- Scape & Run: Parasites is a challenging mod that adds parasite-themed mobs and invasive mechanics to Minecraft. In this mod showcase, we'll look at some of the mobs, while at the same time, exploring the mechanics that the mod implements!

I like to imagine the ancient parasites are culminations of what grew under the beckons for so long. Just like how buglins come out of infected mobs, giant super parasites come out of the infected ground
What's terrifying to me is "ancient". These are the oldest parasites, and the strongest types. Your world is not the first to have them on it, and you're very likely not the last.

Never have I seen a mod that effectively combines horror elements into Minecraft and actually making them work. Normally those mods need to do some gimmick like blindness or jump-scares, but the mobs this mod as and the knowledge that inaction causes more destruction IS the horror. I absolutely love it and cannot wait to see it further developed, and I hope you cover the mod as it gets updated!
Exactly, the act of doing nothing which equals to even more powerful parasites appearing can result in a tense feeling of pressure to become strong fast and control the situation before it becomes worst. Awesome!

Art comes in many shapes and sizes, and in this case disgustingness levels
Now, I am never more inspired than before to complete my private modpack. It would be really cool if my pc can handle it, since I also plan to add turrets that would provide air defense (imagine a military C-RAM responding to flying parasites). It would also be cool if we can cleanse the infected hotspots with flamethrowers, napalm, incendiary rounds, pretty much anything that involves fire (having compatibility with most mods that introduce fire stuff) to destroy most infected life forms just like you would on a zombie apocalypse. Imagine a demolitions team being deployed in an infected area, something like that.
The cave dweller is a pretty cool horror mod that stays true to Minecraft

yeah this mod is F@CK!NG Madman with all these difficulty that are a punch in our gut.
i mean they hit a lot of enemies at once, they jump super high, some of them are flying, good swimmers at water, ascapes at lava with less that minor injuries and serious debuffs. yeah your pretty f@cked up sinse so far there are not *recipe armor* in this mod

I love how it only needs one parasite to start the downfall of an entire minecraft world. This just shows how efficient and effective this mod is. What a great mod.

I hope the Mod creator also makes mobs that are against the Parasites. Since the Parasites are indeed trying to invade, wouldn't there be a opposing force to counter it?

My tip for playing this mod is playing it with davincis vessels. You must either have a highly secure base or a moving one. Davincis vessels makes it to where you can make your own house boat or flying ship. If one chunk is loaded too long then more parasites will spawn.
Im in a desert right now and they just dont spawn there, also you could get the modular turrets mod. I would also recommend Valkyrian Skies instead of Davinci's Vessels, Valkyrian Skies lets you walk around on your ship and use modded blocks on the ship, I havent tested much with it but turrets work on them so everything else probably does too.

Man, this was a really great overview and explanation of the mod!
You can tell this mod got inspiration from the Flood from Halo and I love it. Halo was one of my favorite games growing up.
This could be a really cool overworld event, like you have 5 days of normal Minecraft, and afterwards the parasites are released. Then you have to rush to beat the game before the overworld becomes inhospitable.
Yeah like have a few rupters spawn in randomly in the world when you start that makes it so soon the overworld is impossible to live in. And for a even hellish experience in the future they need to make it so soon the parasites enter the nether and the end and give the ender dragon a special infected form if the player spends to much time.
Currently they only spawn on the second day
@@medic9127 maybe not the nether bc parasites are not adapted to hot temperatures, and until the player builds the nether portal, the parasites have no access to the nether. same with the end, they can't access it before you put the eyes on the portal frame.
With Vic’s mw this would be a lit modded experience
@@medic9127 Or maybe instead of rupters, there is just one level 1 beckon somewhere in the world and you either need to find it and eliminate it fast, or gear up enough to be able to fight it at a high level.

That would be cool. Zombie awareness and rough mobs would be both good for this
I'll do you one better. Imagine a "crash landing" style modpack on a ruined city world type. your goal is to survive the nightly onslaughts of these abominations by building up defenses, researching new technologies, and crafting new weapons. As you find key components to repair your spaceship, the difficulty ramps up. At the final segment of progression, you must defeat the boss mobs at the end of a massive final swarm before escaping in your ship.
Tbh, I'm probably gonna put this mod with the most random of mods and ruin the entire experience, but it'll be sooooooo worth it.

When this comes out on the newer versions I am gonna have loads of fun playing this with my friends on a server!

@@epicdestroyer223 It wouldn't really be that impossible, at the start at least. The only time we've seen the possibly of the player getting 1 shot by these mobs was when the player (or a mob with the same health pool as the player) didn't have armor and when the bigger creatures attacked. Realisticly, the average hardcore player would have some amount of armor by day 3-5, which should be around the time you would first see the weaker creatures. And the more dangerous creatures only appear when the weakest ones get enough kills in a group, so just kill them in their weakest state before they start evolving.
This is one of the most fascinating mods I've personally seen in Minecraft

I think the best aspect of this mod is not the incredibly disturbing but beautiful body horror but the animations of the mobs, they are well made, smooth as hell and make the monsters you encounter look really good
I get heavy Dead Space feels, especially with the infected mob heads after you kill them, and the concept of them merging together and becoming stronger... it blows my mind.

Even without the intention of installing this mod, you will most likely end up watching the whole video due to how entertaining the video is aswell as how cool and animated the mod is. The showcase is also insanely good and explains everything properly without any flaws. The music is just insanely good aswell to the point that you can notice it. 10/10

All my support to the person who has made the mod. I love it, very extensive and its pretty cool with many mobs. Mojang launch an update between 3-6 months, IDK how much longer has taken this person to make this but for sure Its more worked than any minecraft vanilla update.

@the golden doomslayer Zerg are knockoff tyranids tho. Starcraft started as a Games workshop warhammer game before it got dropped and the team simply kept going but changed stuff to avoid copyright. The massive vehicles, adaptive bug swarm of tentacles and teeth, the large pauldron power armour, the feudal rule of government, the xel'naga being the Old Ones etc.
Tho I do think zerg have been flushed out more than Nids simply because the whole "mysterious extra-galactic swarm of unimaginable size" lets them seem more actually alien and lets GW figure out a unique and compelling backstory. Zergs being originally apex adapters favored by gene editing aliens, but retaining individualism and them succumbing to a power hungry hivemind just deflates their terror factor because their struggle is just a rewrapped human one. It takes away the benefits of an insect/swarm species because they are fundamentally understandable. Nids on the other hand retain their lovecraftian nature as they are unknowning, which is a testament to their Alien movie inspiration source

1.) The Tyranids outnumber the Flood MASSIVELY. Last I checked, The Flood originated in and is confined to the Milky Way. Meanwhile, the Tyranids have devoured entire galaxies over the course of their existence.
2.) Tyranids can tank multiple .75-cal bullets to the face without issue. The Flood gets stopped by .308.
3.) The Tyranids can control their own evolution. The Flood, IIRC, cannot.
4.) The Tyranids have psykers (or psyker-like bioforms), and a SINGLE psyker in 40k has the power to glass planets on their own. The Flood does not.

This looks absolutely awesome! I hope the mod devs add multiple different kinds of infected blocks though like infected dirt, infected wood and infected stone. That way the infected environment doesn't look as one-note and cleansing doesn't leave you with just a big mound of dirt.

A very well made mod, it's amazing how grotesque they managed to make it.

Played the mod today with some friends today, and it's fucking horrifying. It also makes the game more about teamwork and staying alive together.

that's an amazing modpack !! such creative designs. if i could add my input, i'm a little concerned about one thing, balance wise: how about gear? you're adding a lot of difficulty enhancing mechanics, it may get impossible rather quick. asides from the weapons, will better armor be available as well?
it is available now, but the best parasite armor and weapons are creative-only; you can use craft tweaker to add recipes for them, though
I LOVE this mod and it reminds me A LOT of the Zerg from Starcraft. Honestly, I'd love to see the addition of where if you die to the parasites, you become one and can end up becoming the ruler of them and start infesting your own stuff.

came back to the video after a year or more or less for memories. the first time i saw this on my tv i wanted it so badly so when i finally got a computer (which is what im using rn) i had my pepa get curseforge so i could finally play the mod and i loved it. and it was all cause of this video.
it's pretty interesting how the mobs design is on a sweet spot. If it was closer to minecraft vanilla style they wouldn't feel that disturbing, but if it was more realistic and crude they would just feel out of place and not believable. They land on the uncany valley

Agreed. It usually REALLY bugs me when mods don't strictly adhere to the base game's blocky aesthetic (to the point where I dislike 99% of all dragon mods because they're not as minimalistic as the Ender Dragon's model), but here it's very nice both aesthetically and thematically.
Lycanite mobs is too realistic and fish undead rising is too minecrafty
reminds me when the game still had zombie pigmen and they had blood instead of green stuff on them

-SUMMON AN ANCIENT IN REVENGE
-the ancient is an Overlord so he gets rolled over.
Zombies are not revivable and especially not from Villagers. And don’t worry, the zombies are fine, they probably don’t feel anything.

Seems like Tiberium to me. Especially the Beckons work just like one of those spore trees in Command and Conquer.

If the other hostile mobs could fight back the parasites you could temporarily team up with them against the parasites
I saw a skeleton kill a yelloweye, zombie pigmen also kill parasites (if enabled in the nether) until they are all adapted, where all goes to hell

Honestly, it makes sense the Endermen can't get infected, they really aren't truly living beings. They should be a mod that could basically an anti-parasitic mob.
I think you are confusing them with guardians or warpers from subnautica.
If they updated this game i hope the ender dragon has the key to curing the parasite
Nah I would love to see infected enderman it would be super creepy maybe in the future update they will add it

We've played our own Mod pack called Infested that included S&R but there needs to be a way to fight back. Not just doming yourself in and do nothing but farm carrots. Maybe a laboratory where potions could be created to fight back. Once we reach level 5 or 6, nothing to do but just give up and reset the world. Adding Blood moon, you only last 3-4 days then quit. That was stressful.
There should be an overmind like starcraft as the absolutely final boss in the infected dimension to finally stop the infection.
