    HOW I REVIEW:
    As you might know from my „How I make a buying decision“ video: Rather than just looking at the pros, I like to evaluate the cons or flaws of an item and then evaluate if I can live with them. That is why in my video reviews I concentrate more on the cons of an item rather than going over all the features. Therefore everything shown is just a fraction of all the points that go into the verdict and score of an item.
    DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A QUICKLOOK AND A REVIEW:
    A Quicklook usually covers pre-production units or items that I only used for a short period of time. While Reviews cover final items that I have reviewed intensively.

    Thanks Bo great review as always. I got this bag in September for a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia for 8 weeks.
    I enjoyed using it as my carry on on flights and trains, I agree the quick access compartment at the top of the bag was very handy, I also liked the compartment on the side which is a bit hidden for passport etc.
    I was surprised how much it could hold and was comfortable to carry.
    I like the idea that it is a bit more rugged than Bellroys more urban bags, I used it to carry towels, sun cream drinks etc for a trip to the beach and it didn't feel like I was carrying my office bag.
    So far the only negatives are the water bottle holder/ tripod pocket takes space from inside the bag, I found the zippers a little stiff but overall very happy with it.

      Hack: If you use a little bit of silicone paste or spray the zippers will operate smoother and last longer

    I love Bellroy products, and I actually love that color, but I'm not a fan of this particular bag. While I generally agree on the utility of the quick access portion of the bag at the top, the lack of structure in the bag means using that only works well if you have the bag fairly packed out. That top part becomes heavy and floppy if there isn't enough packed out to create the shape and structure of the bag.

      @Youknowthebo  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I agree. That is a valid point. But I usually have the bag fully loaded with items for work or travel, so it wasn't much of an issue for me personally

      I agree, had the same experience and sold the bag after a month. The floppy structure, top-heavy design, and slippery bottom made it very frustrating to try to prop the bag upright on a table or the ground to access the top-access compartment.

    It's quite similar with one of Dakine bag that I used. But the front pocket is much bigger here and make it interesting.
    Thanks for the review!

    I agree that the quick access pocket is great, and from my standpoint the key is that it has its own volume. I love medium-sized pockets with their own volume, makes them much more useful. Now that I'm thinking it through, i'd put stretchy water bottle pockets in this category because when used they effectively create their own volume.

    I really like what Bellroy did with the whole Venture line, and this one is no exception.
    I do prefer roll-tops in this size, but seems to be very well though out in general. I agree with your view on quick access. My Wndrd Prvke only has this small one up top and a big shallow one in the front with no separation. They fixed the latter with some organisation on the newer models, but I prefer Bellroy's approach.
    Regarding color besides black: I'd accept a very dark grey 😉

    I like different colors in my bags but I don't want to stand out too much with an EDC bag. With my more active bags, I say the brighter the better just in case I need to be found for whatever reason.

    On the Bellroy website, it says that there is a "Previous Edition" of this backpack in Black and Nightsky colour options.
    What the difference between the Previous Edition and this new Bronze one?

    Grüße in die schönste Stadt der Welt :-) Good review. I just ordered the bag to use as m carry-on for a trip to Norway. Luckily I don't have to worry about getting the electronics out at security, since Fraport already has the new scanners where you won't have to unpack your bag, which is super. Your fav feature is actually what also sold me on this bag, the top quick access compartment looks just perfect, I can't wait to try out the bag.

    How did you find the shoulder strap slippage I have 3 bellroy backpacks and the straps always need readjustment?

    • @Youknowthebo
      @Youknowthebo  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Do you mean slippage in terms of sliding of your shoulders or in terms of their length adjustment?

    I like the design and style of the Bellroy Venture Ready Pack, but for me your review shows me more cons in the longterms. Materials and straps looks floppy. I think Bellroy should use Cordura Nylon than their own special nylon fabrics. In the end I don't need that pack because I already have something similar, the Tasmanian Tiger Modular Pack 30. Quite big for 30l pack, heavy and not really urban focused but at least the pack has some structure. Otherwise I trust in Heimplanet ;)

    • @Youknowthebo

      Agreed. For close to $300 for 26l and 20l lacking to much thought and quality. If they were half the price would be a A+ bags.

    It's nice to see some balance and to point out the not so perfect features.
