- I'm 74 years old....it's a process. Makeup storage is difficult for those of us with lots of it! I share with you what I'm doing now and how it's working for me...enjoy! xoxo patti 🎀

My 2018 resolution is to get organized and buy less. I am overwhelmed by my possessions. My makeup, my closet, my kitchen, my bath products...I am seriously going to make due with less this year! I have started in my kitchen, wish me luck! This was inspiring. Thanks.
I've been doing the same for year and wow is it EVER a better life. I have everything I need but no excess. Even my neighbors that came over said wow, your home seems so much bigger! So clean. I've done my entire home and my personal stuff. I highly recommend it.

I found this video so fascinating. It is a study on how we change and evolve throughout our lives. Nothing is static, is it. I have always been into skincare, but never had a passion for makeup outside of my career. At home I always liked the feel of a ‘naked’ face. Eyes and lips, yes, but no foundation. I do admire women like you who can tastefully wear makeup that looks so glowing and natural, . though. You look beautiful. You have inspired me to go through my lipsticks and scale down and throw away the ones that I have had for years that I have to use a lip brush to get anything out of them as though I’ll never find that color again. Makeup storage is so very difficult for me and I'm tired of it, too. I have been using the same eyeshadow palette for three months. Oh my goodness, that lucite box is terrific. I would love to get mine to that and I'm really going to try. I have really streamlined my products, so I just need to pull the trigger. I donated a lot of palettes to my daughter's dance teacher for them to use for performances, and I need to do it again. Sorry this is so long but I feel so inspired by you. Love you!!! Melissa
I'll tell you Melissa...it's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I truly believe we"ve (and I include myself) created monsters/hoarders here on yt. For me it's not a matter of just using what I have - I will never use everything that I have - heck...a lot of it I don't care for at all!!! I've put that rubber maid box in my closet and if I don't go into it soon I'm going to get rid of the whole thing. I just love that little lucite box - it's cute and it holds exactly what I need - nothing more. Love you too..xoxo patti 🎀

How often do we have to replace eyeshadow palettes?
I just yesterday said to my 10 year old granddaughter if she would help me de clutter my make-up. I have it in three drawers and that was after my first declutter! I recently like you went on a trip and only brought a certain small amount of make-up products and that it is what I have been currently using for several weeks. Now I can limit myself on everything except the lip products Lol. Thanks for sharing as this came at the perfect time.

Patti Thank you for doing this video, you just made my life much easier. I have been thinking and thinking of how to organize my make up. I have it all over the place. Going to Ross and getting me the organizer for vanity. Also listening to what you said about just using and having a few things at hand. pretty much not playing the guessing game of what to use next but having it all ready to put on and go. Since I started watching you, I thought I’d found my soulmate; however I have to take issue with this video. While I admire your turn to minimalism, my makeup addiction, I’ve realized that buying makeup is an art and fun thing. Every time I get a new palette, I have a great time playing with it. It’s a form of recreation-seriously. I’m disabled, so maybe I’m easily entertained by almost anything. I know this is an old video, but we’re aging together and I think that’s huge fun. Your beautiful personality actually supersedes your looks. Don’t change.
The IT eye shadow pallet is the best. It’s a small pink color pallet. Can’t beat it !!

Hi Patti. I store my makeup in my vanity drawer- just one drawer. I dont have a "collection" anymore. I have trashed or given away everything I dont want to use every day.I love the Thrive Causemetics brow pencil! It actually stays on even if you are drawing brow strokes on skin. Thrive does not have the most inexpensive products but I love that they support women dealing with cancer and the trials of chemotherapy. They donate one of each product you buy to a cancer patient. The only fail I have had with Thrive is the fiber mascara. This is a great video Patti! Many hugs!!
This is great Patti. For myself I am getting a little tired of all the makeup clutter. I used to buy everything anyone on TH-cam told me was good. Now I just have what I like and use. I keep the makeup I am using in a pretty Makeup bag and the brushes I am using in a cup on my sink. I have a small pull out drawer deal under my sink with extra makeup. Palettes and extra makeup. That works for me. My weakness is lipstick. I buy too much and they are all so similar in color! But I am trying. Great video. Jackie from Indiana

I am a self-confessed makeup and skincare hoarder!!!😱 I told my husband a few days ago that if I live to be 150 I still will have extra makeup 💄. I need to start a Makeupaholics Anonymous and I feel pretty sure the room would be packed!!! A few weeks ago I started organizing into groupings and was amazed at what I found. I have a lucite organizer on my vanity and I will use those products first and when I run out of something I plan to go shopping...in my organized makeup storage drawer. Seriously, I embarrassed myself...my husband laughed but I was appalled 😮! Thank the Lord he laughed...that explains why we just celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary last month!!! I have two granddaughters who are starting to take an interest in makeup and are allowed to wear lip glosses and when they come visit they can take whatever their mothers allow😁. Well as always you are a joy so thanks for your wisdom. You are a beautiful person inside and out😘

I have most of my stuff in the top drawer of my vanity. That saved a lot but it gets crowded on top too. It’s never ending. I love your lucite box. I end p giving so much away to my 28 year old granddaughter. She can’t afford a lot so she makes out great. I just turned 71 and so far I’m lucky and don’t need a lot of makeup but here I am buying it. Most of my friends don’t wear any at all. I am like you, I’ll wear makeup till the day I die. I’ve enjoyed watching all your videos. I just subscribed. I had to laugh, I was watching your video showing everyone your condo in Fl when you bought it. I thought what a pretty rug you have in your dining room. Later I watched it again and realized it is the same rug I have in my living room. I bought it last year from Overstock and it is plush and beautiful. It was a great purchase for me. Anyway I do have to get my makeup more contained.....
Patty, I had an over abundance of make-up also. I have found a solution that works for me. I use a hanging strong cloth which contains three large plastic containers (with a zipper) attached to this cloth with a hanger at the top. I purchased this at T.J. Maxx, and I love it. In fact, I have one for the basic necessities for everyday, and one for special occasions. They are not expensive--maybe around $7 or $8, but are worth a million to me. You can keep them clean by wiping each plastic container out with a wash cloth. When I am finished applying my make-up, I fold my make-up holder and place it in my vanity drawer. Whalaa, and I am through!

I have 2 ikea drawers full. I, too have an abundance. I am 63 and I have decided I can't possibly conk out until I have used up all my eyeshadow palettes LOL. I have felt the same way, lately. Not as attracted to any more makeup. I'm going to try the bag idea with my face products and pencils. The obsessive compulsive collecting and purchase of every product I thought was cool has worn off. The spell is broken. Thank you for all your videos. I enjoy them so much

I took a picture of my little plastic container but can't seem to send it to you. I just started watching you 4 weeks ago or so. I am 66. I don't use a foundation any longer, but I used to use bare minerals. Funny thing.......I already use so many of the same exact products you use including the exact clear container from Ross Dress for Less. You are a doll..

Patty, you are an inspiration to me. I'm 67 and look at you as sort of a role model for my next chapter in life. You're so classy, beautiful, and always bring your smile which I find on my face more often than not. I love your new makeup storage and the realization that you don't need all the products you have. I too have many products and some are new that I have just bought and haven't even tried yet. I store my makeup in my vanity table that was my grandmother's. It's an antique with fancy scrolling and is a muted light green with a brownish gold wash to bring out the designs. It has 3 small drawers. I have the 2 smaller drawers, one for eyes and one for lips. The center drawer is larger and holds primers, foundation, blush, bronzer and concealer. On top of the vanity are several acrylic organizers for lipsticks and eye liners, makeup brushes etc. Then I have one of those 3 drawer plastic units. My lighted makeup mirror sits on top as it's not a tall one and I'm short anyway. The top drawer is for everything else eye related, the middle drawer is for moisturizers, clean brushes and such and the bottom drawer is for other stuff, a lot of different face products, etc. I have a lot, just like most of us.

Dearest Patti, I love watching TH-cam and I’m overwhelmed when I see how much makeup some of the ladies have. I have an old Tupperware box with compartments where I keep my makeup, and like you I have one or two of each thing. I hate to feel like I have too much of anything, It becomes clutter to me, I am constantly trying to donate things I don’t use, if I buy something, something leaves, and I like to limit things like makeup and even jewelry to an amount that I know I will use, the same with purses and pretty much everything. We can all get a little makeup giddy with the latest that promises to cover, enhance and make you look amazing. If we don't feel amazing, no amount of cosmetics will do it for us. Good for you Patti. I have one eye shadow palette that is also my contour. About 3-4 lipsticks, 1 blush...basically one of everything..and is truly all I need. I didn't want for my daughter to see me spending large amounts of money, holding on to tons of makeup and sending out a message that this is how you look and feel beautiful. She is stunning and hardly ever wears any makeup. I am happy for her. Thank you for this video. Love you...Arlene
You are so fun to watch, thank you for continuing to entertain me! We have switched places. Last summer I underwent extensive allergy testig. They identified that I was allergic to Benzoic Acid, a preservative in much make up and parfume. As a result, i can wear makeup again if I avoid that. I'm like a teenager with a much better budget! I'm buying everything I want or like. And I'm 51! :)

I'm glad I didn't have to look for your third eyebrow..lol Gosh your Jim is a real 'gem'!! I store my make up in those little plastic drawers that Wal-Mart sells. They stack on take up very little space. I organize accordingly..pencils together..foundations..etc. I am working on getting thru my stash also. Hey Patti!! This video was BRILLIANT !!!! You know I have the same problem!!!! Makeup everywhere.! Then when I'm getting ready I'm always in a hurry& when I walk back in after the day it looks like a crime scene!!!!! My daughter has always said"looks like a drag queen blew up in there"!!! When I'm organizing my makeup, I think for some reason that I'm going to take the time to put everything back in its little nest!!!Obviously I'm not!!!! I LOVE your idea! Patti, I keep my makeup in a little lucite box, just like you! I love your makeup very much! However, I just use foundation, bronzer, lip color, gloss, mascara, eyeliner and eyebrow pencil. I am going to check out the Elf eyebrow pencil because the one I use was pretty expensive. You are an inspiration to me. Thank you!😊

Thank you for this video showing how you store your make up and what products you use. I've seen many of these items and always wondered about them. I, too, am drawn to the make up area of any store to look and not always purchase. One of my earliest memory is sitting on our bathroom hamper watching my Mum put her make up on. (MF PanStick) and since then, I've always been fascinated and in love with products. I store my make up in those plastic shoe boxes with an index card/label, eyes, lips/nails, etc. They are stackable in my closet and serve me well. Some I can even get a lid to snap closed! What I keep in my make up bag for everyday is actually pretty minimal. Love you - I hope you can see this comment, and receive my well wishes and love.

I truly understand. I have my makeup down to exactly what I put on everyday. I have not changed or added to my daily routine of makeup. I love everything I put on my face. And I get tons of compliments. Same with taking off makeup and then same night creams . I mix two foundations. I love iT products too. Especially her eyeshadows. You use only a tad and the group of them last a year at least. I don’t always use drugstore brands.? I love Two faces Chocolate powder / bronzer.

I think this is wonderful! I was just saying how my goal this year is to enjoy what I already have and how 90% of what I buy I just want to try. Now I do love the things staying. I always relate to any makeup you use I'm not sure if it's because you're a similar Cool toned person who doesn't try to be a Warm tone or what?! But it always works for me. Funny I've been looking at the Kandi palette lately, I'll get it now. And I think I'm going to scale back my makeup from taking over a two sinks vanity. Thanks.

I have tired of the few others I did watch and only look around for swatches of lip colors, etc. I'm a lipstick gal.. Thts my 1 product, just as my mom's was.
I too, use a cubicle almost exactly like urs, acrylic w a handle and it was a flatwear caddie tht I use to use serving buffet style. It's perfect und sink and easy w the handle. I have no more other than a box of all my lipsticks cause I wear diff shades.
Do, glad u guys are safe and Destin is where we vacationed 18 yrs I was married. It's wonderful and I'd love to live there one day but I havent done sun in the last 12 yrs.

Hi Patti, I store my makeups in 2 caboodles. I have a purple one and a blk one from my younger daughter when she used to be on a dance competition team. I only keep the ones I use in a makeup case by my armor. Hugs and kisses.
I do exactly as you're doing, Patti. I have a lucite box with drawers on the bottom and compartments on the top. I don't buy anything that won't fit in that box. I have a couple of palettes with every color eye shadow I could ever need, so I don't plan to buy another one. I just replace various products when I run out, or the products expire. I've been doing that for about six months, and I've never regretted it.

Michelle Hochuli : I k ie what you meander. I want things because someone said it was great. I do enjoy make-up though. But I have a lot. Especially eyeshadow palettes. I don't need to buy more, but I like to try new palettes, foundations. For me the combination of liking TH-cam and liking to try new products is the problem. Silly really!
Congratulations! I have a lucite box with four pull out drawers that I store my stash. But my stash only consists of backups of things that I know I love, use every day and have for years. In my bathroom I only keep a small makeup bag with only the things I use everyday. I'm a total creature of habit, know what I like and rarely stray from that. But I'm not the kind that gets bored easily and have a need to change things up, so it's easy for me. Your lucite tray from Ross is really pretty, so much nicer than your little red box and I love how you can stand things up in it. Laurie
I have mine in the containers u get at the dollar store and have them in my drawer in my Master bathroom I have 3 drawers the middle one has my foundation and eyeshadow my brushes are in little containers from good well. Glad to see you back

When you run out of your things on your little beauty cabinet you can get into your stash and start using one of them, good idea.I did the same thing I have my own little case that looks like a alligator skin with my make-up and then I have a huge bag in my closet filled with makeup I haven't used in forever. Someday I will probably just get rid of it. Love your earrings from my view they look like little owls and I love owls. Good for you Patti! It must be very freeing. I can see the joy in your face when you're talking about needing to use so little and not being tempted to buy more. Nothing weird in that. I have one drawer of makeup and a holder for brushes and I feel that I have too much! When you watch YT creators that focus on makeup it's so tempting to try something that works for them. I guess the key for me is to not watch YT but I enjoy it. xoxo
I keep my make-up in a "Melmer" (a three-drawer, IKEA-type container from Michaels). I have been working on paring down my collection for a while because even though I wear make-up every single day, I just don't feel the need to have *all the things* like I used to. I have been working on using up a few Bobbi Brown (not CF) eye shadows and blushes and am finally making some head-way. Yay! I also have a lucite makeup box on my vanity. I used to have a large basket of makeup but I found that when I bought something new I didn’t dig in the basket! LOL I have similar amount of products in mine as you. It’s worked for me for the last year
I'm more obsessed with skin care products . Love makeup, but don't need lots of palates of eyeshadow products, or liquid makeup. You look fabulous
Carolyn, same here with regard to makeup. I have two Ellis James train cases for skincare and makeup. Guess which one's bigger? Skincare, with dividers for A.M. before shower, after shower, and P.M. routines. I wasn't as obsessed with skincare until a few years ago when I turned 50 and reality hit.

I use a lucite box which I keep in the drawer of the vanity in the bathroom. I love it because everything is in one place and ready to use.

Good morning Patti. You have a great system going, girl! I use an acrylic makeup organizer on my vanity. One draw has everything I need for a daily look. I store my other makeup in the small five drawer sterlite container. I do love makeup! Once I started buying only cruelty free makeup, I quit looking at the makeup at the drugstore. If I need something, I just order online. I know that has saved me a ton of money. Nothing "weird" about you girl. Thankfully my Jim does the grocery shopping, lol. I've been using the $ Tree BB cream for over a year and love it! The color is on the front, Patti. you will see the patch of skin color just under the "BB"..one is lighter and the other is a bit darker. I love it ..love it..love it. I will sometimes add my Invisible Lift to it if I want it darker. But by the time you add a bronzer to contour..it is perfect just as it is.
I categorize then store my makeup in clear plastic food containers with lables eventhough I can see thru them. Works wonderously!😌
I’m finding that I’m paring down some, too. I feel so completely content in my life, so I get it. But, like you, I too will wear makeup till I die! :D

It's called growing up! We decide what suits us and makes us feel good and that's it! I have very little these days. I use it and enjoy it and don't just try everything going. I denote to women's shelters and just replace the brushes with new ones for them. There's so much need out there. We don't need all this excess!
Happy New Year Patti. I think I have all the eye shadow pallets I will ever need by now. I have a drawer in my dresser stuffed with makeup and 2 of those photo boxes under the bed. I really don't need anything else right now. I now have the foundation that I like (thanks to you) and many many blushes. I can't explain why I have so many. I am going to go thru my stash and de clutter. I promise.
