I am stuck there too! Sierra 2014 5.3L ,oil life at 16% and that P06DD came on...Oil pressure in the cluster looks normal. I just put Seafoam in the crankcase and will run for maybe 300 miles recommended by Seafoam and do an oil change. Truck is at 90.000 KM. Will come back if i have results with that. Regards.
In my case, I found that if I just ignore the recommended schedule and change the oil about every 5,000 miles, my light stays off. I use a quality Dexos oil and an Ac Delco filter. The pressure is there, so there's no real risk of damage, in most cases. Usually, the dual pressure solenoid gets a little stuck sometimes, which will trip a P06DD code. The passages are small, and it seems even the smallest particles (soot, grit, grime, etc... basically everything that makes used oil look dark) will obstruct flow through the solenoid. I figure changing the oil more often could never be a bad thing. And it's certainly cheaper than tearing the engine apart.
@@skullsandflames123 I am using Penzoil platinum full synthetic 0W-20 and Fram Ultra Synthetic filter. if changing the oil sooner work i will change it at 20% maybe. Thanks for your time, regards.
Not yet! The light comes and goes. An oil change helps the "off" frequency, in my case. It will stay off for a few weeks, then come on for a few, then go back off. In most cases, the dual pressure solenoid is actually getting stuck in one position or the other, and sometimes frees up and works. In some (more rare) cases, you may actually need a new oil pump, as well. But either way, the fix requires oil pan and front cover removal, which also requires the steering rack to be repositioned. You'll have to do this at some point (I haven't brought myself to do it yet), but I would definitely try changing the oil, first. And do it about every 5,000 miles or so, rather than following the factory recommendations. Also, a little Marvel Mystery Oil in the crankcase will help, as well. And I highly suggest using an Ac Delco filter and the proper Dexos oil, as well. Best of luck to you!
Lucky Lucy's Speed Shop I’m having the same issue, it goes away then comes back on bro I think I might replace the oil pump. Do you think that will help it?
In most cases, the solenoid is stuck and needs to be replaced. I mentioned in the video that the solenoid and the oil pump come together. In this case, they actually don't and can be bought and replaced, separately. I haven't repaired mine yet, I haven't had the time to put the truck out of work. But I'd feel more confident (in my case) that a new solenoid would fix it, than an oil pump. For now, I would suggest an oil change about every 5,000 miles, with the recommended oil and a good oil filter. Use whatever the dealer does. I use Dexos oil and an Ac Delco filter in mine, and that's been keeping the light off, most of the time.
I haven't actually fixed it yet. In my case, the full remedy would be to replace the dual oil pressure solenoid. It gets a little stuck sometimes, which trips the P06DD code. There is actually oil pressure, and at this time, no real damage will be done. But I found that doing an oil change at about every 5,000 miles (as opposed to following manufacturers recommendations or waiting for the oil life reminder) keeps my light off. I use a quality Dexos oil and an Ac Delco filter.

Did you fix it already, and how?
