 years later! No album will compare to the first 3 of each band because of the impact it had on me, but I shit you not I am just as excited about this new album as I was about Fury. The last 2 DD albums were my least favorite, but this new single brings me back - not to Fury or LKW, but a Winter Kills era which was also fucking incredible. Still rolling with ya, Devildriver!
Seems like Chimaira is back now. They have 2 shows in May for the 20th anniversary of The Impossibility Of Reason. Hopefully they stay together

@@The_JustJoshing They did that afew years ago, came back for afew gigs, think there's too much in the way of them fully coming back and most of them have regular jobs of businesses etc, it's ashame but really Rob I think is the main one who's focus is still all about the music, as far as I hear

This man sounds exactly like he did when I stumbled upon DD like 15 years ago. Insane.
This is a powerful song, and as a Christian here? It makes me think of how the Old Testament is basically God telling us "Guys, I love you all, but you are TRYING MY PATIENCE WITH YOU." I interpret that as Him showing tough love to His greatest creation to help us get back in line. The message of this song where God is telling us "Hey, *you* did that, don't look at Me--take responsibility for yourself," makes a lot of sense to me, because it's when people think they have it all under control is when we're most vulnerable to sin and complacency, among other things. Overconfidence comes from pride, and as it says in Proverbs 16:18? "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." That's what that's making me think, anyway.

Been a big fan of Devildriver since 2003 or so. They lost me a little on Pray for Villains and definetely on Beast but have enjoyed just about anything since. Actually they were the last bigger show I went to since Covid until this year.

Devildriver was the favourite band of my best friend, who sadly took his own life.
He got dealt a shitty hand all through life, especially growing up.
I miss him dearly, and i regret not being there for him when he needed help the most.
It is hard to help others when you feel like you're stuck in a hole yourself, but still.

Dude, I haven't even heard Devildriver for years, and I just happened to check them out after revisiting Coal Chamber recently... And I can't believe Jonathan Miller is playing with them still, I lived with him around like 2012-2013 in a, semi-sober living house, kept in touch for years but glad he's back healthy!

Dez is so amazing live, been lucky to see him at 16, 20, and 26, he was amazing every time! Nothing will compare to being 16 moshing to beast in a huge pit in Atlanta!

I'd recommend sticking with their early material: The self-titled album, Fury of Our Makers Hand, Last Kind Words, Pray for Villains. Beast, Winter Kills and Trust No One aren't bad either, but their latest material is so bland. I think Iona was really the only song that hooked me, just my opinion.

Devildriver took so many places for me they mean so much I’m 43 I, a bricklayer I lost a daughter in 2005 then father from cancer in 2010 got into Iv drugs everything when winter kills came out I was at my worst but thanks to my wife and kids and them spit fire lyrics that mean so much from me from dez in my eyes he does no wrong

Saw them play the Download festival in England back in 2006. They actually played twice that weekend (Friday and Saturday) some band (can't remember who) pulled out and Devildriver filled in for them... quality band
