I actually love this bag ! The leather is fantastic and it’s a lighter weight bag that doesn’t kill my shoulders and neck. I fractured C5 and C6 when I was 19 ( now in my 50’s) so I really have to be careful on handbag weight. I love larger bags too the Sheila bag is a great size. I’m okay with the slouchy because the lining HOBO uses makes it easy to find things in there.

The handles can absolutely be turned down. You have to twist them but turning them inward to the outward position. I love this bag. Hope that helps.

thanks for answering my question. i couldn't find any videos that answered if those handles go down. such a great bag but that's annoying. also needs more external pockets
