  • Geneticist Steve Jones on why DNA is a language, how biology was invented as a science and why Charles Darwin had to write the Origins of Species in a hurry
"We can rephrase Darwin's three words today: evolution is genetics plus time. If you've got genetics (DNA, genes) and you've got time (and we know that we have thousands of millions of years since the origin of life) and if you've got mistakes, mutations - and they happen all the time - then evolution is bound to happen."
Steve Jones, Emeritus Professor of Human Genetics, University College London

"The burden of proof," or "onus probandi" in Latin, means the obligation to provide evidence to support a claim. In debates, discussions, or legal contexts, it's commonly understood that the burden of proof lies with the person making the assertion rather than with the one challenging it. This principle is fundamental in critical thinking, logic, and reasoning, emphasizing the importance of evidence and rational argumentation in supporting claims and conclusions. Steve Jones makes some critical assertions, without proof. The listener is expected to believe that complex organ such as an eye could evolve through natural selection. But no proof or evidence is provided. The listener is expected to accept this claim on face value. This is called 'belief', not 'science'. One need not be religious to be skeptical of evolutionists' explanations. Indeed, many atheistic scientists are. Hand waiving presented as science is not too different from religious hand waving. Fantastic story telling.

He is not talking about Evolution but adaptation.

Besides, I've read (I owe the reference) that Darwin's great grandfather, Erasmus Darwin (poet, philosopher, botanist, and naturalist and I guess, comedian) proposed as a joke that men descended from monkeys, perhaps little Darwin might have gotten the IDEA from him LOL.

God created the Universe based on IDEAS, "genes" are MATERIAL embodiments of these IDEAS AS SEEN and interpreted by our BRAINS in the context of time and space.
The role of the brain is to think (classify) and the role of the stomach is to digest... Schopenhauer.

Thus, SPECIES APPEAR (we don't have a slight clue HOW so far..., including Darwin et al LOL) COMPLETE.
When the ENVIRONMENT is "right", POP !
It happens here on Earth and in other solar systems as well...
Allegorically we can think of SPECIES as classes in terms of C#, blueprints READY MADE by God, the environment INSTANTIATE them.
They are not "faulty" nor "incomplete" nor "they haven't reached its full potential" nor "EVOLUTION" is PROGRESS...
The paramecium is not a "perfected" ameba nor men are a "slight improvement" (or setback) of the paramecium, LOL
      RIDICULOUS !
The ameba, paramecium and man are complete and FINAL, full stop.

I've read Mr Jones book "In the Blood" and I found it very interesting and I would recommend people to read it BUT I cannot agree with his endorsement of "Evolution".
First of all, we don't have to fall in the FALSE dichotomy of Dar wing versus the Old Testament, the Old Testament is an allegory and a "social recipes" book (see Esra, for example...), while Darwin (at least his intention) is to do Science, but unfortunately he fails miserably.
Quoting from Prof. Jones book "In The Blood": "The idea that species - including our own - are not fixed but can change from one into another...".
Well, we haven't seen that in the LAB LOL, thus IT HASN'T BEEN PROVEN, thus... So far, NOT TRUE.
Now, the example about the cows does not makes any sense because we haven't seen that artificial selection GENERATED a DIFFERENT SPECIES, "NEW COWS" are the very same SPECIES giving more milk or flesh.
The problem with the mechanism of "natural selection" is the fact that if we consider HOW OFTEN MUTATIONS HAPPEN, and from them we have to count ONLY the ones to admit survival AND REPRODUCTION (unlike mules) and the AGE of Earth, simply THERE is NO TIME to "develop" all the species we have now on Earth.
In regard to TIME. I've read (I am not sure if this is correct because I am not a biologist, I am a systems analyst) that whales and giraffes are closely related (bone structure) but I haven't seen all the necessarily INTERMEDIATE SUCCESSFUL species in between, especially the amphibious ones LOL, nor fossils of them...
Now, science is a METHOD, it is no MAGIK; it consists on proposing TESTABLE HYPOTHESIS (Karl Popper, epistemology) BUT ALAS, Darwin's tale has NOT been TESTED so far, the fact that "it is not possible to test it" does not prove it RIGHT either, it only shows that this it is NOT SERIOUS SCIENCE...
The TRUTH is that we haven't seen even one single change from one SPECIES to another SPECIES neither in a lab so far nor in the wild, thus, Darwin is in the better case scenario a bad (in my view) book of Science Fiction.
I've read Darwin and the slavist ants chapter (good excuse to excuse English & Co. chattel slavery of African people as "natural"...) but I prefer much more to read Jules Verne...

Look at all the "religious" EXpErTs😂
Can you guys please just disprove Evolution Theory and please provide EVIDENCE of a force outside the materialistic world.
    Thanks.

Can you even provide evidence for a “materialistic world” beyond subjective experience? You are also a believer:) 😂😂😂😂

Believe isn't necessary...common sense and education make religious creationism comedy....I won't argue a TH-cam creationist because they have no clue - not one of them has read one book concerning Evolution, has done any profound field work or can give me a answer to why so many women and babies die because of small birth canals forcing humans to invent a procedure called C Section. They have zero EVIDENCE for ANYTHING outside of the material world and in terms of Science they have NOTHING that could replace Evolution Theory...or can I make scientific predictions using the Quran or Bible?🙄

Yeah...Virgibs, jinns and a moon splitting flying horse riding pedophile prophet...the Qur'an is just a man made Religion.
Evolution is a FACT. You can remain a child believing in a Lie - or grow up and be an adult.
The fact of matter here is...and I would bet my life on it....you have never read any books concerning Evolution ( for example Darwin's Ghost by Steve Jones ) and like all the other 4000 Religions = You got nothing.
I actually feel sad for you guys...you die never realizing the phenomenal beauty of Evolution and how much it has helped humanity understand nature, medicine, genetics, homology etc...
Why did Allah built all lifeforms using DNA?
Why did Allah create Cancer and Immune deficiency diseases?
Why the small birth canal in many women forcing us to perform dangerous c sections?
So humans can turn a Wolf into hundreds of Dogs....but nature can't evolve beetles or snakes via natural selection, sexual selection, mutations etc?
Why do biological lifeforms have to eat other lifeforms and then poop? This is the best Allah could come up with? 🙄😂 suuurrreeees

“Evolutionists” is not a thing. Stop trying to make it a thing. They are professors, rational people and usually (drum roll)....SCIENTISTS.
