Great to see another video of a new car rebuild series! Yes, LS swap would be cool. Say, do you still have the Z28? If so, would love to see an update and see/hear it running! Happy Thanksgiving, Ryan!
Personally, I would keep it stock and rebuild any and all components to make it a really great driver. Of course upgrade the brakes ! The car looks good in blue and with rally rims. Love the understated simplicity of the base car. Too many loud and annoyingly overdone cars out there. This is a fantastic survivor !!
What a great find Ryan, they sure seem to come your way. 1970 was the end of an era for Chevrolet and GM for that matter. This is a great , mostly unmolested template for your vision. I would agree, clean it up, do some maintenance , drive and enjoy it. You will be amazed how people will be drawn to it as is. I suspect the transmission seals are hard and take time to build pressure. Sometimes additives will soften seals and garner success. You have a lifetime of projects as I can so relate. Good luck, best wishes.
LS3 and 6 speed will be a great combo. If it were me, from the outside I'd make it look like a stock-ish SS 454, but with the LS3 and 6 speed driveline. I look forward to watching this one.
Cool Find Ryan! I enjoy your relentless pursuit. You know me, I'm more of an "original" guy so you know my answer already. But I'm looking forward to your LS build!
Nice, I was going to say it looked like it was a vinyl top at one time and you mentioned it. I always like the vinyl tops. Transmission I'd throw 2 or 3 bottles of lucas Transmission in it. It wont hurt it any and may save you from pulling the Transmission out and after the valves all get working change the fluid and filter. But it's your car just some ideas. Goodluck with it.
Hey Ryan, I haven't talked to you in a while, sorry about that. Nice Chevelle !! I got one when I was 21, but it was no where in that shape, yours is practically cherry. Mine I traded a 87 short bed Custom Deluxe Chevy with a fuel injection 305 for it. I had wrecked that thing 3 times and it needed about everything replaced on it so I figured it was a good trade. Mine was a 70 Malibu like yours, the guy let me piece it together from 3 Chevelles he had to get the best parts. It had no engine or tranny. Corvette rally wheels, and it was complete except for no engine or tranny. Red with black vinyl top. I kept it for a few years, cleaned out the interior and trunk, peeled off the vinyl top, things like that. In the long run I didn't have time to work on it so I just sold it in the end. Wish I had of kept though. Good luck with your new project bro. Thanks for the video and God bless you and your family.
I would do the LS and I do think it be worth more as a resto-mod since it is not an SS. love what you did with the Camaro watched every video on that one. Will be watching this also thanks for the video
Check the vacuum line to the modulator if you have 1 gear and reverse but not the others my guess would be the vacuum line or a bad vacuum modulator the transmission needs that to calculate engine load and without it you won’t shift. I have had my Camaro for 30 years and let it sit for 15 and the line deteriorated and so I had the same problem
LS3 & TR6060 is going to have constraints. If doing all the work to convert to a manual trans, I'd prefer the Magnum. Of course, if the price is right it can be the best choice. Bench seat isn't staying though.
This car would look soo good "maroon". Deep maroon. I mean it looks great as is. Great car. And I'm telling you. These Malibu's are great cars. Always was partial to Malibu's.
I was thinking LSA with a six speed, but I guess I’ll allow the LS3 instead! Ryan, that’s gonna be a killer set up! That car is in great shape! Gotta go blue with white SS stripes, or white with black stripes!
I would clone it into a SS396 Chevelle with the ZL2 flapper cowl induction hood with a manual TKX 5 speed with 3.55 posi gears. Everybody does the LS swap. Why copy everyone else?
First of all I have to say the 1970 Chevelle is THE car to have, my holy grail car is a ‘70 LS6 Chevelle SS with Muncie 4spd. and they bring huge money. Being that yours isn’t an SS I would do it the way you want. Everybody and their brother are building LS swap or rebuilding clones. I would do a Carousel Red car with the black SS stripes, 396 or 454 the 6spd trans. stock style low back buckets an SS style but not a tribute or a clone car.
Ryan, it’s your soap and you body so wash it as fast and however you want to! lol If it was mine I think I would check the numbers on the tranny and engine. If it’s a numbers matching I would rebuild the tranny, clean it up real good and drive it some and put a little more thought into it. If it’s not numbers matching, a LS would be a cool build for a body in that good of shape! If it was mine and not matching numbers I would do a LS or build a 396 or 427 and give it what it could have been back then. I had a 67 SS 396 Chevelle in high school in 71 & 72 and I’ve always liked the big blocks from the muscle days. What ever you decide to do I will watch all of the videos that you post on it because I know what every you do that you’ll do it right!
I would stick a 454 in there and rebadge it as an SS and paint it a solid blue. Get rid of the vinyl top. Throw a couple bucket seats and a 4-speed Muncie.
In the trunk , what your pointing to are called drop off panels , they just keep everything from falling into that crevice. AS for the BUMPERS , THEY are very adjustable. Losen the bolts and move around , get some help.
I actually recently did that with the Camaro and love it. Didn’t have to cut a thing. Mainly thinking the 6 speed instead since it holds more power and would come with the LS3 my buddy has already as a package deal👌
You build what YOU want to drive, not what everyone else thinks you should build. Loved the Camaro series, looking forward to this one.
Thanks man!
Completely agree!! It’s his car and his decision, not ours.

I'm very glad that you have a straight clean Chevelle.
The cut out on the trunk floor on passenger side is where the jack stand post goes for the spare tire.
Glad you showed the cowl tag. I always like seeing how the car was born. Code 78 Black Cherry exterior is pretty cool.
Great find. Cars just find people. It is great the vinyl top was removed a while ago.
If that is a all original car I would leave it the way it is. Clean it up do some rust repair. Drive it to local car shows and cruises
That Malibu is a perfect candidate for a Chevelle SS replica build. Lots of potential with this one.

Gonna be a nice one !! I had a 72…. Loved it !!

Chavy good job on everything else going on with you and I cool.

That’s a super find 👍
My high school car was a 1970 chevelle ss. I wish I still had the car. Love them
I'd change all fluids and filters before I would've started it. Oil, trans, etc..Congrats.
I'm fine with original stock cars, that's what I like, but this is your car do what you like have fun with it.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family

I appreciate it! I agree, it would be worth more with a proper LS swap
I would do a restomod like you said.
Looks like it’ll end up being another great car Ryan. Happy Thanksgiving to you

Amazingly rust free. Ultimate sleeper with an LS swap!
Hell yeah, LS that's what I'm talking about. And then paint it back the bill color that burgundy and build her to be a SS clone

That piece is for the jack mount
Try some Trans x in the Transmission. That will Free up all of the Valve body and Other things in the Transmission.
Hows the Camaro doing? Can't wait to see you start detailing the Malibu.
Want to do an LS3 T56 Magnum F in my Camaro with the Holley terminator ecu. Supposed to be a really nice setup.
This car would look soo good "maroon". Deep maroon. I mean it looks great as is. Great car. And I'm telling you. These Malibu's are great cars. Always was partial to Malibu's.

It is getting some stripes for sure!
@@RyanSampsonRPh Awesome!

Build it how you want like you said it's not a SS
I have a 70 ss 396 so I left mine original... with that one I would do the ls swap ..
First of all I have to say the 1970 Chevelle is THE car to have, my holy grail car is a ‘70 LS6 Chevelle SS with Muncie 4spd. and they bring huge money. Nice! Are you selling it?
I love this series but no one ever give prices on what they pay?
I would stick a 454 in there and rebadge it as an SS and paint it a solid blue. Get rid of the vinyl top. Throw a couple bucket seats and a 4-speed Muncie.
Four speed swap, do you still have the z28
How many miles.
Your car , your money, your way.
Did you sell the Camaro? You were pretty fed up with it a couple of videos ago.
In the trunk , what your pointing to are called drop off panels , they just keep everything from falling into that crevice. AS for the BUMPERS , THEY are very adjustable. Losen the bolts and move around , get some help.
I'd get a bench seat with arm rests. I hate no arm rests. Lol.
Look into a Tremec TKX 5 speed, they’re supposed to fit classic cars without floorpan modification.
I actually recently did that with the Camaro and love it. Didn’t have to cut a thing. Mainly thinking the 6 speed instead since it holds more power and would come with the LS3 my buddy has already as a package deal👌
Go wild, Coyote swap it!
If you're ls swap use a 4L80E trans behind it they're stronger than 4L60E
Just picked up a T-56 magnum level VI 6 from RPM 🙂
I would make it an SS if you’re going to go that far
I have a 68 Chevelle in the trunk that is siock
The guy didnt want you to have the car
Id spend my money fixing that z28 before I would have opened this can of worms
Power wash it and drive it.
Money pit purchase sell it NOW
How so? Any car can technically be a money pit..
Big block
Very poorly done.
