    Just wanted to say thank you for uploading this. It was just the inspiration I was looking for to build a durable outdoor bag, which I've now done, and it's cost next to nothing.
    I made it using 8 tyres (approx. 5ft), and it weighs 60kg. I ran the straps through the centre's of the pipes so I could add a bigger tyre on top to act as a kind of uppercut doughnut. I highly recommend this to anyone thinking about making their own; it's something your rarely get on a heavy bag and feels great. Just don't run the pipe as close as I have to the outside of the tyres, especially if using soft tyres, or you'll feel the pipe. I thought there may be a chance the pipes may break making it this way, but despite my best efforts over the past few months I haven't been able to get them to.

    Perfect. Thanks for the upload. I ruined my heavy bag after letting it be outside for 3 years "whata POS i am", the stuffing got rained down so the top half is empty and the bottom is hard as a rock. This will be way better and it'll last outside:)

    Wow! I've never thought of this. First I've seen. Very good enginuity! So that's why I keep wanting to collect all of the old tires I keep finding. I suppose the tires could even be filled if someone could use a very heavy heavy bag.

  • @valkyriereginleif4103
    @valkyriereginleif4103 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Best part that I see is that it'll never get moldy, rust, or fall apart due to the elements. And, nobody will be tempted to steal it (hopefully). :) It's not easy to hang bags outdoors in the high desert where the weather changes from insanely hot to freezing at the drop of a hat.

  • @Kewlus
    @Kewlus  11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks. One tire weighs around 10kg (20 ponds). The bag has 6 tires, so around 60 kg or 120 pounds. If you need it to be lighter, try 5 tires. If you want a heavier bag, add more tires or use larger tires.

    Hah, never thought to use PVC to hold the tires together instead of bolting them together. Now that's awesome. too bad I'll have to borrow some drill bits to make the hole big enough for something like that, as opposed to just using half inch drill bits that come with any standard drill kit.

  • @Nicraz00
    @Nicraz00 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you. The drill bit wasn't a problem but the actual drill was. I had a hard time drilling through the tire. I probably need something more powerful.

    Finally People complaining about it been cheaper to buy a real heavy bag have no idea what weathering does to a heavy bag when you have to keep it outside. Especially in shitty bad weather countries.

      The Pixel Paradox 5 years later, but you can get tires for free from tire change shops and you can use heavy bolts, washers and nuts to fasten them together.
      Then chains to hang it.

  • @AFROTHINKER

    Great idea, my only worry is that you said about going to the scrap yard and asking for tires if they could donate, problem I see with this is that although it would take a lot of time these tires are already worn or cut into like the clearly visible cut seen on the top tire you put onand a serious trainer is still going to wear off rubber give a good solid kick when that steel belting starts to peak out and see how long it takes to dig out those metal slivers. I'd recommend getting dollar store duck tape and wrap the hell out of it after filling in those slices with pure silicone. Then this thing will last forever.

    • @DoomRater
      @DoomRater 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'd be surprised how many tires have to be tossed simply because the hole is unpatchable due to it being too deep or in the wall of the tire. Also, heat damaged tires are undrivable but they still have their tread depth just fine. Honestly you could beat on it with a sledgehammer for a hundred years and it'll still be around longer than your sledge.

    it's a special drill bit for making large diameter holes - ask for it at your hardware store. It normally comes as a set of different large diameters.

    i don't have room in the house to hang a heavy bag. so i have to use one strictly outdoors. this thing works perfectly for a bag you can just leave outside. and for the gloves i just duct taped an old pair of cheap Everlasts, not using my Grants on this thing.

  • @ApidaeY
    @ApidaeY 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very good idea. wonder if there's a way to avoid using the straps, maybe a long threaded bolt through the tires with nuts on each end to tighten? probably cost a lot more though.

    • @Kewlus
      @Kewlus  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Kyle. True, bolts and nuts would be more costly and more complicated. If I had to do it again, instead of straps I would just use heavy duty polypropylene rope like in my latest Total Stand.

    Tape some plastic over the top tire, and drill a few drainage holes, and you can avoid standing water inside (mosquito farm).

    • @Kewlus
      @Kewlus  10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      No need. This design already has holes in the tires all the way through to the bottom, so water drains well. My tire bag stands outside and after rain no water collects in it, so no mosquito farm. :-)

      Incase you didn't know i have been doing Muay Thai for 3 and a half years. So stay quiet.. You 'boxers' all have the same attitude resort to violents at the first step, I would stick to beating on your bag mate, you can't even throw a jab properly, i'd give you 1 leg kick in the ring and you would scream.. I'm telling you that as a fact buddy. Stop resorting to violence you wannabe. I've fought 13 Muay Thai fights and finished them all. 'Boxers' Shake my fucking head at you lairy cunts.

      This reply is for both of you. Toneehh, you wreak of bullshit. You knock on him for making his profile pic of him wearing gloves and saying he's showing off, yet you claim to have 13 amatuer muay thai bouts that you've finished everytime. That's bullshit. Don't play the "i dont care if you don't believe me." Because you do care. That's why you're trying so desperately to convince him that you're better than he is. Iron Toldeo, you're dealing with an asshole but it also makes you look like an asshole when you say you'd knock him the fuck out for saying that to your face. I know he's an asshole, and I'm mostly on your side.

      you're simply an idiot. I can't get over how absurdly stupid you are, and how oblivious you are to that fact. You can't generalize all boxers like that, and you clearly were looking to instigate. You aren't doing muay thai for the right reason if you're just doing it to brag online. You won't go far, and I doubt you're as experienced in muay thai as you claim to be. If you were that experienced you'd realize how stupid you sound. I wish your kru could see what you were writing. He would undoubtedly boot you from the school, or humble you.

      In the end I ended up using just rope - try just using rope to lash the tires together.

    Good idea but can't knee or elbow the tyres??? Your'd need further padding in thai boxing

    How do you get the holes drilled in the tyres to line up perfectly. What method did you use?

    Anyways I kinda had an idea what if you wrap it with a long as hardish softish foam around it and taped it on do you think if would be a pretty good diy heavy bag so like you can do a lot of stuff on it without padding in your shins
