    This wasn’t the US’s finest showing, but shout out to Sam Long for giving us one of the most competitive matches of the day (and obliterating Laidlow which, let’s be real, the whole world was happy to see)

      Massive understatement !
      Time to take a leaf out if the Ryder Cup and change the teams
      Split out GB from Europe, join Canada, US as North America
      Europe will be less strong, North America stronger than US should make for a more competitive competition

    Such an action packed format, and even better coverage than last year. Can't wait for next year's! 🔥PTO is doing amazing things for the sport. I would have loved to see the fantasy picks like last year. Would love to see PTO keep exploring cool options like that one to engage with fans digitally

    Great event. But as a fan of the sport I was disappointed by the coverage. Can you please show more statistics on screen. Distance to go, between, splits, speed and pace. Also give updates on all the races happeningand not just the finishline. I didn't even see the race between blummenfelt and wilde until it was over. Gustav? People who did not win do not need to be shown at the finish. Maybe save interviews of finishes until everyone has finished

    • @rachelb5530
      @rachelb5530 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree the coverage could be improved. The amount of time dedicated to the stupid “beef” between the Sams (and therefore how much that race was shown) meant that other races which were closer between the three athletes or had higher profile athletes were barely shown.

    Love this event. The beef with Sam and Sam was a little cringe, but I think they settled that pretty well on the race course. Wish things weren't so one sided, though. EU dominated start to finish and that was without Jan or Lucy there.
    I saw a comment on Reddit where someone suggested realigning the teams so that they were "EU," "Commonwealth," and "International." The more I thought about it the more reasonable it seemed to me in principle. I think a matchup between mainland Europe, the "Commonwealth" countries, and "The Americas" would be a much tighter fight. I also think, Europe, Commonwealth, and Americas makes for better team identities than 'team international,' which honestly feels like a throwaway catchall.
    The only difficulty would be in either having Canada in Commonwealth rather than on the 'Americas' in terms of identity and branding, or else taking Canada out of the Commonwealth team. (In the longer term you'd have to think about incorporating top athletes from outside EU, Commonwealth, or Americas, but as things stand, any such athletes are just going to make it even more one-sided against the US). Either way, I think we'd get more of a real competition than what we're seeing now. Europe (including the UK) just has a much better combination of population size and developed triathlon scene than the countries that make up the other two teams and there isn't much likelihood of that changing in the foreseeable future.
    Love the event, but its going to get old watching Europe take the title uncontested year after year.

    • @SwimDudeSwim
      @SwimDudeSwim 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is a great idea! As an American, we can admit that the field is a little stacked against us with the current team distribution. To be honest, I think Team US and Team International could merge entirely and the field would still be extremely competitive against the Europeans.

    Pretty average coverage to be honest. I think we got footage of the Wilde Blumenfelt race about 3 times totalling about a minute. There has to be a better way to do it because there's just too much going on for it to be an engaging watch at all. The most you really see is the start. If it was the same next yeah I probably wouldn't watch it again.

    If so, it would be great to move it to good honest places. Not London in the UK for instance. Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Bath, etc.

    FYI: Here in Norway Eurosport abruptly decided cut the broadcast to...Rally!!! I wasted hours watching the 3/4 of this race. What's more the totally clueless commentator couldn't even tell the difference between our own Blummenfelt and the American - with the stars and striped helmet(!) That's how much Warner Bros. Discovery Norway gives a f#ck about the PTO Collins Cup. You should get your money back.

She significantly lacked it herself and Slow Long for not being able to out sprint Old Man Sanders. No heart whatsoever! Slow Long might as well not even show up to PTO Dallas! Until he acquires some RESPECT towards all his competitors. He ain't showing any respect when he titles a recent video towards his competition: "I'm Back Motherfuckers!"
