I have always loved Corvette and bought my first one about 1-1/2 years ago. I've gotten the same fever you have of "need for speed" and now have a 2016 Z06 and a 2011 Grand Sport. Huge difference between the two but love them both. I'm thinking a lot about the C5 Z lately.
I purchased my first C5 3 years ago. After extensive research I found your videos to be the final confirmation that I needed one. I then moved on to a C5 FRC. Now I'm in a C6 Cam, heads car. Thank you for all of your videos and continued inspiration! I'd love to buy you a beer some day.
I remember in 03 when I spent a lot of time at gm dealers looking at these Z06s I couldn’t afford one then and couldn’t justify buying one later. Now they’re very affordable and I’m going to be buying one in a couple years to build with my son. He’s 11 now so we’ll have a couple years to make it badass. The wife didn’t agree with getting a teen a Corvette even an older one till I reminded her all the trouble I got into in sedans,SUVs, etc. only 2 seats so only 2 people in a Vette and it’s going to get attention from everyone including cops so he won’t be doing anything shady.
@meefjwfhss I cargurus.com is a good start. You can search by year, max price, mileage etc. you can even search by color, trans, convertible or not. You can eliminate ones that have damage history if you like. Yes there are plenty out there under 20k. I’ve seen nice ones under 100k miles, no previous damage for 17-19,000.
Hey Jamal, stumbled on this vid today, you've got one hell of a nice car on your hands and it's clear you love it! You've done plenty of work and I wish you many miles of smiles with it :D
I had an ‘02 C5 convertible. I had a Vararam intake on it, a B&B Bullet exhaust w/4” round tips. I used to get on it in downtown San Francisco along with my cousin on his Harley with a Thunder header. We would menace the streets for a few minutes. I’d be in 1st and 2nd gear. The sounds would echo and reverberate off the faces of those old buildings. We had a ball.
Been following you since the beginning. You’ve come a long way! I sold my C5Z few years back. I’m glad i can still live thru you. Keep living the dream Jamal!
picking up my non-z06 c5 this saturday and this video has me hyped! This is an awesome vid and you seem like a genuine guy, thanks for sharing you journey with this car!!!
Great vid man. Fun watching all the highlights since the beginning and watching you transform the car into what it is today. Now I need heads and leaning towards the same ones you got.
Well as long as you like them. Im a multi corvette owner. 2 show cars a 74 canary yellow 454 with ac 20k miles and a 2013 427 convertible special ordered with 405 miles on it. I have a 2000 c5 I drive everyday and play with. I am in the process of adding a 2017 zr1 3zr with 617 miles on to my collection.
Jamal ,, Beautiful C5 ,, Love the new Wheels and tires ,there nothing cooler than working on your own car,Funny how you cover your License Plates because it’s impossible to trace a person by their plates ,, try it ,, I did. Love the LEDs BTW
What an excellent video. I'm in the market for a C5 Z06, looking for videos showcasing heads, cams, and longtubes. Just trying to get a feel for what I'm in for and I stumbled upon this absolute gem. 👌
Don’t own a corvette personally. However, I watched this video because I love them and you have an amazing channel. Definitely had to subscribe man keep up the good work.
Incredible how time flys!! I can remember watching all those mod videos when they came out. Great video and always great content. Happy New Year to you and your family and look forward to see what you do next. Cheers!!!
You’ve done a great job on this car Jamal- take it from an old Gearhead who’s lucky to still have kept his C5Z over 11 years, 46k miles later - hit me up whenever
OUTSTANDING video, Jamal! That was a very comprehensive overview of what you have done to your car. Looking forward to see what you'll do next. BTW, I own a white '99 Coupe. Wonderful car!
One thing I might add if I were you and that would be a short-shift kit. Makes the gear changes so much quicker, positive, and easier. Love the sound of the Corsa man! Good Job, Jamal! Wish I could see/hear that car in person!😎👍🏻😁
I love it! Awesome build. I gotta say I'm a bit jealous, lol. I've been wanting to buy a low mileage ZO6 and do similar. Pretty cool video. Pat yourself on the back, you have a sweet ride there buds! 👍
Nice c5z, my favorite color for those cars also. Seems like a lot of oil for 1200 miles. My supercharged coyote doesn't produce that much in 5000 miles and they are known for needing a catch can.
@@TheTmshuman both cars have crap heads. Valve springs, valve guides, harmonic balancers, basic engine components that should last forever. They did it on the C5, then again on the C6 Z06.
@@truantray Cool story bro. Care to back up any of that nonsense? The only issue the LS7 had that was wide spread (fraction of a percent) was none concentric valve guides. LS7 heads crap? 😭
Dig the video.👍 Just don't go down the supercharger route due to mod addiction. I would move on to another platform or upgrade to a 630whp 427 if you must.
The stock 243 heads are already pretty much the best for the ls6/ls1 platform they flow well up to 630hp. I wouldn't have swapped those out. I Have the base C5 LS1. I NEED a head upgrade lol
Quite lucky w the broken valve spring failure. 😳 I had a track day in October ‘20 w my EBM Z06 w stock everything. Pulled it apart for a build so I can avoid that failure. 85k miles I guess I was pushing my luck 😅
We just picked up a C5 Z. Were that a stock spring that failed? I read the yellow ones have a tendency to fail, but yours did not look to be the factory yellow springs.
I had a few stock yellow ones in the other head. The one that failed was a bronze spring. I'm not 100% sure if that was a yellow one that faded or someone had replaced them at some point.
Young folks like you with a "go get'em" attitude give me hope for the future. Great hot rod and keep up the great work!
Thank you for such kind words, Jeff!

that exhaust is the most beautiful sound ever
It's nice to see someone who cares about their car so much, and doesn't pay people to work on it. Good job and I enjoy your videos.

From your experience....how u like the C6 Compared to your C5 from before?
10:25 what a difference
This is awesome. First time in a while that I’ve watched through a whole video this long.
for sure

Beautiful ride!

Nice work on your ride. I have an 04 same color but coupe. Next up for me is the exhaust.

Awesome build man, you remind me alot of myself when I first got into c5s! Keep it up!
Good call ditching the BB for a Corsa, sounds like a sports car again
I got lucky TWICE with valve springs breaking!
