    I’m in my late seventies now, and I can’t get over how much this world has changed then when I grew up. I’m 37 years sober now because god made himself real to me, there’s no more crucial moment in a persons life then when he or she is encountered by God, that moment sets in motion the rest of one’s life. ( It sure did mine ..) i’m really ready to leave earth 🌍 whenever God decides ...I’m ready✅

    Thank you for addressing this and making it clearer to the average person. I was in a small meeting of a ministry recently and the pastor had brought someone new onboard. I noticed that the pastor made a comment that "this is not about doctrine." I didn't understand at the time, but this new person who has many gifts and talents, I have realized is a progressive. Yes it is about the love of God, but how do we even go there if our doctrine is warped? Truth sets us free and we do not find truth in warped doctrine. Can you imagine being awash in this progressive doctrine and not being able to go to the Word because the Word does not count? Progressives I have come to know are pretty adamant that the Bible is not the Word and my experience is that the truth of the Bible just does not exist in their world. Body of Christ, be careful, this is huge. I feel like we are moving into something we have not really seen before. Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

      I fully agree with you as a progressive! But you left out the description in Matt 7:22 " Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’" Tell me if you think it is the progressive Christians that will say that, in verse 22?

      @@PjotrII People can call themselves whatever they like, I suppose. It doesn't change what Jesus said; '... only the one who does the will of my Father...' will enter the kingdom of heaven. @@teej0813 Yeah, here we meet a common problem (that actually don´t have anything to do with progressive views). If we start to tell others what problems they have, instead of focusing on our own (as we are often eager to do it, and it is easier to critique others than to correct ourselves). Jesus talked about it in Matthew 7:1-5 "“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

      @@MAN-pp4qg I'm asking in a legitimate sense. Through my life, I have seen many people talk of being involved in the religion but they heavily cherry pick specific things they think fit better. I pointed to those two examples which both talk about truth and Jesus' relationship to the truth. Jesus did answer Thomas but did not answer Pilate and I personally believe it was at least partly because of their respective attitudes behind their questions. That said, which specific verses are you referring to that you take issue with? Oh, and are you a self-professed Christian?

      @@worldupsidedown1 it's not an authentic saying of Jesus. It's an anachronism that the writer of John put in Jesus' mouth after the faithful were able to contemplate the extent of the meaning of Jesus' resurrection. It's the appropriate way for the faithful to look at Jesus because his words are light and life, coming from God. But in no way should it be taken to mean how evangelicals tend to interpret it. The synoptics are silent on statements like this coming from Jesus, and certainly such an outlandish thing to say would not have gone unaccounted for by every single one of the synoptic writers! At best we must understand here that John is portraying Jesus speaking as the Logos which is in keeping with the theme of the book--it is written with considerable theological development. Yes it is true that Jesus is the way the truth and the life, and the Cosmic Logos is teaching through him, but it doesn't mean that there are not people in the world who never heard of Jesus, yet who are children of God and part of the body of Christ because they nevertheless followed in the narrow Way of the Logos that has been with man perennially.

      @PjotrII 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @forevermenot777 I am fully for the thing that we all should reflect on, and discuss different views we have, to try to define what is true. For one the most important thing could be that they engage in social life by helping others, for some it is to study scripture, for some it is to reflect on ones own behavior etc... we can have different views on secondary matters, as long as Jesus is the center of our belief.
      As a progressive, I believe God created the universe, he sent Jesus to teach us how to live with other humans, as we all have sinned, he died for us on the cross, we should believe in him, and learn from his love, and through his death he can open the doors to eternity after we die.
      Now are there things I might not believe, sure... like I might think that it´s not inspired by God that the "Israelites should kill the enemy´s women and children"... and while someone "evangelical" could claim the bible is fully inspired, they too could have problems with the same passage.
      I´ve learned through life that the simple answers are not always true, or they leave out important data. Among progressives there is a wide variety of ideas and thinking, to put them all in a box is like saying: Do you know how Americans are? Well here are 20 Americans, they are pedophiles... you can guess out the rest. I am quite sure 20 pedophiles is not a good reference to "all Americans"... and in the same way, picking up the worst progressives (that progressives themselves do not agree with) is not a good reference to the average progressive.
      I wish you all well, and I urge you to more critically examine data in general (and in this case with progressives) in the future.... CYA in heaven!

    I just found your channel/podcast and have been watching so many. My husband and I were just discussing how a certain church in our area believes in gods word as a guidebook/inspiration instead of the divine and complete word of god. It’s heartbreaking to see a congregation spill theory as that. I teach the Bible and while I don’t believe we should take everything in the Bible literally, I believe it is the literal word of god. That gives us context and culture to work around while always understanding the divine natural of gods word to us. (Meaning we aren’t all called to sacrifice our sons as Abraham was Isaac but we can certainly know God put that in his word for us to learn and study from) As I study gods word more and more, I grow more conservative in my Christianity. It’s hard to see how you can grow more progressive but sadly it happens.

I would love to add or explain why Jesus said to the Canaanite woman that “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs, (Matt. 15:26). The reason I want to explain this topic is because of my Isrselites background.
    Here, Jesus had a purpose to say that. 1) Because the Israelites considered the other nations sinners or (dogs), 2) Jesus meant to say that to the Canaanite woman, as a Jew, but his aim was to show to his disciples that the Canaanite woman is not a (dog) as the Israelites considered her because of her background. 3) Jesus showed his disciples that even the non-Jews are accepted by him, through faith in (Christ) and the Gentiles are God's creation, and through (Christ) no Jew or Gentile, but two become one 4) Jesus said, " O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire" (Matt. 15:28). Finally, Jesus showed his Jews disciples that this Canaanit woman has faith in him, more than the other Jews who rejetced Christ.

    When I was very young, between 3-7 my family read the Bible and talked to me about the Bible and stories from it. My first real and only church experience was at 7. My grandparents took me to Catholic church. During this service when the "father" began reading from the book of Revelation my eyes literally closed. The More I tried to force my eyes open to read revelation I got a worse and worse headache. After this I went home and prayed. God told me to read the entire book before I read Revelation. So I began.
    Over the next 17 years I read and studied the Bible in its entirety, but eventually focused on the new testament, specifically Matthew Mark Luke and John.....during this time between 7 and 24 years old many times I tried to read revelation, even just a few sentences. And every time I tried to read it my eyes would physically close and I would get a headache.
    However, I did read the first few verses of revelation MANY times over that period as I started the book of Revelation a thousand times, but I couldn't get past the first 4 or 5 verses when I tried.
    Sometime in the summer of 2000, when I was 24, I began trying to read the book of revelation and this time God let me. No more headaches or eyes closing.
    It was then very shortly into reading it something stuck out,
    But I didn't know exactly what,
    It was a feeling in my gut,
    so I asked God what am I missing..
    He said "Listen closer."
    After reading the beginnning of revelation numerous times I finally realized I recognized a phrase,
    Rev...1:3.
    "for the time is near".
    Until this point I even though I had read it numerous times before, I was so focused on reading more before my eyes would close and a headache would start I didn't hear it closely until this point.
    I immediately began searching where else I heard that phrase. Soon I found it;
    In Luke chapter 21, verses 7-8:
    This is where Jesus Christ specifically tells us to not follow the many who come in his name claiming 'I am He' and "the time is near"-
    Jesus says do not follow those who use that exact phrase.
    I eventually googled the phrase and found that the author of revelation uses that phrase twice.
    I asked God if what He was showing me is proof that he warned US about Revelation and that it is a false prophecy- He said "what does My Word The Bible say?"
    Listen, the reason how I know this doesnt matter because it doesn't change what Jesus says;
    Jesus says do not follow the many who come in His name claiming 'the time is near' - the author of Revelation then uses that EXACT phrase TWICE, once in the first chapter and again in the last chapter: effectively sealing the entire prophecy called Revelation with a phrase JESUS CHRIST tells us not to follow anyone who uses it.
    Since 2000 I have been quietly talking to people and showing them this. Whomever will listen- which hasn't been many. In August of this past year(2020) I asked God what else am I supposed to do. He said make a video and tell everyone.
    So, I did.

    Im currently getting in debates in church with people who believe everyone always gets healed. They ignore Timothy's frequent illness and Paul's advice to him to take a little wine for his stomach. And of course the answer is that he wasn't really sick but just constantly having an intake of foods that had bacteria. Thus, he wasn't really sick as such. Either way Paul didn't claim the power of God to protect our stop this. Unfortunately, our church doesn't preach sound doctrine. And so we have a mishmash of individuals with various theologies that make for a very confused fellowship with weak leadership. They seem to worship unity in and of itself as more essential than sound teaching. I guess for them it keeps the numbers up and 'money coming in the door.'

    Thanks for this list. I have noticed over the years that other "religions" take Christianity and tweak it to be a little different (some are way different of course) but a lot are just a little different. Denying Jesus' divinity, Trinity and Jesus being the one way. It is shocking to see churches moving in this same direction. Satan is so good at what he does and so many people don't see it.

    I've been reading a book called 'Game of Gods" by Carl Teichrib and Alisa's video reminds me of the Oneness movement that has been around for some time and now we are seeing it in the Christian church. A strategic planned out scheme by organizations all over having meetings, social gatherings & festivals that use inviting words, themes & speeches but are all for a universal religion of all faiths coming together as One in a utopian togetherness of cosmic energy with nature being worshipped in place of our Christian one Holy God. It's all about the New World Order. These ideas have been around for years but they say it takes time for transformation. 😲😔

Going back to the Old Testament there always has been and always will be false teachers who want to satisfy or follow the trends of this passing society than the eternal truth of God. And the Bible is very clear that those who push false doctrine will have even greater judgment than those who are being misled by them.

    I've been to four churches in my area...looking for a home...family. I've loved Jesus from a child and done bible college, a degree in counseling, then honors. But I found the churches lacking in knowledge of who Jesus is, the bible wasn't known, or little known... I questioned it all. I was told further bible study wasn't really necessary because church was enough 🤯. Well I am at home alone lead only by Jesus and His word. I sometimes feel so alone...although an introvert, it would be nice to share my awesome experiences with someone 😥so I wait and pray. May the Lord rise up His Church. Yes I could be one to do this. God willing. Be blessed

    Hello everyone, I am a progressive Christian! First I would like to point out that progressives are not one group where everyone thinks the same (which thankfully is mentioned in this video). In my 25 years, mostly among other progressive Christians, listening to social media posts, being in progressive groups etc, I have NEVER heard anyone say they believe in panteism. Some of the other claims are also a bit in outerspace, but then again some ideas are more common among parts of progressives. In the end it comes down to ONE question - is the bible 100% inspired (= as it was written) by God or not. The conclusions each individual then make, is connected to that. If the bible is 100% true (not one letter wrong), then the "main" progressive view is false. If the bible is not 100% true, some words or letters are "false" or man made, then the "main" progressive view is true, and fundamentalism is false.

    I think of myself as a progressive Christian, and I am weary of the arguments I've been engaged throughout most of my life with religious people from all faiths who come up with their volatile certainties. This is fine for individuals , but it doesn't work for religious organizations , specially if they are keen on marketing themselves to unbelievers. Doubt doesn't sell, certainty does. This is why conservative religion along with their followers are gradually heading in the direction of the dinosaurs.

      Why should any church or group of believers be keen on ‘marketing themselves’ to unbelievers? This is the problem with the seeker friendly church system in the west, church is treated like a business with its marketing strategy trying to entice people. This is not how the gospel is preached.. The gospel is preached with power and not with persuasive words.
      I am sorry if you do not believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ you are not a Christian and aren’t worthy to even call yourself that. You are a heretic who needs to repent and return to what you knew first.

      Progressivism is in my view to dare ask hard questions, sometimes finding plausible answers, sometime not. It is not the "certainty", 100% true doctrines that someone claim. Those ideas are as you suggest from a time passed by. As the certainties are not based upon truth, I think they will witter away, slowly. Everything good to you, may Jesus bless you!

    Christus Victor is used by some as a means of attempting to skirt around the well-supported case for Substitutionary Atonement. William Lane Craig had a good discussion on Unbelievable about the atonement theories with a pastor who is closer to the progressive side. But it was Craig's view that seemed more inclusive, holistic and socially just. Some can and do use PSA to overcorrect in a harsh direction, but others can do the same in the other direction by trying to water down truth to appease misguided sentiments.

    Admittedly, I breathed a sigh of relief when I heard the lists. I thought there were going to be some very subtly sinister deviations from what I had been taught, or perspectives that spoke to some things I’d been grappling with in my life. The vast majority of the denials and endorsements contradict very fundamental truths to such a degree that I wouldn’t know how they could be considered “Christian”. It’s part of the reason I say that I’m a “believer” or “I love Jesus”-because the word “Christian” no longer merely contains the variety of faiths and perspectives within the realm of established truth, but now apparently includes beliefs that can’t even been creatively contorted to fit into a classic Christian label. I’m guessing the deception in the end times will be much more clever than this, ‘cause these things are overtly cringe-worthy...if not simply abhorrent.

    • @TheDbwillia

      Why did you breath a sigh of relief? She is not God. There has been so many ppl who have a large platform that change their mind (even @mikewinger who I really like) changed his opinion about drinking when he use to think it was a sin. We have to stop looking to ppl to validate what Christ already taught us. We have to look to the word and not to a person (who has personal reasons for standing or not standing on issues that are hot topics) to determine which paths we should go. It’s so frustrating for ppl to literally not do the work on themselves to be more like Christ because someone said this or that. This has got to stop. God bless you.

      @@TheDbwillia Thanks for the question! The sigh of relief was simply because the title made me wonder if some new diabolical counterfeit had cropped up that could cause even more fractures and divisions in the body. No fear involved of course; it’s just disheartening to hear lies that only slightly deviate from the truth but that cause significant divides and compromises. From where I’m standing, there’s nothing subtle or subversive on the list; their deviations from truth are very distinct. My relief had nothing to do with this channel, its views or its opinions. I’m not entirely sure how what I said initially could be interpreted as me looking to someone other than God for guidance or answers, but rest assured, that’s not the case. Truly sorry to hear that my comment caused you so much frustration. Cheers!

    This is good teaching. The narrator here does a good job. Progressive Christianity is a sign of apostasy and that we are living in the last days. People would fall away from sound doctrine..They will fall away from the truth. We are now seeing this play out in our society now..Any doctrine that denies the cross of Jesus Christ and his free gift of salvation is false. Good teaching here. Kudos to the narrator.

    I took a course recently on the Holy Spirit. There are a lot of new contextual pneumatologies. Some areas are process theology pushing into process pneumatology. This is what gives "creedence" to eco-pneumatology, feminine-pneumatology, panentheism and pantheism. Process and open theology is a root "enabler" to all of this progressive nonsense. Alisa, you should go after the root as well, what you are discussing are branches and manifestations of the philosophical foundations at play here.
    I want to bring some thing up here regarding "progressive". I heartily affirm Alisa here. The deity of Christ, the bodily resurrection of Christ, the Trinity, etc. However, some of these things are more multivalenced in historic Christian theology and are broader than we as Evangelicals will affirm. When you talk about what you do being more important than what you believe, this is where I think we need to be careful. Sola Fide is a Reformation tenant. It is very good in its intention. I would be careful in its implementation. The Gospel is more than individual conversion. And conversion is more than believing the right thing. I think there is a push in the church toward a critical theory justice gospel. But there is also a push to have a larger perspective of what the Kingdom of God is. These are two different movements with different objectives and different sources. But they get confused as being the same thing. The second move is very good! There is a correction happening where redemption is the realization that God is reconciling all things to himself in Christ. Paul is focused primarily with the individual as that is who he is talking to. But in the background he is always commenting on how all of life is being pulled into the new Creation of his Kingdom. Can you make a video talking about this distinction? I see a lot of good scholars who are fixing a platonic dichotomistic world view where God is interested in saving souls but couldn't care less about the economy, social structures, or other biblically normative issues. It is as if half of the concerns of OT prophets (idolatry and social justice- being the two halves) have been eliminated in the NT and now God really only cares about the interior of people's souls. So if Christians mourn with Amos or Joel, and call the church to repent in these areas, we are villified as social justice, woke. But it is clear that God would not consider repentance from idolatry to be real if it was not accompanied by biblical justice. So Evangelicals, to stay on the safe side, throw out all justice to not be associated with the "woke". But God cared about this way before BLM emerged.

    Jude wrote a warning about progressives worming their way into the early Church: "Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord." And it gets worse about progressives as the letter comes to and end.
