PLEASE READ This is not a traditional combo video in the sense that it's not full of flashy movement and unorthodox move choice. This combo video is meant to show practical combo extensions and effective DI mixups that I try to use in all my games. Some combos may seem like the opponent is using bad DI, but really they're just getting mixed up. If you pay close attention, you'll notice very similar situations repeat themselves, but whether I choose to read DI in or DI away is made ambiguous until the last moment. For example, you'll see a lot of people choose to DI away then lose their stock instantly to run>crouch>fsmash which might seem like a bad decision on their part. Remember that they've been conditioned to DI away by previous combos that were reading DI in. If you can train yourself to combo in a way that forces your opponent to make a decision with their DI that may lose their stock, then your punish game will improve drastically. Last note, every combo ends with the opponent's stock being taken and Falco always survives offstage combos (except when the opponent is on their last stock). The automated combo app trims off too much sometimes, so I just wanted to make that clear.
This is genuine genius play. I love how when you have no extra time between hits, you pick choices that give you more frames to work with. And then when you have the extra time, you use it to reposition yourself before continuing. Play like this just cannot exist without both of them. Most people think of combos as X into Y into Z but there's so much more to it than that.
@@joeydonuts4020 I have a request if you don't mind? Maybe another video showcasing how to chase Fox / Marth / Sheik, without losing for it. I think so much of like Falco vs Sheik for example is just chasing Sheik the entire game and getting screwed for it. All 3 of those MUs can have that same pattern in common. And really, thank you for making this one. Brilliant summary piece.
@@Nightwalker86 When you saying "chasing" do you mean just playing neutral in general? If you do some research, there are lots of videos on Falco vs those characters, I would definitely check out Ginger's videos for that content if I were you.
this is freaking incredible im just surprised i dont see more fair! but i gotta lock in on those dair-> dair combos and the laser uptilts during FD combos. great stuff and always a fun time playing the ditto w/ you on unranked/ranked :)
That combo on Sheik at 16:50 is on of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Amazing video. I'm gonna be practicing and adding quite a few things from this into my punish.
love the running rev bair continuations esp vs falcon/ganon, i feel like i never follow them up quite fast enough when i do them but just watching this is helping with situational awareness on when to rev bair and how to follow up properly (and also what di i should be looking for)...will be coming back to this video at least a few times LOL great stuff
this is awesome, really love the approach to think of this as something that is practical and can be studied/understood. I wish something like this existed for fox
@@joeydonuts4020 umm, actually, the dair aerial interrupt is worthwhile because it forces Falco to land within the first 3 frames of his down air animation, *during its auto cancel window*, so you don't deal with dair's landing lag. :p
Two questions: Is the double dair covering some specific option? I swear there was a video on it but I can't find it. EDIT: There's a KJH video showing double dair bread and butter combos but doesn't explain when to utilize it. What are you reacting to for these things? As a Gold Falco idk how good Falcos stay "glued" to their opponents during combos. My movement obviously bad, but it almost feels like Joey is prepositioned to follow-up. Finally, this video is fucking dope. Videos from Magi, Fallen, and Oh get me hyped to play, but air-tight fundamentals like this and PPMD get me hyped to practice. Thanks for putting the time in to make this.
I talk about it a bit in this reddit thread: www.reddit.com/r/SSBM/comments/1ggj73s/comment/luqjuqu/? What I'm reacting to depends a lot on the situation, so it's tough for me to give a blanket answer for that. If you're struggling to stay "glued" to your opponents during combos, my advice is to practice your movement more and lab specific situations within combos. Generally speaking, breaking down large complex and difficult things into smaller pieces makes them easier to understand and learn. Glad you liked it! I definitely love the combo videos from those players, but I rarely see combo videos like this that maybe don't have as much flair, but are easier to pick up and apply in tournament matches.
bro as a fellow gold falco, its crazy to notice that HE ONLY USES SHINE BAIR DAIR AND UPTILT. Like literally any other move is so mf rare but its so cool to see because its showing how simple it can really be with proper technique, almost like cooking a dish but made by a master chef and you lmao
@@joeydonuts4020 so true! his lazers that let him close in, his fast shines into his Dair which should be meteor cancelable, Bair, down tilt, dash attack, up tilt, nair, are just too hard to hit
