Its interesting how the Russian Federation still keep the tradition of the parade I mean everything that is done in this parade was done the same way years later after the fall of the USSR

The defense budget of the Soviet Union, even in the years immediately preceding the fall of the wall was orders of magnitudes greater then that which Russia presently dedicates towards armed forces expenditures, so the spectacle of these parades was far grander. Also, you can tell that there is a genuine sense of pride and ideological conviction in the faces of these noble Soviet soldiers, whereas today its more about pomp and circumstance and pageantry; the silly little drone cameras they use, the fact that the troops are required to smile like idiots as they march past the tomb of Lenin and even the subtle, yet appreciable exclusion of some of the more authentically evocative Soviet marches in the musical repertoire of the combined bands. All of this serves to undermine the solemnity of this auspicious event as well as detract from its historical character.

I don't know why but the Soviets made these parades way better than the modern Russian ones. Today's Victory Day parades are somewhat way too scripted and boring to watch.
I personally (AND PERSONALLY is the important word) Think that It shows that Russia as change since the fall the union, you can see the complete 180 that Ultranationalism and capitalism has done to eastern Europe. They once paraded in the name of "The People" and "the Workers". Now they parades to celebrate long dead value and long dead golden age (They still hold on the one the old Flags of before the fall in said parade even tho Russia his the opposite of Marxist Now a day).Russian and Slavic are really nostaligic of said era and I think its sad somehow. (Thought the USSR was Really flaw due the Stalinist legacy it had, I still think it brought good and was the best counter power we had to stop the U.S. from doing anything they wanted. I get why slavic, mostly Russian, Miss it)

Jonnny Ren it’s the communism that gives a special shine
1) Discipline and accuracy of mouvements (soldiers were forbidden from smilling, practice was key). 2) Cold War weaponry was more aesthetic (the missiles, the tanks, the UAZ) and the fact its ancient today gives it a special touch. 3) Uniforms (mix of cold war parade dress and WW2 combat dress). 4) The size of the parade and contingents. 5) The music (personally the Soviet band executed way better than the military ban of today's Russia). 6) Veterans parading.
55:01 Focusing on the running vehicles, from this timing onwards, vehicles that were marching in parades before 1985 (1974 etc.) are running instead of vehicles related to victory. Before this timing, the UAZ-469 was painted in almost one color except for the logo, and some parts were attached to the headlights, but after that there was a white line, which can be seen in the Brezhnev parade. The same can be said for URAL when it comes to headlight accessories. again
Correct; the USSR's big parades were on May 1 (May Day), and November 7 (October Revolution.) Modern Russia no longer parades on May 1, instead parading on May 9 each year. They still parade on November 7, but it is a MUCH more subdued affair.

Today, on the date of publication of this commentary (October 14, 2024), is the 30th anniversary of the death of Nikolai Skomorokhov, the air marshal who carried the Victory Flag in the 1985 Victory Day Parade. Rest in peace, hero.
True. I wish there was no commentary. In defence of the motherland, on guard for peace, we are army of the people, Leningrad and victory day are so clearly heard. Soviet band really used to play with a sense of grandeur and strength unlike the Russian bands who seem to have lost that character.
29:45 You have to feel bad for those committed Young Pioneers. They sunk their little hearts into being young Communist youth, and Yeltsin and Gorbachev destroyed their little dreams.
Gorbachev tried to continue the communist dream, however it was too late and the economy was failing too quickly because of how the Brezhnev era impacted USSR. Yeltsin came and put pain to Gorbachev’s reforms by taking advantage of him and casting him aside, and further destroying the economy of the USSR and eventually the then new Russian Federation.
I never tire when the first one hundred or more young troops playing only drums come marching out; it gives me chills. Pity how Putin has squandered such a great army wasting away the lives of so many of Russia's young men on a fruitless misguided attempt at taking over Ukraine. I don't fault the common Russian soldier however having been a common soldier fighting in another fruitless war in Vietnam for the US.
And while the people were watching the parade in Moscow Red square. The those young men in the Soviet Red army are bogged down in the War in Afghanistan. And those men in the politburo of the communist party of the Soviet Union could care less about them. And that includes the Soviet hight command. And that's the truth. I thank you for your time.
No, this is march of defenders of Moscow(th-cam.com/video/Zp2IMiBcQtE/w-d-xo.html). Sacred War at 34:05. At 34:24 these soldiers are soviet veterans of WW2.
Thank you brave Red Army soldiers whose victory gave my son a right to proudly march in our mandatory annual gay parades, and gave my daughter a right to race mix with Arabs and Africans.
While I see your point, I think you must concede that the Russian Federation is now one of the most reactionary and conservative regimes in the world outside of the Middle East and North Korea. Putin's Russia is a resilient bastion of tradition and a bulwark against the intrusions of western, progressive ideology. Just look at the historical continuity of the Victory Day Parade and how it is celebrated in nearly precisely the same fashion in 2019 as it was over seventy years ago.
Between 1965-85 USSR wasn't in that deeper and deeper socio-economical crisis, marasm and being overwhelmed by excessive, traditionally paranoid military spending , so The Party didn't feel an urgency to distract and hide that fact by cunning tactics of rising up banners heavy of patriotic-historical pomposity. They gave a society a false and inflated sens of self-worthiness, suggesting that they don't necessary need to live in a well governed, law abident and socio-economically developing country. All they need to be content of theimselves and their country's current status, should come from superficial vision of a recent, victorious past and having victorious ancestors. Putin exactly repeated that deceitful tactic to strengthen the weakening governmental power, when reforms of Russia started to losing up with eternal cleptocracy and too low innovation level.

People forget that countries like armenia, belarus, moldavia were soviet too. They always think its just russia
You can see Armenians, Azeris and central Asians in the parade formations. Belarusians, Ukrainians and Russians look the same.
Yeah, the Soviet Union was very diverse. Hell, the caucasus alone had dozens of ethnic groups.
Im hate The Nazi Germany they got Destroyer All world
@@Ktaurus26 not just them, there were 15 Soviet republics, but 200 different ethnicities in USSR. Soviet Republics had their own autonomous republics inside them. Russia had, and still have 2 dozens of them. I don't know why but the Soviets made these parades way better than the modern Russian ones. Today's Victory Day parades are somewhat way too scripted and boring to watch.
Полностью согласен!
Well that army was 5x larger than Russia has today :)))) And 2x larger than USA...
Боже слезы наворчиваются! Полные Кавалеры ордена славы - живые ветераны!! Которые воевали в ожесточенных битвах! Какая ценная кинохроника!!

This is a 3rd time of Victory Day Parade (40th Anniversary of Victory, Great Patriotic War). I like this one 👍
The same can be said for URAL when it comes to headlight accessories.
again
I haven't many victory parade during the Soviet period, only October parade. This is the second victory parade I've seen after the 1945 parade.
There were 4 victory day parades during USSR's existence: 1945,1965,1985 and 1990.
Correct; the USSR's big parades were on May 1 (May Day), and November 7 (October Revolution.) Modern Russia no longer parades on May 1, instead parading on May 9 each year. They still parade on November 7, but it is a MUCH more subdued affair.

Она и осталась непобедимой пока сама не сдалась предателям!

The economy of Russia is a high-income,[27] industrialized,[28] mixed market-oriented economy.[29] It has the eleventh-largest economy in the world by nominal GDP, the sixth-largest economy by GDP purchasing power parity (PPP) according to the IMF,[5] and fourth-largest economy by GDP (PPP) according to World Bank.[30] Due to a volatile currency exchange rate, its GDP measured in dollars fluctuates sharply.[31] Russia was the last major economy to join the World Trade Organization (WTO), becoming a member in 2012.[32]

Russia has large amounts of energy resources throughout its vast landmass, particularly natural gas and petroleum, which play a crucial role in its energy self-sufficiency and exports.[33] The country has been widely described as an energy superpower;[34] with it having the largest natural gas reserves in the world,[35] the second-largest coal reserves,[36] the eigth-largest oil reserves,[37] and the largest oil shale reserves in Europe.[38] Russia is the world's leading natural gas exporter,[39] the second-largest natural gas producer,[40] the second-largest oil exporter[41] and producer,[42] and the third-largest coal exporter.[43] Its foreign exchange reserves are the fourth-largest in the world.[44] Russia has a labour force of about 72 million people, which is the eighth-largest in the world.[11] It is the third-largest exporter of arms in the world.[45] The oil and gas industry accounted up to 41% of Russia's federal budget revenues by mid-2024,[46] while fossil fuels accounted up to 43% of its merchandise exports in 2021.[47]
Russia's human development is ranked as "very high" in the annual Human Development Index.[48] Roughly 70% of Russia's total GDP is driven by domestic consumption,[49] and the country has the world's twelfth-largest consumer market.[50] Its social security system comprised roughly 16% of the total GDP in 2015.[51] Russia has the fifth-highest number of billionaires in the world.[52] However, its income inequality remains comparatively high,[53] caused by the variance of natural resources among its federal subjects, leading to regional economic disparities.[54][55] High levels of corruption,[56] a shrinking labor force,[57] and an aging and declining population also remain major barriers to future economic growth.[58][59]
Following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the country has faced extensive sanctions and other negative financial actions from the Western world and its allies which have the aim of isolating the Russian economy from the Western financial system.[60] However, Russia's economy has shown resilience to such measures broadly, and has maintained economic stability and growth-driven primarily by high military expenditure,[61] rising household consumption and wages,[62] low unemployment,[13] and increased government spending.[63] Yet, experts predict the sanctions will have a long-term negative effect on the Russian economy.[64 .]

You have to feel bad for those committed Young Pioneers.

32:10 parade start
Меченный предатель на трибуне мавзолея, такую страну разрушил.
@ 54:40 song is Sacred War.

Why they were no Victory parades between 1965 and 1985?
