Another excellent shot of town. And you went through my neighborhood and in front of my address. The Congressional Black Caucus is held in DC once a year (usually mid September and always popular Wednesday through Saturday night (big banquet where the President of the USA often speaks). You are free to enter the convention center and register onsite. Once registered, you will receive a badge that allows access to most activities (expo hall, seminars, etc). There are also additional activities that cost but you are informed well in advance. Aww. Sad you missed. It's the only time of year when downtown DC feels like various parts of Johannesburg. Same energy and vibe. I assure you that if you both walked in and said you were from South Africa, the red carpet will be rolled out and helpers would come left and right to get you whatever you want. The Africa forum was held Friday and Minister Ronald Lamola was present and gave a speech and talked one-on-one with anyone who wanted to chat, afterwards. He's in town promoting international investment in South Africa.

Washington, DC is my hometown. Graduate of the University of the District of Columbia. This is a good place to visit the main campus on Connecticut Ave. Learn about the era called Chocolate City which African Americans fully ran DC. Check out Ben's Chill Bowl, the African American Museum, Georgetown, Anacostia, and the Arboretum (our family house is there). Yes Negril is one of my favorite Jamician restaurant.

As someone who travels a lot, I don’t care where I am, i am still careful with my phone in public. Please don’t be lulled into a false sense of security.

To be honest, I don't know anyone who has had a phone snatched in public in DC. I can't recall such discussions in conversations with other locals. Nor have I heard anyone around DC express that as a concern. Now don't get me wrong, DC ain't perfect. There are parts that look decent but far more dangerous than many parts of Johannesburg. There is even a notorious spot in this video. Like I wouldn't recommend walking in the area shown between 19:30 to 20:40 late at night. Hey I keep my head on swivel when I'm there during the day. No phone threat just too many hoodlums.

Nice work!! You were "almost" at the Caucus. At the time of your video (noticed on the bus scene), about 80% of the Congressional Black Caucus was completed. Everyone was back to their hotel room resting in preparation for the big banquet at the convention center or numerous parties in town.
Hey place that I think you guys should try footage from a baseball game at National Park. It's in a new upmarket neighborhood (metro stop is Navy Yard). If you are free on a day that the team is playing, one can go to the stadium and purchase a ticket (often as low as ~$20) and check out an American pastime sport. The season will be over soon. Basketball (NBA) is good too but the season has not started yet.
October 16 through 20 is Howard University Homecoming. It's an annual gathering of alumni and students and DC almost has Black Caucus vibes again. It'll be a great place for content. I wish I could attend myself but I'll be in Jozi that week.

I think you’re being a little unfair. There are lots of places in the U.S where that little library wouldn’t work. That’s clearly a very well to do part of D.C where people can afford to give books away in the first place. 1:26
