Not sure if this helps but from the perspective of cognitive psychology, creativity can be conceptualized as the processes involved in problem solving (even if the problem is something vague such as “produce something beautiful”) and is broken up into two overlapping types: divergent thinking and convergent thinking. Divergent thinking is essentially idea generation/brainstorming, i.e., generating and exploring a wide range of possible ways to tackle a problem. Convergent thinking is the refinement and evaluation of the most promising ideas, i.e., honing in on the best possible solution(s) to the problem. A classic test of divergent thinking would be to ask someone how many different ways a brick can be used, and giving them a score based on the number of answers they produce in a set amount of time plus bonus points for ones other people didn’t give, called Guilford’s alternate uses task. A classic test of convergent thinking is to give someone a series of three seemingly unrelated words and asking them to produce a word that connects them (e.g., “snow, bearing, basket”), called the remote associations task. Convergent thinking is also strongly related to conceptions of fluid intelligence (i.e., reasoning ability) which is one half of the modern psychological definition of intelligence (the other is crystalized intelligence, which is one’s existing knowledge), and many tests of fluid or general intelligence will include convergent thinking questions. Conversely, intelligence tests will not typically have divergent thinking questions as that dimension is usually considered a unique aspect of creativity.
i would 100% absolutely agree that "creative" could be used as an insult. but creativity and artistry on its own does not have to please anyone, it doesnt even have to please the artist. it's kind of like that really unusual and counterintuitive "third" type of fun, that isnt fun in the moment or in hindsight :D
Seeing these slightly lower skill level games is what i needed to see in order to feel like i can actually play this game lol i'll have to give it a shot again ❤😂
I wanted to rant about creativity by stating: wikipedia says!!! but actually it says that creativity is creating something new and useful. but maybe a strategy, that doesn't work, can still be useful. Like when you see a bronze player doing something you never thought of and the bronze player could not make it work, but you can expand that idea and make it work, wouldn't the strategy of the bronze player be useful? because u would never have come to the refined version of it.
I would agree creativity has to work / be beautiful to some extent or in some way, because the word universally has positive connotations and that's what it gives it merit. Otherwise it has the same meaning as weird or unusual.
I agree that creative has to at least sorta work. It doesn't have to be 100% there, but it has to have the seed of something worth exploring in more depth for it to be creative to me. That's the case with both art and build orders, and I think it's why some can find build orders beautiful.
the amount of time it took to get the two zeps and everything in them, flameseal could just right click map and be at his base or expansion. The end of that game was great lol.
I would say that for something to be creative, it should have some rationale for why it should work, preferably with some way to adjust it if it doesn't work at first.

It was a webbed zeppelin, iirc you cant unload from a webbed zep, or at least if the webbed zep dies the units that were in it will die instantly instead of auto-unloading
I don't think creativity has to do with success. In the more artistic fields - there literally is no such thing as success. popularity doesn't necessarily mean that it is better art, or that it won't be appreciated in a different time/culture. In more competitive fields like business or gaming - creativity is only useful when it is paired with enough intelligence and field knowledge (and probably some other factors) to yield success, often where others with less creativity were unable to find a way.
I would say "competitive gaming" as gaming usually meant fun and creative way to have fun doesn't need to be the most efficient, can even be extremally inefficient, as long as it's fun.
@@anonimowelwiatko9811 I guess , but that is a very different attitude towards gaming than what grubby was talking about.
