My great grandmother only wore Lair de Temps and she bathed in it!!! As a child I remember hugging her and being enveloped in it! She had so many bottles in her dressing room. Guerlain vintage Samsara, J’adore, Ralph Lauren Safari, Must De Cartier vintage, YSL Paris vintage, I have the vintage formulas of these, except for YSL Paris. I agree there’s nothing boring about J’adore, it’s a gorgeous classic!💖💜
I wore Amarige yesterday, and Rive Gauche has really been giving me so much comfort lately. I don't care how old they are, they're blumin amazing . Rive Gauche makes me feel very chic, but also very comforted. Amarige is just very special, I hadn't worn it in colder weather, but I will be now. Xx
And, yes, we are watching this channel for you darling (also Claude is a lovely bonus). So many of your choices today remind me of times with my mom and her mother. Growing up in India during my early years, it was a huge luxury in the early 80s to have French perfumes that weren’t available there. Each spray of L’air du temps and shalimar was an exercise in exquisite olfactory pleasure. My mom and grandmother wore J’adore as do I, but the flankers Infinissime and now the new J’adore L’eau made without alcohol. Also, the OG Coco from the 80s makes me think of fun Indian parties every weekend when all the aunties and uncles would dress up, mingle and gossip about each other on the drive home. Lol
I tried the Dior Diorissimo at tax free this summer. Wonderful to remember the fragance that I bought once in the late 70’s. It’s still one of the best.
I always gravitated toward vintage French fragrances, so I tend to compare modern fragrances to them. Yes to Shalimar, L' Air du Temps, and Rive Gauche. I'd also have to add L' Heure Bleue, and Mitsouko for Guerlain. YSL, also Paris and Champagne/Yvresse. Dior: Hypnotic Poison (recently got the Dua dupe of the first formula), Dolce Vita and Miss Dior Cherie (again, got a Dua dupe of the first formula, and it immediately started to sparkle when I sprayed it). Givenchy: Fleur d'Interdit, Givenchy III and Givenchy Gentleman. (I believed in the concept of 'unisex" long before it was thought of. I didn't see why women could only wear floral type fragrance, while men got the aromatic, herbal, woody types.) Although it's not vintage, I'd have to add Chanel No. 19 Poudre (can't stand no.5).
choke someone out 😂 A few others I wore 80's/90's Ysatis, Van Cleef, Cinema, Tresor. Samsara, Paloma Picasso, Organza, Carolina Herrera (original) , Armani Gio.
Gabby, my grandmother is 94 - a true southern belle! - and she told me a few months ago about L’Air du Temps! She said that her sister chose Woodhue, but it was too strong for her! So she chose L’Air du Temps! I bought it immediately 😊 I also purchased Shalimar a couple of years ago and it has been too hot here in South Carolina USA to wear it lately, but we are getting close to Shalimar season! I wear Samsara all of the time, and L’Interdit is my husband’s favorite fragrance on me (and my “signature” fragrance), but I cannot wait to get my hands on Amarige! ❤❤
I live for vintage fragrances. Shalimar, Rive Gauche, these fragrances were and remain the bar for all that came after it. Yes, we may have moved on and our tastes have changed but these set the stage.
Why do people listen to you? Because it's a pleasure, dear Gaby! Your knowledge about fragrances, your accurate reviews, your voice and last but not least that british accent that keeps me obsessed. You are a lovely lady. ♥️
Chanel Coco EDT, Opium EDP, Knowing by Estée Lauder, Magi Noir by Lancôme and Perry Ellis 360. Some of my vintage fragrances I wear often! Oh... you're so right, some people do need to be chocked! Speaking of a church woman I know who always waves her hand in front of her face when I wear these but especially when Amarige is my privilege of the day!
What a marvelous selection! Thank you for sharing it with grace and elegance, comme d'habitude. My own selection would include Paloma Picasso (EDP), Knowing, Cabochard, Parfum de Peau, Aromatics Elixir, Poison, Dune, Organza, Poême, Trésor, Feminité du Bois... and all that jazz! 😉❤️🙌
Poison, organza, cabochard now these, are beauties too. I think I'm going to do a part two. Let's focus on the things,we know, and love ❤️ 😍 💖 thank you my lovely 😍
I remember the first time smelling Amarige in August, 1994 and loving it. It was joy and happiness in a bottle. I remember the first time smelling J'adore in December, 1999, getting a sample of it and loosing it. I was very upset. 15 years ago a liquidation centre in my city received perfumes from Sears and I bought a limited edition golden bottle of L'air du Temps. When I sprayed it on my t-shirt I thought of giving it to my mother, I was 45 then and she was 68. L'air du Temps is just too "modest", even boring to me. If Amarige is a young and bubbly girl, J'adore is her elegant older sister , L'air du Temps is their conservative grandmother.
Great video as always Gabi, love your character and of course, your extensive perfume knowledge. I think I was born in another time of past life because I always gravitate to anything vintage and classic! You just can’t beat the OG’s imo. Personally, I love Shalimar (the Queen of Perfumes) there’s something so special about that one, Chanel No 5, Molinard’s Habanita and slightly later, Dior Poison. My mum is a fan of Guerlain L’Heure Bleue, apparently the late Queen Elizabeth liked that one! I like it too, but I leave that one to my mum 😊.
So many beautiful vintage fragrances. I wasn't on board with J'adore at it's release either but I do like some of the later flankers. For vintages though, I adore the original Miss Dior. Absolutely stunning fragrance in edt, cologne and parfum. I also love vintage Diorella, and of the Guerlain range, one of my favourites is Chants d'Aromes. What a delightfully beautiful feminine elegant scent! Another that is vintage by now from the 80s, and also quite a bombastic aldehydic white floral, is Joop! Femme. I have a vintage bottle and it is utterly heavenly. What a masterpiece!
I just made a similar comment on your latest video, but thank you for recognizing the classics! I own (or have owned) and loved all of these except for J’Adore. I started wearing most of these when I was a teen in the 90’s, and my friends would pick up the bottles and say, “These smell like old ladies,” then later compliment me on the exact same scents they dissed, lol. I always liked what I liked and rocked the hell out of it - and I always will. 😉
Love your content Gabi! You are beautiful with and without makeup but I do love your look here. Your lips, brows and eyes are stunning! I wish I could come around to loving Amarige…perhaps one day. A few of my vintage loves include YSL Paris, Dior Addict, Givenchy’s Organza, and Youth Dew from Estée Lauder. Thank you for your wonderful videos!
Hello Gabi, I think the fragrances are timeless if they are still here. I love traveling through my sent memories with perfume. I appreciate you bringing these fragrances to TH-cam and keeping them in visibility. New isn't always better. Thanks for your video Gabi! -Jenn
Shalimar is my favourite since i was 25 . It was and is my main one and only comforting companion . I wear it in wintertime. It remains me on New years eve and gun powder . I love the bergamotte, the vanilla cloak.
Ohhhhhhh…. The cat… I am 5 years old again. My grandma used to home some cats (As you do not own but home them❤). One being a Siam. He was a die hard snuggler-always and everywhere. I often watched movies with my grandma. The best part was always the cat as it came on your lap and lied on your chest and you could hug it for hours. Only getting up for litter and food. Purring cosy fluff. Super docile too. Loved that cat - still thinking of him today. I was in my teens when he died.
Everytime I see my bottle of Amarige I think of Veronica 😉 she is class. I adore Rive Gauche and have owned it since my 16th birthday. I'm now 53 !🥺. Great video Gabi 👍🦊😘

Hello :-) your channel is one of my most favourite ones, together with Veronica and Claire:-). I personally am here and what caught my attention and never let it go, is your, in my opinion, very unique style and taste /amongs the other youtubers/. I m not too much into the consumerism and "fast reviewing 100 fragrances in 2 mins" type of videos. Fragrances are to be savoured and enjoyed and i do feel genuine passion from you which i absolutelly love:-). The kind of your... "sexy" jokes are not my favy, but i totally can go with it and i m sure there are ppl who love that:-) i love other stuff about you more and it s here. So thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and your love with us:-). Have a lovely day:-).
Well thank YOU for, watching and for at least understanding my sense of craziness. Claire is lovely 😍 I nearly met her but alas it didn't happen! Who knows we might meet yet! Thanks, again for being here it gives me great comfort. 💕💕
Ysatis I would add -as it’s one of D Ropione’s first creations and CK Obsession (it’s now a vintage 😳)and Lou Lou. I love your list and I wear all of those except the Nina Ricci classic… I guess I always felt like it was too light for me but now I want to look into it. Speaking of vintage, White Diamonds is a wonderfully affordable almost exact version of Ysatis ( I have both) and love them! We do watch for YOU- you are fabulous😘from Dallas!
Always looking forward to see you because your videos are very entertaining and your collection is interesting and divers. Please remember that when you get second doubts, I am not the only one who thinks that
Oh I always wear Shalimar around the holidays! Maybe people around me are singing Gasolineeeee...Bowie style, but I love it! Would be fun if you did a naughty or nice perfume list!
My little 4 year old daughter likes it but says it smells like sudocreme 😂. It does, a bit and Chanel No 5 is baby powder! My 14 yr old likes Chanel No 5, hates Shalimar and likes Poison although admits it’s a bit mature for her. I do like Dune aswell and I used to borrow a bit of my mum’s as a teenager in the 90s 😂. I only have a mini vintage so I don’t wear it much these days.
L'aie du Temps is the fragrance my Grandmother as well as my Great Grandmother wore (my family all gave birth very young, GGram@-15, Gram@18 and Mom@24. It is so very sentimental to me. I don't wear it much, but the smell brings back so many memories. It was funny, when I finally got around to asking my Grandma what her signature scent is, and she said L'air Du Temps and when I got a bottle and smelled it, it was memories throughout my childhood flooding back to me. It was an ah-hah type moment. I love that I can bring it out, smell it and be brought back to memories with my grannies.
Shalimar is easily my favorite fragrance of all time. The closest fragrance that came to dethroning it was Dior's Dune, but like you said Dior butchers reformulations and Dune was no exception.
Fantastic review. I adore vintage perfumes the most. I could not be without my shalimar, and as for L’air Du Temps, I wear it at night to sleep 💤 🛌. I do love Chanel No 5 the most and also wear it to sleep. I wonder, if you tried the Chanel number 5 in an extrait parfum, would you change your views. ❤ BTW loving the makeup and💄
Gabby my love, you are YOU & that’s why I know I watch you, as I’m sure is the same for others! I need to find more Rive Gauche, I started wearing it in Jr High (grades 7-8) & only have a tiny bit in a travel roll on from back in the 70s. Reminds me… know I have OG versions of Dune, Coco (despise #5 🤢), I think Paris, deco OG JPG in the figurative bottles, possibly more… not sure what’s up (or down, sideways, so on) right now but I’ll message when I can manage to have a look just in case🙏🏼🤞! Much love! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️🏍🇺🇸~>🇬🇧
Also, not sure if it s "proper vintage" :-), but my favourite and much much loved is Dior poison:-). It s intoxicating:-). in my opinion an iconic masterpiece:-).
I am a massive Poison fan! OMG there’s just something about it, deep, dark and a little bit addictive. My mum used to have Poison in the 80s but it was too grown up for me then, I still liked it. I do like the flankers, get compliments from Poison Girl and HP is nice but it’s not really me. Poison OG is special imo 💜
1. I'll tell you why. Because you are you 🥰!! I honestly can listen to your voice/accent all day it's music to my ears ❤️ I Love and have all but 2 I never got the Jadore vibes and Never smelled the Dior? Shalimar is my Mom and YSL rive gauche was my Mema both women gave me the good taste😇😇 RIP.. 2. Cobb Web 🤣🤣 3. Love you thank you 🥰
I wish I could try diorissimo. I love L'air do temps. I appreciate carnation. I love the combination of the spicy floral with the thick petal floral. Some of my older perfumes are Coco, Opium, L'huere Bleue. All loves. I need to spend a week with my vintages. Ty Gabbi ❤️ that Claude on your shoulder like a little baby. I could eat him up 😹
Gabi, sorry for the spam i m leaving here:D, but.. do you knwo what i would love to see? I d love to know which fragrances were the "first love" sniff for you, and also those, which you needed a bit more time to get used to, but ended up loving. I guess you mention some here and there, but if you at some point find yourself out of ideas /most likely not happening ever, but... you know:D.../ this is my suggestion:-) have a lovely day:-)

I so love Liz Clsiborne edt in the triangle bottle. Its so beautiful and unique! Wont you please review that one. Its an awesome vintage as you know.. the reformulation it still quite good and affordable. and btw, great review😊
Why people like to watch you -- I think it's all in your voice. You get a lot of comments that people are intrigued by it. I think I know why. It suddenly struck me that you sound like a British Bette Davis. You have a similar vocal quality and speech pattern. And when Bette Davis speaks, people listen:)
My great grandmother only wore Lair de Temps and she bathed in it!!!
As a child I remember hugging her and being enveloped in it! She had so many bottles in her dressing room. She dropped one in the 80s and it busted, Lair de temps seeped into the wooden floor and some on the rug and that room was forever scented. She was a southern belle but she would jokingly say she was instead, a frilly daffodil. She wore makeup every day, colored her hair, very femme. She loved jewelry, to the point of tackiness. She said she was on the "nice side of tacky" lol
She had incredible wit and sense of humor. You two would've been friends, I just know it.

Hi Gabi!
Thanks for the video!
I am here for Shalimar &L’air du temps I love wearing both anytime anyplace!
Hello Salomé like others you're here for me and I appreciate you so much 💗 💓
@The Fragrantician I truly appreciate your channel and look forward to your videos 🥰!!!!
Hey… I will never get tired of Shalimar or Amarige. ❤❤❤❤
Hey Wendy shalimar is one I grew,to love ❤️
I just found your channel, and have thoroughly enjoyed this review, and immediately subscribed ❤
Yay! Thank you! I love that you love my style 😆
great review i loved watching you greetings from the netherlands
Hi to the Netherlands 🇳🇱 ☺️
Ysatis I would add -as it’s one of D Ropione’s first creations and CK Obsession (it’s now a vintage 😳)and Lou Lou. I love your list and I wear all of those except the Nina Ricci classic… I guess I always felt like it was too light for me but now I want to look into it. Speaking of vintage, White Diamonds is a wonderfully affordable almost exact version of Ysatis ( I have both) and love them! We do watch for YOU- you are fabulous😘from Dallas!
White, diamonds is beautiful! Hello to you in Dallas 😀thank you 💕
Always looking forward to see you because your videos are very entertaining and your collection is interesting and divers. Please remember that when you get second doubts, I am not the only one who thinks that
Aaah thank you 😊 I never try to second doubt but we're only human ♥️
That’s what makes you so relatable 🥰
Oh I always wear Shalimar around the holidays! Maybe people around me are singing Gasolineeeee...Bowie style, but I love it! Would be fun if you did a naughty or nice perfume list!
Now that's,an idea Amber naughty or nice list??!! Which one would we be lol 😆
It's,lovely when you can bond with those, special memories 💜❤
Shalimar is easily my favorite fragrance of all time. The closest fragrance that came to dethroning it was Dior's Dune, but like you said Dior butchers reformulations and Dune was no exception.
Yes,Dior are renowned for butchering reformulated versions!
@@thefragrantician that could be your next video best/worst reformulations!
BTW loving the makeup and💄
Thank you Shirley, I used magnetic strip lashes here to give,an alluring look. Shalimar had to be in this list!!
Shalimar isn’t for wallflowers and you are certainly no wallflower my Gabster, you are a little star ⭐️
Aaah Ange my darling ♥️ ❤️ 💖
Omg!!!! Kitty- u so adorable. Wants mommy
Yes he's my baby haha 😄
All the old original perfumes were the blueprints for modern perfumes to come imho
Yes that's,a valid point!
We both despise no 5! Although I do love no 19. Thanks Jet ❤️ 😊
@@thefragrantician - The only Chanel frag I ever liked was Cristalle & that didn’t last t minutes on my vampire frag sucking skin😉! J. XXX 😘🧡
Amarige is my favorite fragrance
It's beautiful 😍
Also, not sure if it s "proper vintage" :-), but my favourite and much much loved is Dior poison:-). It s intoxicating:-). in my opinion an iconic masterpiece:-).
Oh yes that's definitely vintage by today's offerings. I love it 😀 😍 ❤️
I am a massive Poison fan!
I have yet to smell Shalimar but I think I'd like it. I sent for a sample of Eden.
Shalimar is,a,smoky queen! Eden is in my tops of,all time!
We want more!
And there will be more!!
I look gorgeous, Gabi. ♥️
Hey Molly great to see you 😀 🥰
Heeey Gabi ❤️ I have at least two of these perfumes .l still love my vintage babes 😍 they'll get you through it nothing else will .tfs 🙏🏼
Carolyn so lovely to see you here we love our vintage styles ❤️
Love you thank you 🥰
Hi there my jokes are close to the bone I know lol 😆 thank you for your lovely words ☺️💕
You’re absolutely right about the performance of today’s perfumes.. they’re not as lasting as they once were and their potency is much weaker.
Performance isn't everything but yes they were potent!
P.s. You mentioned tango. Have you tried Tango by Masque Milano? It's a wild & hot dance in a bottle.
No I haven't tried thar one!!
I could eat him up 😹
Hey Tina isn't Claude the little co host lol 😆 thank you for being here ❤️
@@thefragrantician he is! Cute little baby boy. His purrs are so loud. Happy cats are the best. 💙
Hi!!! What’s lily of the valley and gardenia- I love them sooo much!!!! I can always detect when a perfume has lily of the valley❤
Lilly of the valley is such a delicate floral that perfumery has mastered to replicate I love it 😀 😍 ❤️
Oh Claude, you're such a lovely boy 😍
He us such a lovely boy 🤩
I love amarige I wore it in high school I must get it again . Can you pls do a video of white diamond perfume by Elizabeth Taylor ? Many thanks 😊
I need to do one, I have so many ideas!
@@thefragrantician also if you can do a review of houbigant quelche fleur the royal version ?☺️ many thanks 🙏
I would love to experience the 20's just so i can be a flapper
You'd be a Josephine Baker for sure!!!
Gabi, sorry for the spam i m leaving here:D, but.. do you knwo what i would love to see? I d love to know which fragrances were the "first love" sniff for you, and also those, which you needed a bit more time to get used to, but ended up loving. I guess you mention some here and there, but if you at some point find yourself out of ideas /most likely not happening ever, but... you know:D.../ this is my suggestion:-) have a lovely day:-)
Love,at first sniff? I did fo a vidro a while back on this. I could do another though!
@@thefragrantician oh perfect:) i thougth there might be something that i didnt manage to see yet:) i ll have a look:)

Would you call Dior addict a vintage. I do get oodles of compliments.

Now i want to smell that Nina Ricci… like why would someone say it’s made for Nuns? I want to know 😁
Loved this video Gabi ! I love vintahe and classics as you know… ❤
Hello Paola yes, I was once told that I think it was,a big joke!! 😅
I so love Liz Clsiborne edt in the triangle bottle. Its so beautiful and unique! Wont you please review that one. Its an awesome vintage as you know.. the reformulation it still quite good and affordable. and btw, great review😊
I've never heard of it I have to hunt for it!! Thankyou 🌈 💜
@@thefragrantician hmm, I posted this earlier but its gone, Its Liz Claiborne not Clisbourne. It goes for under $20 nowadays😊 ty ty
Oh my gosh that has made my day! A British Bette Davis. I'll take it thank you and thank YOU for watching 💕💕
