Enjoyed the video! Cabbage, sweet potatoes 🍠
Onions 🧅 carrots, russet potatoes, green bell peppers, lettuce & tomato 🍅 always buy every month. I buy super sweet corn for the year 🌽 in early June and cut it off the cob, add diced onions, green bell peppers and tomatoes 🍅 cook it down, freeze and it’s ready to eat after 10 minutes of cooking.
We eat a lot of coleslaw year round very simple, Mayo lots of black pepper that’s it! Candied yams are simple cooked too, just water sugar and butter.
My food cooking does not require a lot
    of ingredients
We eat more rice than potatoes here in the south.
Chicken and gravy over rice is simple, sometimes I even add diced potatoes 🥔
And cut carrots, that’s whole meal in one pot except rice.
I buy beef roast $3.99 lb. and cut it myself for beef tips, soup meat, beef stew meat & etc.
pork Boston butt, I buy on sale $0.98 lb. and cut pork chops out of it, till I get close to the bone, then I make bbq pulled pork in the crockpot.
My meal ideas are endless but… SIMPLE
    And from scratch.
Popcorn 🍿 the old fashion way is our snack. Deserts are so easy with boxes of cake mix and a canned fruit, even make cookies with cake mix

I am a family of one. Like you, I do not write out a meal plan. I use up the meat or vegetables that are the oldest . Sometimes that means that I am batch cooking. the crockpot, instant pot and electric fry pan are my go to because I can cook anything that I want to eat in them and have leftovers that I freeze for future meals. Enjoyed the video.

Thanks for this video Lynn, 😊 great timing as I was going through my cupboards yesterday to see what I needed for Autumn and Winter. The freezer is next so I will keep all your great suggestions in my head as I make my list. I always cut up my leftover celery and then freeze it loose before putting it in a bag so I can grab a handful when I need it in a recipe. I’ve never tried dehydrating. Blessings from the U.K. 💕xx

Well, hello to the UK and I hope you’re doing well. The older I get the simpler I get I guess with not having young kids in the home, I don’t need to be as creative with meals. And getting back to the basics with simpler meals has been an enjoyment.

Hi Lynn ! Haven't been on for awhile. Great ideas from you ! My spices are in a cabinet slightly over my head. I've been saying for years I need to find a lower spot. Then I tell my self reaching is good exercise. No. That will be a Fall project. I'm sure I have too many, also. I am retired and find I don't need cookbooks anymore. I can just slap together a pretty good meal. Proud of that. Soups are my best. Enjoy your week !!

I totally agree about cookbooks… I have a fetish for them and I just love rummaging through them. I think what I need to start doing is just going to the library and borrowing them and then returning them. This way I can have the best of both walls… Lol.

I bought a Costco chicken. Had several meals off of it, cooking the rest up into soup with carrots, celery, onions - all from the farmers market, and spaghetti (halved). 2) I invested in a veggie chopper and will dice most of the onions and store in freezer bags, 3) I buy big beef chuck packages and divide into 4 portions then vacuum seal and freeze. 4) my local Stop and Shop offers ground turkey on sale for $3/package. I divide them in half, vacuum seal and freeze. Makes a hearty meat sauce for spaghetti with mushrooms, green peppers and onions. Sometimes I add vegan Italian sausage for extra flavor. I just purchase the staples that I know that I will eat. I don’t menu plan. I'm a creature of habit and don't much experiment 😂

I have heard of pumpkin chili for some reason. I just have never made it. It just doesn’t give me good thoughts… Lol but I probably should try it.

We eat very simple, and sadly we haven’t lost any weight.

I totally understand. We are the same way. I told my husband now that the weather will start getting cooler in our area hopefully in the next couple of weeks we need to start making it a nightly ritual to go for a walk and get more exercise.

Hi Lynn. Good advice! Meals don't need to be fancy, to be tasty. Wise to start prepping now for the winter, as you never know when bad weather could impa t your ability to get to the grocery store. Linda K. from Dundalk, Md.

OMG! Was doing the same thing this evening! Getting myself organized through the holidays. Wrap your celery up in foil completely and keep in the crisper drawer. It will last a long, long time.

I love making a roast it's so versatile and the last time I cooked it I made a semi homemade pot pie with it 😋
