I was 15 years old when the album Chaos AD came out and then there was a war in my country. I dreamed of buying that tape. I survived the war, a few years later I received that tape as a gift, from then until today I keep it in my room ... there is no price, I would not give it for a million dollars

Fucking definitely. I wouldn't say he's underrated, it's just I've never run into someone who listens to their music. I never liked solos until Max's bands. Literally.
Avoid the wheel of terror and Ozzy Osbourne is mean, he stabs a lots and juggles your soul. Don't worry, if you have a wife or a girlfriend she will warn you.
I can't thank Max and all Cavalera's enough. My 10 year old 90s me IS ALIVE TODAY MORE METAL THEN EVER BECAUSE OF IT! 🤘🇨🇦🙋♂️🖤

One of my favorite parts of this music video is watching the drummer, and the way he plays that fast paced drum groove with such a high level of intensity. It's also really interesting how he applies a unique snare to hi-hat transition that I've never seen before. Moving his arms that fast is most likely in part for show, but it still takes a lot of energy to perform like that, and being that I'm a drummer as well makes it all that more impressive to watch. IMO it's always cool to see musicians provide their own type of self expression through music, and this drummer definitely adds a lot of energy to the song.

There is a drummer from a band called torniquet. I know people do not like christian metal, and I am not really a big fan either.
But Ted Kirkpatrick is really skilled.
This fast paced rythym is common to be heard at northeast Brazil (Salvador,BA for example, where Sepultura recorded ROOTS BLOODY ROOTS). That's certainly afro-brazillian percussion incorporated into metal drumming. Badass AF.
I like how his vocals are angry but not too cookie monstery. The Ellefson factor is also win.

I was a little kid when this album came out but I remember going with my dad to the local record store to buy the album. Jammed it all the way home.

I was the editor for this music video in 2004, cut at doublewide post, NYC. It was shot in SONY HDCam, which is unheard of now. It was the first HD video the directors (The Goodguys, Brian and Nate) and I had ever shot and edited. Check out the faked "super zoom-out" at :45. There's a dissolve between two separate pullout shots.

One of the finest moments in my life was the pleasure of seeing Soulfly live in 2003 and 2006. Dear god Max was a fkn monster back then. Not just him, the whole line up was insanely good but Max, WOW! The energy he brought to the stage, the way he transefered it onto the crowd.. .. iNSANE!

They had to be burning up while making this video. That's some serious dedication.
You can tell it's early in the morning as the sun has not come up first thing in the morning in the desert it's quite cold. 😷🤓
What you don't see are the trailers and tents with fans and bottles of water behind the camera. The takes wouldn't be for any more then the length of the song, and the they would likely stop to re-hydrate and sit in the shade after each one. It looks like a multi-cam setup too, so they were maybe there for a few hours tops.
