This is correct... But also not Hahah, they directly put norse as the inferior power many times in the games, they make reference to this in a lot of dialogue like when they talk about the fates and their power to time travel for example, but in gow ragnarok specially we see the difference between both magics being that while Greek magic is more about direct control of elements, norse magic is a little more versatile and actually usable by anyone who wants to actually learn it (like Atreus and Odin casting spells directly) and for users who just have enchanted equipment (like dad of boy) also seems to be more focused on time manipulation (not time travel) and space magic, even the elemental ones are more focused on nature rather than on a specific element.

Same thing with the Greek vs the Norse gods. The Greek gods had a bunch of crazy abilities and magic, but the Norse gods due to having their entire culture be based on fighting are physically more powerful and just straight up better at fighting. It’s the whole reason that Thor can put up a fight against kratos even when he eventually goes all out, while an even weaker kratos could bully the Greek gods easily.

Most of what we see Kratos do he was able to do in GOW2 even after he was de-powered by the blade of olympus so we can infer his strength/durability/longevity are just part of his Demi god physiology. However the blades of chaos and his seeming inability to die are implied to be a curse put on him as a result of his actions in GOW3, and in the GOW4 by the time he breaks out the blades of chaos prior to upgrades they behave exactly the same as they did in GOW1 unupgraded which suggests to me they draw on kratos own power/rage, such as it is.

Cory barlog has confirmed that kratos is still getting stronger through the games, so while in gow 2018 he’s stronger than in gow3 and in ragnorok he even stronger still, he just doesn’t have access to his magic or special items. Same thing with the Greek vs the Norse gods. The Greek gods had a bunch of crazy abilities and magic, but the Norse gods due to having their entire culture be based on fighting are physically more powerful and just straight up better at fighting. I’m going to go ahead and clear up any misunderstandings about the God of War series and Norse/Greek mythology. I’m not saying that Norse god’s are so much weaker that they cannot be on equal terms with Greek god’s or be great rivals for them.. I’m saying Greek god’s are more powerful than Norse god’s simply because of the fact they are immortals while Norse god’s can live for a long long time. Odin may have an edge over Zeus because of his Odin’s force but Zeus is immortal and that alone speaks volume. I know the director said that old Kratos could beat young Kratos but I like to think he was just talking nonsense to side with his fans and told them what they wanted to hear. Because I’m sure deep down the director knows that’s not true because young Kratos was not only stronger in terms of raw power and will power, he was more determined and hungrier to get what he wanted which was revenge on the greek gods for putting him in a position to slaughter his own family. Plus he had way more magical powers/abilities in his younger version of himself. Thor even pointed out that “he seen why his sons fell to kratos even in this lesser version of kratos”. If it wasn’t for Thor, Kratos may have never returned to himself as the Ghost of Sparta.

TBF it was already a running theme for Kratos to be depowered and having to build back up his strength/arsenal especially in the first 3 games with his trips to the Underworld. But his inherent powers seem as strong, if not stronger than before...also the weapons he gains in this land seem stronger than their Greek counterparts, though they are fewer.
