    This was a fantastic video. I appreciate your commentary on every single layout where you give some background to it! Amazing work.

      @@WesternSignalman I have re watched your video, I think maybe some one was fiddling with the controls on the television, no your video is perfect, infact i also watched some other well known You tubers video and I wasn't as impressed as the camera work was a little shaky. I like the fact that you did take the trouble to give some one like my self a little bit of a commentary which added to my enjoyment. thanks again.

      No problem it’s great to know you enjoyed the video, you can thank the boy for the commentary when he was younger he would talk all over the videos (as any excited child who loves trains would) and I had to find a way to use the footage but cover up his chatter. Now days he o sits on helping me with the videos and that’s why you get a combination of his clips with my own.

    Thanks for that, most interesting. James Street is superb and BurntIsland magnificent. The commentary was a nice change from all the conversation at 1000 decibels in the background.

      James street is the flagship for what can be achieved in N gauge I think.
      And Burntisland is just magnificent

    Brilliant commentary..... Better than a lot of background chatter'
    The Watermann layout is by far the most impressive. Its good to see the trains being run at mainline speed.

      It certainly is, there was teething troubles but let’s face it something that big on its maiden voyage is always gonna have them.

    Wonderfull video, the time just flew by so quickly with the nice footage and your insightful commentary. Very well made and worth the watch. Also some very lovely layouts.

      There was some excellent layout there just a shame I couldn’t spend longer at some of them but I was a really hectic day and my lad was getting tired.

      The show was so big I had an army of assistants this year with my dad and brother also recording footage for me 😆

    Best video on this year's GETS I've seen. I really appreciate your commentary on the layouts, as it really helps understand to understand what I'm watching and what the modellers are aiming that. Must take you ages on the computer putting it all together. So, bravo.
    By the way, don't know if it's me getting old and my hearing going selective, but I found it difficult to hear what you were saying above the sound of the 08 on the Hornby Magazine TMD layout.

    • @WesternSignalman
      @WesternSignalman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, your right the added commentary does take a lot of extra time over just stitching some clips together but the effort pays off as it does tend to bring a wider audience to my channel. It’s not your hearing, I’ve been having issues with the sound on my videos it’s something I’m still trying to sort. Thanks for watching

    Visited GETS yesterday. Very crowded and a lot of problems with the Making Tracks layout. Saw a lot more in your video which was excellent. Thank you.

    • @WesternSignalman
      @WesternSignalman  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s was crazy busy, I’ve never seen it that crowded before, apparently the issues with making tracks was the power draw from some of the locos as it was running at max capacity. Thanks for watching

    Hi WS, possibly your finest upload yet, even got me interested in MPDs. your commentaries are spot on. Cheers man! 😊

      @WesternSignalman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed there was one more depot layout at the show but I couldn’t get near it to film Byway MPD I think, fantastic little
      Layout I saw argyle Abingdon show earlier in the year (where I did manage to film it)

    Nice video. Thank you for sharing your visit, I found the voice-over very interesting, but it is difficult to hear over the other ambient noise.

    • @WesternSignalman
      @WesternSignalman  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks, this is a constant problem I keep getting I’m assuming it’s when the file is being converted as on the editor it’s fine. Might be time to upgrade. Thanks for watching

      @Blairgowrie_Forest_Railway ปีที่แล้ว

      I've used Video pad Editor, but that might not be necessary. Mabee you could try decreasing the volume of the background by more than 1/2 volume, when you are adding your commentary @@WesternSignalman

      I usually do, but when i played back it wasn’t noticeable to me. Maybe this is something I need to look more into 👍

    I was there on the Sunday. Fab show. Didn’t get to see them all though.

    • @WesternSignalman

      We struggled to get a good look at everything some of the footage is literally how long we spent at a layout, which is a shame as I’d like to appreciate peoples work a little more, but with a tired 5 year and 67 year old in tow it’s difficult to hang around.

    some lovely layouts - Spirit of Shap is one of my favourites. Noticed a pet hate on Wardwood - operators leaning on the top of the backscene!

    • @WesternSignalman
      @WesternSignalman  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a great layout I’ve seen a few times but always difficult to get near and GETS this year was absolutely crazy busy. I hadn’t noticed the lean on wardwood I feel compelled to look now.

    Well produced video - thanks. Two layouts stood out for me, having my ten year old grandson Max with me; one was Burntisland, not because it is a brilliant model (though it is of course), but because they had one of the operators "front of house" specifically to engage the viewers with all manner of anecdotes and information, and the other was White Meadow Quarry who again were making a big effort to talk to the visitors, and even running a little quiz for children where Max won a pack of chews. Got to be honest, some (no names) of the other layouts seemed to be doing their best to ignore the visitors and looked like they'd rather be at home.

    • @WesternSignalman
      @WesternSignalman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes white meadow was very good, he took time explain to me and my son how he used to a quarry like the one on the model as a boy and sit on the edge with his legs dangling off 😆
      Burntisland was 4 deep when we first came round so returned later but even then it was a struggle to get near but when we did, I did notice a chap on the front working the ferry winches giving out info.

    Great video and commentary.
    I guess BR Blue is pretty popular these days... At least half of layouts were this era, if not the mileage! I visited Sunday, great show but only thing missing was some O guage, seen some wonderful O guage layouts over the years and most of us can only dream with space and finance constraints

    • @WesternSignalman
      @WesternSignalman  ปีที่แล้ว

      This year is certainly the first time I felt diesel layouts where king, for me it’s a nice change, steam is lovely but they do tend to fall into a simmiliar theme. Your right there wasn’t a lot of o, if any, most unusual.

    The vision was excellent, but the voice over was at times very faint and I couldn’t turn my volume high enough to hear it all sadly.

      A few people have said this I’m going to look into it as this isn’t the first video I’ve had the problem I’m just trying to work out why as when I play back in the editor all is well 🤔 thanks for watching
