    "Teacher, Teacher" was for a long time my favourite Jinjer track. I honestly did not expect them to better it. Then "Home Back", "Vortex" and "Wallflower" all knocked me for six. What a band.
    Nerd note: The drummer (Dmitriy Kim) was a "temporary" drummer while the band looked for someone who fit AND was okay with the gruelling touring schedule. He is now doing what he really loves, which is being a specialist sound engineer with a side-gig in drumming. He still works with the current band members on some of their tracks.

    • @JimboKM
      @JimboKM 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Dmitry is also the new drummer for Feelament who are based in St. Petersberg Russia. He has never met the bass player. Because of Covid restrictions he is stuck in Ukraine and has recorded via internet and with green screen for their latest video DNA (Propaganda).

    You would like "Captain Clock" live at Resurrection Fest. The guitars are a little muddy but the drums and vocals are very good but the performance is epic. Remember never pause a Jinjer song before you see the headers on the next song, I warned you.

    In a way it’s agonizing to wait an entire week for your Jinjer reactions because I know how good each and every song is. That’s in no way to sway what you’re doing. I think it’s great to get multiples in one day. I just think “bro, wait til you hear this one…” it’s also funny that “oh this is my new favorite “. Hold on, it’s gonna happen more. Haha! Another Jinjer fan is born! 👍🤘 I discovered Jinjer in '18 when I was 52. I'm a rock/prog musician and I became obsessed with this incredible band. Bought all CDs and was graced with Jinjer touring as a first time headliner near me in '19. I bought the M&G without hesitation. This is from a guy who has seen a bunch of legendary bands live in their prime. I pass on most shows. NOT JINJER! Jinjer is among the best live bands I've ever witnessed. This is why I enjoy seeing the reacts to their music and sound. 👌👌🎶

    Great reaction. I mentioned it on your Teacher Teacher video, I Speak Astronomy is my 3rd favorite Jinjer song, Tati's clean singing is just so beautiful. She has said in an interview that if she wasn't a metal vocalist, she would definitely be a jazz vocalist, and I have no doubt she would be just as incredible singing jazz. The drummer in this video is Dmitry Kim, he's a frickin machine as a drummer, he was a "fill" in drummer until they got Vlad whose been their drummer since 2016. You'll see Dmitry as well in Just Another (OMV), Words of Wisdom (OMV), and Sit Stay Rollover (OMV). Jinjer Fridays is a great thing, and I look forward to them. for non-Jinjer reactions next week, you _gotta_ do Alex Terrible, lead singer of Russian metal band Slaughter To Prevail covering All I Want For Christmas (possibly the most profane Christmas song ever haha) and Last Christmas which has an unexpectedly wholesome message heh.

    • @Killermcknight
      @Killermcknight  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha that's awesome! Thanks J.F. Since I've been reacting to videos it's crazy how much TH-cam is recommending me bands that other people have reacted too and their videos. That's how I found out about Eskimo Callboy and I've been seeing a lot of Slaughter to Prevail. I don't know how long they've been around for but I'd never heard of them so I'm going to check them out this week. I may pepper in that Christmas song for the holidays! Thanks man!

      @j.f.fisher5318 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Killermcknight Last Christmas is super short, so maybe do a double feature of both of the covers. ;) Also, it is cool to see a stripped back version of Alex Terrible's vocals before hearing them on their official stuff. If/when you do Demolisher, there is a bit where he growls without a mic and there are bootlegs of that in concert, though it isn't as loud as in the video and he has to hush the crowd. Still, he's a very real dude.

    Hi Killer; I'm a new subscriber. I totally agree with your format of going through Jinjer's songbook in chronological fashion. Doing it that way (very methodically) is the best way to see the band's progression. "Astronomy" is special to me, as it showcases Tatiana's clean singing. Her short hair, long clingy gown and jazz riffs mid-song help me envision just how easily Tati could transition into a straightahead jazz vocalist (not that she'd want to, just that she has the chops to). It's funny; I mostly listen to jazz, with metal being only a side-interest of mine. But as soon as I stumbled upon Jinjer a few years ago, I was instantly hooked. Keep up the good work!

    Great reaction again! I think once you get a few more of these under your belt you need to watch Alive in Melbourne. Actually, look up the concert here but don't watch it. Just look at the track listing in the description and it will give you a pretty good list of other songs to hear next. Once you go through all the videos for those then you can do a live stream and watch the full concert! I'm new to your channel and just wanted to give my 2 cents on your decision to wait. Being born and raised in the 80s when we didn't have eveything available at all times I think it's healthy and gives more satisfaction to intentionally wait for the next song. Somewhat like really take the song in and digesting what you've just listened to and then get eager and longing to hear the next one. I remember that same feeling when you were hoping that your favourite song would be played tonight on MTV or whatever brodcast you were listening to or watching. That's a rare thing nowadays and I appreciate that decision of yours.
    Oh, and great reaction, Jinjer is brutally good. Cheers from Sweden

The week after that I think Home Back and Ape would be great! Thank you for enjoying Jinjer Fridays because I agree with you that it would be over soon if I just spammed the videos and I wouldn't enjoy it as much.

    There are three things I have seen the most successful reactors do. One, they watch other successful reaction channels. Two, they don't wait for requests. This at least gives the impression that they are genuinely interested in hearing the artists they react to. And lastly, they add some unique twist to their reactions that no other channel does. Tank the Tech talks about the instruments the artists are playing in the video. Charismatic Voice, who is an opera singer, talks about the artist's background, where they came from, what they were trying to convey through the music, etc. There's another channel by a lawyer whose gimmick is that he's new to metal, and so on. All the most successful channels have just this little something extra they add that you don't get from any other channel, and that's what sets them apart.
    By the way, I notice you're not pausing. Be careful. TH-cam has recently gotten really strict with that. They are copyright striking channels left and right for not pausing during music videos from anyone.

    • @Killermcknight
      @Killermcknight  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rolfye, thank you for the insight and comment. I started my channel as a gaming channel about two years ago and although it got me to about 200 subscribers I couldn't keep up the demands that it would require to grow a gaming channel. I work a normal job Monday through Friday but I really love the process that goes into making a TH-cam Video. however, I only really get a day maybe two a week to do this hobby so I batch edit a weeks worth of videos because I simply don't have the time. I knew about reaction channels and I love music so I thought Metal wasn't going to be a saturated niche. Come to find out it very much so is however, I didn't expect anyone to even view these videos. I love music because when I was younger I was a drummer in a band that toured all over Florida for a few years. I didn't want to be a gimmick as a metal drummer because the "musician reacts to", to me are over played. I want to take this more seriously so there are things I need to change but to address the requests portion of your comment, I wanted to find and share bands that I never heard of to introduce me to new bands that I would enjoy listening to on my personal time. I do agree that those channels you mentioned have their unique style of what makes them different. I recently found Tank the Tech and I absolutely love him! He's a big inspiration for me. I think what he is doing is fantastic. I wanted to give genuine reactions with honest reviews and comments as a fan however, not as a musician. Even if those honest reviews hurt me and my channel like my GLS Nightwish video. I shared a few pictures of my past band experience in my spiritbox video and even that was cringe for me but I was trying to make a point. All that to say I appreciate your comment and I have been noticing everything that you mentioned especially the reactor scene.
      Anyways sorry for that big ass comment but I found your comment to be informative, constructive, and meaningful to me personally so I really do appreciate it.
      P.S. the things I need to remove in order to be more successful is cursing so much, smoking, and I need to speak faster and more precise. I am very casual in my reactions because there's no pausing ever in the video from start to finish so if I'm going to continue with that format I need to get better at not saying ums or pausing as long as I currently do now. Again this is all new to me.

      Apologies to anyone other than Meh Guy who already read a similar comment of mine.
      I love I Speak Astronomy, too! As for the latest album, it's very subjective. I love every song on Wallflowers, and so do most of the Jinjer fans I've seen, but I understand not every song can be for everyone and I'd add that for me, for some Jinjer songs, I didn't follow all of the complexity on the first listen (like Mediator and The Prophecy), but I usually end up liking those songs more than ones I liked immediately because it's somehow very satisfying once the complexity clicks for me. As for lyrics, every time I've read Tatiana's (and in a few songs Eugene's) lyrics, I've loved them immediately, no second take needed, but again not all lyrics can be for everyone. I still keep every Jinjer song on my playlist and still love each one more every time I hear it.
      Dear Mr Meh (sorry I can't find a way to type or copy/paste your name),
      I hope you'll consider stopping this mission against Jinjer's latest album. I'll tell you why I think you should support them: essentially it's that I think the themes Tatiana writes about are important and I think you should support them EVEN IF you think the latest album was "meh". Tatiana has for a long time written about important subject matters in Jinjer's songs. She has continued that in their latest album. If someone is literally paying you to do this, you should quit that crappy job.
      I really really love the song, "Ape"! The lyrics in Ape, giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for destroying her hit me very hard. As someone with two minor kids, I'm horrified, furious and depressed that they have been sentenced to death before they reach adulthood by our capitalist ruling class unrelentingly steering mother nature to suicide with what is essentially a global military dictatorship (nobody other than the US has nine hundred military bases around the world).
      I love Jinjer's music, Tatiana's melodies and especially her lyrics! I think for me, when I discovered Jinjer, I was struck immediately by the lyrics in Pisces, which essentially talk about a vulnerable person being torn apart. Then I loved the balking against narrow mindedness, judgemental attitudes and abuse of power in songs like Teacher Teacher, On The Top, and Judgement & Punishment. I love all the songs that touch on mental health like Perennial, Pit of Consciousness, Vortex, Wallflower and Sleep of the Righteous. I think the two things that made Jinjer my favorite band ever, apart from the fantastic music and beautiful singing (and to me that now includes describing Tatiana's growling as beautiful!), was the many songs that touch on the two issues most important to me, the two things that kill (or are about to) the most people in the world:
      1. Poverty (No Hoard of Value, On The Top and Mediator are the first few songs that come to mind), which kills about fifty thousand people every day, one third of all the deaths each day, caused entirely by capitalism which has always been fascistic (if this statement makes you balk, you very much need to read a book by a former US State Department official, William Blum who has said, "if you told most people the things that the US has done, they wouldn't even believe you": Killing Hope - US Military and CIA Interventions since WWII, alternate title, How Jimmy Carter and I started Al-Qaeda).
      2. Our climate collapse that is underway which will almost certainly kill all life on earth starting with humanity in the next two to four years (see Guy McPherson and MEER Reflection Framework). Here the songs that come to mind are both the ones explicitly about pollution and climate collapse (the whole Cloud Factory album, plus others) as well as all the songs about fascism/capitalism, the cause of both poverty and the climate collapse as well as all wars in most people's lifetimes today (Dip A Sail, When Two Empires Collide, Sit Stay Roll Over, Home Back, again Mediator and On The Top, Disclosure!, etc).
      Take care all, humanity is in hospice.
