Awesome video! There is something special about the first Super Mario Bros. It is just a solid game all around. Also I gave you a shout-out on my channel I hope it gets you some more traffic. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so very much! Giving me a full shout-out on your channel is the kindest thing. I really appreciate you taking the time 😁 I'm returning the favor shortly!
The grand-daddy of classics! The OG of OG’s! This was the first game I ever played on a console- I remember watching my older brother play before I could fathom how to use the controller to make Mario move. Long live the turtle stomping, mushroom eating, mustachioed plumber!!
A perfect game. In the 90s I had a Gameboy Color and Mario Deluxe version which gave me many hours of gameplay. Good to know about Game and Watch, may have to pick one up.
SMB1 is a classic, through and through. I feel as though its physics engine and general controls have aged. It's a little rough around the edges, but still remarkably playable, regardless of the version you play. I got as far as the final world without using warps, but I died and didn't have any desire to play the game again. It's fun, but I think later entries have more to offer. I have an in-box SMB1 cart, though it's missing the manual and the box is starting to fall apart. I grew up playing the All Stars version more anyway, though my favorite in the series to this day is SM64.
It for sure feels a bit old, but for how old it is it's crazy how well it still plays. That's so sick you have an in-box cartridge! What a collector's piece! All- Stars is so cool - I love that they redid the sprites for them.
I think the game would have benefitted a lot if they made it just five worlds instead of the eight, it's just so monotonous when it's so simple yet so long. But the physics, enemies and level design is great
Yeah that's totally fair! A little shorter might do it well. It's nice that they had the foresight to do warp zones so you can kind of tailor the experience. I'm really surprised with how well they nailed the physics on their first try. It's definitely improved over the years, but it's still so good.
I love when people ask 😁 I got to meet Weird Al at a concert a few years ago and got a picture with him and that poster signed. It was such a fantastic experience.
@@retroreviews_ I didn’t recognize the image and thought that I might have missed some thing after he stopped releasing physical CDs. I went to his bad hair Day tour, and his live shows are absolutely amazing. I was living in Atlanta while he was doing his Alpocalypse tour but unfortunately I missed out on that one.

The original super mario bros is such a great game ^_^ although super mario 3 is probably my favorite.
Excellent pick! That's my brother's favorite as well. I need to replay that one soon.

Holy crap, that's so awesome! What a first game to experience. Mario is definitely the best 😁
Really nice video, true, passionate
Best morning experience, thank you!
Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it 😁

Oh man, Deluxe was so choice. Being able to play it on the go for the first time was so sick.

Sorry but… what is that Weird Al poster in the background?

@@popixel I genuinely think he's one of the best live performers ever. I really hope he releases a new album at some point 🤞
