      mate i've seen usman fans trying to use edwards' lacklustre performance from round 2 as evidence that usman is better, when if anything the opposite is true. like leon says in this interview, he beat the pound for pound champ on an off-day (while also taking him down for the first time *and* knocking him out for the first time). this isn't even his final form

    • @objective_evaluation
      @objective_evaluation ปีที่แล้ว +49

      I’m not an Usman fan. The head kick was absolutely incredible and took a lot of skill. That said, Usman completely handled Edwards. First round he won, but 2-5 was all Usman and it wasn’t even close. Both have something to prove in the rematch…Leon took the belt with a decisive knockout but his performance was weak for me to say he is the better fighter.

    • @noahziegler3478
      @noahziegler3478 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Without the kick Usman wins 3-2 rounds. It was a lot closer than it looked because of the easy takedowns in 2,3 and 4. The commentary made it look lopsided as well. Usman will lay on him next time for a 5 round snoozer imo.

    • @objective_evaluation
      @objective_evaluation ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@noahziegler3478 I don’t think it was close. All judges had Usman up 3-1 going into the 5th. Edwards body language in the corner affirmed what we all saw. But hey, it’s a 25min fight so you have to finish…but a really weak performance overall from Edwards.

      if theres a rematch though, i bet usman can just play it safe and wrestle only instead of standing with him. he did good standing btw but he was much better grappling naturally and he can make it a boring fight if they do a 3rd fight just to take belt and idk how leon would deal with that. Props to him though i thought he was gonna lose, pulled it around real nice there.

He just gets too carried away striking imo, his jab is so good dont get me wrong and he was winning on scorecards but its a risk against Leon to strike with him when his kicks are so deadly (not just head kicks, Leon’s any area kicks are just so precise even if not ko it’ll slow usman down).
      I think rematch will be more grappling if it goes decision (Usman win) or early round KO/TKO from either one due to a mistake from the other like bad footing or lowering hands from feint.

      I'm from Leon's home city but lets be honest the dude has the charisma of a wooden table. Even his voice doesn't help. I know these things shouldn't matter but this gamesis as much entertainment as fighting. Usman is similar its a fact that if u don't have charisma u have to work harder to achieve your goals. Its only recently that Usman getting respect and pound for pound talk. His early fights were boring as fuck . Actually it was the Colby fights which really helped partly because of Colby making shit entertaining. I'm not saying Leon should change cos that would be fake but awkward personality means your fighting has to do the talking and even his style can make boring fights . Look at the stupid comments saying he was lucky. He just needs to win fights. A win when they rematch would really shut people up. Adesanya gets away with boring wins mainly because he's good on the mic so Leon needs to keep winning people will come round like they did for usman

    One minute left on the clock, the steps were heavy and hands loose, the whole crowd was silent and announcers called his early defeat. It was there, the whole fight. He was feeling the pressure but it's not the same guy usman was facing before, leon wanted it more. Leon felt it more.
    The guys raised by gangsters, born on the great land Jamaica had the whole UK on his back. Bermingham was cheering slowly with their hands clasped and hearts praying. One moment for eternal glory, mom's love travelled in his veins and the rage of redemption drove him sane. He counted the shots, moved right to throw the left. Boom!
    Headshot and the king was laying dead, there's a new king to hold the mantle and leon showed why was the Rocky afterall.
    He faced the creed to win it all.
    P4P Who he said and shook the world, showed will against the adversity and everyone was looking at him now.
    The new welterweight king is here, leon the fooking rocky Edwards showed the world.
    Millions will be inspired and the sport keeps on teaching us all, "anything can happen to anyone"

    The happiest I’ve ever been watching MMA, Usman was getting annoying and all the UFC was calling him the greatest WW when GSP had like 12 title defences compared to Usmans 5 was straight up crazy. Leon deserved it and him getting emotional and calling him mum was sweet as hell, looking forward to the rematch.

    1. Leon got rocked by Nate in the 5th round, and KO'D Usman in the 5th to win
    2. Usman was about to break Anderson Silva's Record, but Leon beats Usman in the 5th like Anderson Sliva vs Chael 1 in the 5th
    3. Luke Rockhold was on the card (UFC 199)...

    Just goes to show to never take anything for granted, Usman has been such an unstoppable force, I don't care if you don't like him for whatever reason, as a fighter he was and still is an absolute beast. It's new territory for him and I think he's going to need some time to reflect and not only focus entirely on securing a rematch either way. At the same time, their next fight should be against eachoter, if anyone deserves a chance of redemption, it's him, so before Leon is dethroned, Usman deserve that trilogy fight more than anyone else, not taking anything away from Leon, brutal kick that would take the head off clean on most people, madness.

      I don’t really understand the hate towards Usman, but at the same time I don’t personally enjoy his style. Laying on and grinding against Leon, without really inflicting any damage, for 3.5 rounds made it all the more enjoyable to watch Leon land that perfect headshot 💥

      Personally he was one of my favourite until the 1st Colby fight after that his head got big..
      He became arrogant, started talking like he was the best, jumping up 2 divisions for light heavyweight title and asking people would they rate him the best ever if he does that.. it gives a feeling this guy need to be humbled
