    This figure really is the definition of they don’t make them like they used to. I forgot this had a mini elevator. Just awesome

      Looking at the titan's return fort max yeah I would rather have the g1 figure cause he looks so cool and not like a repaint of metroplex as in its alt modes look like another metroplex

    Of all the Transformers I was fortunate enough to open, I can CLEARLY recall unpacking Fort Max! The box art was so amazing! He had that new toy smell coming out of the styrofoam. The sticker sheet was HUGE and metallic. I totally pinched my finger in those hips but it was so worth it!

    The first and still largest Titan of the Transformers. There is no Autobot who stands taller than Fortress Maximus. :D Congrats on five years of TH-cam Patriot Prime! Keep on being amazing.

    Back in 1993 when I was only 10 years old, transforming this thing was no easy feat. I had my fingers clipped by its joints many times. I remember my cousin baby sitting us kids at the time and she was 3 months pregnant, she used to complain about fortress maximus being too heavy to carry upstairs on her own.
    Despite the fact that this was THE transformer toy to get, its playability wasn't all that great due to its size and weight. I remember taking Cerebros everywhere with me but hardly played with the fortress itself.

      This figure is a BEAST, I couldn't imagine a little kid playing and transforming this guy.

    Its pretty wild that G1 Fort Max has a LOT more going on in city and vehicle mode than modern Titans Fort Max. And, I absolutely love the modern Fort Max as a figure and base/vehicle. But, all those compartments for the smaller bots on the G1 iteration is just engineered better. Guess you gotta have both!
    Also, happy TH-cam-aversary!

    Man oh man does this figure look amazing.
    I wish I pulled the trigger on the Encore back in 2013 because now due to the "Late Tax" he's around $500.00.
    Congrats on 5 years, keep the awesome content Rolling Out.

    How are these videos NOT suitable for people under 13.....? I was 6 years old when I got my first Transformer in 1984....?
    Absolutely amazing review of my first "Titan Class" as they call it now Transformer.

    Happy 5th anniversary, congratulations!
    Thank you for sharing this awesome review, I've never had the chance to see this toy in person, so this was a real treat. Love all the modes, and how tight were those joints? My god I've never seen anyone having to apply that much pressure on a toy, highly entertaining! And to see the original Cog was cool, I never saw it before. This was a very interesting review, and I'm glad you decided to do this on this special day. Thanks for sharing, and keep going!

    One of the most impressive, iconic and greatest Transformers ever!
    The city mode is simply phenomenal and easily one of the best in G1, the battle station mode is pretty cool, the robot mode is phenomenal as well and once you flip out the cannons and flip up the guns he has guns blazing everywhere.

    WOW! I had NO idea he was THAT big! What a monster!! Kind of makes Metroplex look like a kid I guess... Seems like back in Jr High other TF fans told me that I should get this guy but, as I remember it was very expensive even for back then and I knew my parents wouldn't be able to afford it plus, I already had already gotten Metroplex for Christmas. I LOVED that thing and played with it a lot! For me Fortress Maximas was just a fantasy. Cool video. What a MASSIVE toy!

    This figure was never sold in the UK. I do remember a now long closed toy shop having him as part of a competition displayed in the window and often my Dad would take me into town just to stand in awe of this figure and have a young boy dream of winning him. Sadly I had to wait to over 20 years and into the late 2000's to get hold of a Car Robots version of this figure imported from BigBadToystore.

    A Very Happy 5th PPR / Patriot Prime Reviews! EPIC massive Fortress Maximus sized congratulations! Super proud of you we all are! And tremendously honoured to be subbed to and be a part of your titanic Transformers TH-cam channel celebrations! I'm so sorry to only comment so many hours after watching and Liking your absolutely amazing Fortress Maximus video many hours watching it! Time difference plus just wanted to get enough rest so my head is clear enough to type up words to sum up how much seriously impressed by and appreciative of your video I am (plus had things to do for several hours after waking up)! I'll break down my comments section by section of this video, thanks a lot for providing that!
    * * * * *
    What an introduction! Toyhax promotion was ace! Can't believe it's been exactly 5 years since you uploaded your very first video on October 4th! Apologies to digress but you'll get a kick out of all this, it definitely relates to that said date! Albeit due to the time zone difference, in Australia where I live, October 4th ended less than 13 hours ago while it's till October 4th in the US but nevertheless, a few incredible coincidences I will mention. Two other special occasions took place on October 4th 2022 (albeit it was in Australia which is 15 hours ahead of the US)...my sister Corinne's birthday AND my friend Daniel 100 Subscriber Twitch livestream! On that day I changed my Facebook cover to that of Street Fighter character Guile (Corinne's favourite) who is a military veteran like you! And I was born on Halloween, your favourite yearly special occasion I remember because you are as big a horror fan as you are a Transformers fan, especially the Friday The 13th because the antagonistic is your namesake! Ha ha so sorry I do like looking for coincidences, I have digressed long enough, back to my comments about your video!

    Oh no THANK YOU so much for absolutely everything you do for us, including most recently putting together this super awesome 40 minute video about Fortress Maximus, the absolutely tiranic leveks of time and effort you put into it shows, many thanks and seriouslygrateful! I'm so sorry for how unbelievably slack I have been keeping up with your channel (I feel so bad, life gets busy for me but I feel I have no excuse) and for only Subscribing to it months ago thos year. Hopefully I make up for all that at least a little bit by typing up all these comments on your video! OH SNAP I almost forgot that indeed the original Fortress Maximus toy was reissued under Takara's Transformers Encore toyline. Very well done snapping it up back then. Your Encore Fortress Maximus toy is the PERFECT choice of Transformer toy to review for your 5th Anniversary video! Seriously impressed with your knowledge of Fortress Maximus in the respective lores of the American G1 cartoon, Headmasters anime and Marvel comics, as am I! It's so cool you got into Transformers because of issue #3 of the 80s Transformers Marvel comics. Yessss indeed Galen did look like a black hair Prince Adam AKA He-Man! Ah yes, Galvatron defeated by Fortress Maximus and becoming frozen as a result in the Marvel comics - so sorry for a SPOILER - just like how he ended up being frozen in the Headmasters anime after Chromosome, Brainstorm, Highbrow and Hardhead defeated him!
    * * * * *
    You did a top notch bang up job showing, filming, explaining and transforming every detail and component of Fortress Maximus starting with Gasket and Grommet...they are neat little vehicle and I do love how cleverly they form the robot named Cog and how Spike sit on Grommet! You're right about the maxed out pop up tech readout stats on Cerebros's chest - upon plugging in a transformed Spike - corresponding to Fortress Maximus rather than Cerebros himself, I can imagine how hard it would be to integrate a pop up tech readout stats mechanism into the chest of the city bot's body!
    * * * * *
    It is interesting Cerebros's toy robot mode (including Spike transformed into his head and plugged in) look very different to his animation model in The Rebirth. Ha ha SCREWY but in the literary sense, good one! I felt the transformation of Cerebros into Fortress Maximus's head was quite clever too! That's amazing how Cerebros is essentially a triple changer, able to become robot, head and communication centre which looks convincing and ha ha it does look like an AT-AT indeed a shame it can't really stand otherwise Cerebros could have had a fourth mode for Spike to interact with!
    * * * * *
    My goodness, you perfectly showcased the sheer level of detail and interactive play value Fortress Maximus's city mode has! I'm so sorry I never owned him or any of the modern day Titan Class Transformer toys but I am familiar enough with all of them to know the original Fortress Maximus toy (both the 2013 Encore reissue and original 1987 releases of it) is, bar none, the BEST city bot toy EVER. Manually operated ramp launchers, all these places to house Micromasters ans Minibota, a jail cell and a crank operated elevator? Certainly something we don't get on any of the modern city bot toys, as great as they are! Unfortunately as heavily retooled the 2012 Thrilling 30 Metroplex Fortress was to turn him to the 2016 Titans Return Fortress Maximus, in can never compare to the original Fortress Maximus toy pr your Encore reissue of it because it lacks things like the tower structures, elevator crank and jail cell of the it.
    * * * * *
    You are one super strong dude to be able to pick up and transform Fortress Maximus into his spaceship and robot modes! So sorry been meaning to mention that it was so awesome to see that photo of you from 2013 lifting up your newly acquired boxed 2013 Encore Fortress Maximus! I agree ship needs more playability, especially compared to city mode, a pretty convincing spaceship to me even of its essential him in robot mode lying down and partially transformed! Oh wow didn't know his spaceship mode was a watercraft (one millionth the size pf what he is in the cartoon) in the comics that Powermaster Optimus Prime stood on. The robot mode of Fortress Maximus reflects the tremendously huge and impossing size his name infers. That's a good amount of arm poseability and so sorry about your nephews leaving a few of your small Transformers in Fortress Maximus's jail cell and not tell you resulting in you thinking you lost them, so glad they are found, coolest and nicest uncle you are ever to let them play with it! A really neat story though!
    * * * * *
    Thank you so much for going above and beyond to review Fortress Maximus and showcase every detail and part of it as well as showcase how super fun and super awesome a Transformer toy it is! I most definitely would buy one on the secondary market as a playset and display piece for my modern day Transformers toys from CW, TR, POTP, Siege, Earthrise, Kingdom and Legacy (I do plan to buy those). And you really are, in every way, our absolute HERO AMONGST HEROES and LEGEND AMONGST LEGENDS! 2003 to 2005 Operation Free Iraqi Freedom American war hero and ARMY combat vet, super awesome dad and uncle and the most super awesome and passionate and knowledgeable Transformer fan and TH-camr around! Many thanks and seriously grateful from us all for all that! You totally SHATTER THE GLASS (ha ha see what I did there) when it comes to negative stereotypes about people with geek related hobbies including Transformer toy collecting, sticking it to those naysayers who are stuck in the dark ages when it comes to what adults can and cannot enjoy. Thanks a lot again and a Very Happy 5th Anniversary man (and many thanks and seriously grateful again for to you for this video and to you and your buddies for your Saturday livestream) 💖🥲🇺🇸🤖🚛💪🪖🦸🏿‍♂️💥🛡🌟🎉🎈🎊🧨🎇🎆🍾🥂😁🥳

    Happy Anniversary, and great review!
    I’ve almost forgotten about that encore edition, it’s been in the basement unopened for years now.
    I think it’s because I already have the Car Robots re-issue from the early 2000’s. It didn’t come with all the 1987 accessories so I ended up buying resin casts of the drones, rifle and dual barrel gun. These things just take up so much space, but it’s cool to have

  • @swoopdown27
    @swoopdown27 ปีที่แล้ว

    Amazing review for Fortress Maximus. At that time, he was the most expensive Transformers toy ever made and bought. Looking at the size of Scorponok next to him is kinda like David and Goliath except in this case David is Scorponok and Goliath is Fortress Maximus and he is a good guy. Which they made Scorponok and his Headmaster partner Zarak G1 toy the same size as Fortress Maximus and Cerebros when they were released back in 1987. But still Fortress Maximus looks great. In the Headmaster Series, Cerebros toy face looks just like one in the series compared to the other one in Rebirth. Also, the Master Sword he held was only seen in the Headmaster Series and included with the toy when it was released in Japan.

      I've looked at them multiple times and they look amazing.
      But most of the decals are for city mode and I display mine in bot mode.
      I wouldn't see most of the decals.

    Starting with g1 Fortress Maximus and going backwards in time, can you list previous record holders for largest/tallest transformers toys?

    i never realized that cog was gasket and grommet combined from this set. huh. learn something new everyday.
    also, if you want to get rid of those stress marks, you can use a heatgun on a low heat setting (~200-250 degrees F) to work them out. just be careful not to go higher than 300 degrees F or you could melt the plastic. just used this to get rid of some stress marks on g1 galvatron - worked like a charm.

      I don't have a Heat Gun, do you think a Hair Dryer would work?

    • @leowatley
      @leowatley ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PatriotPrimeReviews i think that should work. they can get surprisingly hot, though, so i'd start on the lowest setting, and, if that doesn't work, slowly crank up the heat. should do the trick. just make sure you keep the heat moving and don't focus too long on any single area. sometimes you have to massage the stressed areas slightly, but, more often than not, the marks will just disappear.
      i do suggest investing in a heat gun, though. it's one of my favorite tools. it's also really useful for disassembling old toys, especially ones with those evil, awful pegs that are locked in with retention clips. i snapped more than a few of those before getting my heat gun. a good, adjustable heat model is only about $60, and, once you have one, you'll keep finding more and more uses for it.

      @@PatriotPrimeReviews heat guns are also really useful for fixing bent or curved soft plastic weapons back into shape. heat them up until they're slightly floppy where the bend/curve is, then immediately sandwich the item between two pieces of cardboard that are at least 1.5x larger than what you are trying to straighten, then use a bunch of binder clips (or wrap tightly with strong tape) to hold the cardboard in the desired position. let cool completely and bingo. i do this mostly for megazord swords and g.i. joe weapons.

    It sucks that the titans return Fort Max did have even half the firepower and even worse city and battleship modes. I had to buy both DNA Design kits for a hefty sum.

    I like the Japanese continuity version of Fortress Maximus better. When I first saw the seasons 3 and 4 of the American version of the Transformers, I remember hating it, especially the Rebirth episodes. I loved the seasons 1 and 2, I even loved the movie, still love those, but the seasons 3 and 4, especially the Rebirth episodes, were total disappointments, in my opinion at least. Thankfully, the Japanese continuity fixed the issues. That's how I felt, when I watched the Transformers G1 and the Transformers: The Headmasters (the Japanese continuity).

    Before g1 Fortress Maximus came out, which transformers toy was the largest/tallest?

    Dang, I'm used to newer figures dropping the gimmicks older figures had, but even the transformation for G1 Fort Max is better than the Titans Return version, the city mode here blows the TR city mode out of the water. Maybe I should skip the TR reissue and just get this one inste-

      LOL! At the time, this was the most $$$ I've ever dropped on a figure.
      Having him is the reason I didn't get the TR one.
