    CWA2000C (Canadian), CWA2000 (American) motion sensor driveway alarm review. I have been using the base and 3 sensors for 2 years and here are my thoughts on this device.

    Mine work great and I would suggest you put one up high like you have it and put another one mid-range on your other post. I live in Florida and the sun beats down on mine 8 years later still going strong and the plastic is fine.

    I have owned this exact monitoring system since 2010 and I have zero of the issues that you present. Mine has been set up with 4 sensors and two are always in direct sunlight, there are no trees on the driveways that 2 of these are set up on and the others are in the woods on my 3rd and 4th ways onto my property. The main driveway sensor is in the clear with no trees as well as the second sensor, the only issues are that you have to change the batteries about every 3 to 4 years. I live in Northern Vermont and have never had snow build up in the window of the sensors. The farthest sensor is on my most northern entrance and is through the woods at about 350 to 400 feet and works perfectly.
    As to the product lasting in the sun and getting brittle after a couple of years, as I stated, mine were purchased in 2010 and there are no cracks or breaks in any of the plastic. As far as weather proof, I put a bead of silicone on the rear mounting screw as well as a bead around the perimeter of the cover groove every time I replace the batteries, every time I open the cover the inside is perfectly clean and looks completely new. I know you did not mention this but I do it, as for the batteries, I always put dielectric grease on the tabs and springs before inserting the batteries, I also unplugged the battery case from the circuit board and put a dab of grease on the plug when new, have never had issues with any corrosion.
    You mentioned that you can’t tell which monitor goes off when you have 4 of them, mine is very clear, two consistent beeps and for the 4th, 4 clear consistent beeps. Maybe there’s something wrong with yours, not sure.

    Check out Guardline motion alarms. They have way more options, can have up to 16 sensors, base station clearly identifies activated zone(s), and you can connect other 12v relays (e.g., strobe light, interior/exterior alarms, etc.) to the system. The base station can be plugged in or operated on 4 AA batteries so that you can carry it around from room-to-room. (I don’t personally own the Guardline (yet), but I will when I buy my house next year.)

    Will this motion sensor pair with the older “Chamberlain Reporter’’ base unit?

    At 5:23 into the video reference the color = I painter mine Hunter Green to blend in with the trees. I had to replace my first one after it died in a couple of years. Now after about two years later my batteries only last about a two weeks, not sure why they drain so fast. Not trusting it to be water resistance I taped the seams and never had a water leak. BTW: I set mine up to a height where small animals will not set it off when passing by. BUT bugs and lizards do trip it.

      Good idea on painting the sensors. This summer the high winds and spiders are setting mine off.

    I bought eight sensors, first one has two beeps out of the box but when i paired the last one number eight it paired to one beep. So then i matched the sensors by numbers around property. Trick is to indeed mount them less than four feet high.

    • @HomeTechDIY
      @HomeTechDIY  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the sensor that has 2 beeps get triggered twice, does it get confusing if it's the 2-beep sensor or the 4-beep one?

    Your sensor is too high! You need it to be at tailpipe height. That way it picks up the heat from the car exhaust, that will fix your problem.

    • @HomeTechDIY

      @don, That's why I'm here! I want to connect my 12v tow truck amber light/power supply to the OUTPUT relay so I can SEE when the sensors get tripped.( I'm partially deaf). I also have CCTV cameras. BTW, the amber flashing light is iNSIDE my house and is located centrally so I can see it from anywhere. It worked great when I initially connected it a few years ago. The 12v power supply is toast, so I had to buy another one.

      Tweaker problems here also. I've considered making a big live-trap out of a shipping container, but I'm opposed to the release part of a catch-n-release program. That's what the sheriff's dept does and we have continuing problems. If you move forward on your plan I hope you use a very very large rectal thermometer...only for better accuracy of course.

    Well what is ugly about it is the wire you have holding it up. I have been using this alarm for years and they work great

    • @HomeTechDIY
      @HomeTechDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. Most of my home tech solutions are temporary and are removed. If I plan on keeping them installed long-term or know they will last in their install location, I'll install them correctly and make it look pretty. Since this video was made, the devices were installed in another location and the sun has rotted the thin plastic around the screw holes and the whole thing is now pretty brittle. Thanks for the feedback :)
