Wow! Absolutely amazing craftsmanship. I had an idea about how they were made, but didn't realize how elaborate the fabrication process really was. Thank you for sharing.
yet in china they do the same thing, just not as precise, no after thought of how good they look, only the price matters, pay more for good wheels and they will outlast the car they are on, like Japan still has some of the best made wheels, mainly due to the crazy car scene there, but all over the world, stick to your country's Wheel factory standards and you cant go wrong, what they make for japan roads is not the same as wheels made for australian roads German roads etc? Like who makes the wheels for AMG/ or BMW, i cant see Mercedes or BMW making their own wheels, they outsource it to companies based in germany who make the wheels based off CAD drawings sent to them?
Japanese craftsmanship has been so underrated by many for decades, their work is incredible, the quality of the wheels/rims from raw materials to finished product is second to none, absolutely on par at least with anything from Europe. BBS recently won the contract to supply ALL Formula 1 teams with wheels/rims and this is why! ❤
Amazing craftsmanship! Quality process is not cheap, but it ensures that the wheels are as functional as they are beautiful. I noticed most of the employees were not wearing safety glasses even around lathe’s and using air to blast shards of aluminum. Need to protect those eyes so they can keep creating these works of art!
Я всегда знаю, на что я трачу деньги, но покупая Японскую продукцию, мне никогда их не жалко!!! Спасибо вам, я не перестаю восхищаться вашим качеством и ответственностью!
awesome. I miss drifting around Okinawa in the early 70s' with friends in datsun's,mazdas ,toyotas & more around 1AM. PERFECT ROADS FOR DRIFTING. even showed some locals how to do it.
Basically, a relatively quick overview of how they manufacture 3 piece aluminium alloy wheels. These wheels are mainly for folks having fitment trouble, when one can't find one piece wheels with all the right metrics in one package (e.g. the ideal combo of offset, PCD, size, backspacing, brake caliper clearance, etc.
This is a true story, when Nissan had their auto plant in Melbourne Vic, the President of Nissan paid the Plant a visit, a huge PR job with all the usual state trimmings. The VIP car used for this event suffered a minor problem, some wag knocked off the wheels while everyone was busy with the Plant tour. The first time I'd heard of JDM rims.
When I bought my Nissan, in the US, I carefully selected it for a couple reasons. It was assembled in South Korea, but the engine and transmission came from Japan, and this video is why I desired that. The US made vehicles at the time had engines and transmissions coming from Mexico.
But how would they show that in a video like this, each design could be weeks and months of slaving over details and do-overs. Unlike a tutorial video that can whip up a basic wheel in like a 30 minutues session, but with no regards to finishing details, manufacturing constraints, simulations, regulatory guidelines and what have you.
Making, that rim puzzles me! Because I'm a Mechanic he put on lets say pot cover on that machine and when he took it off it turned out to be pot which is a rim.
SSR was going to close down but Tanabe bought them out. Now SSR is labeled as a Division of Tanabe. Even shows on the box packaging when I got my SSR wheels recently.

Это пока на хлеб хватает. Как спрос упадет, сразу забегают, и про качество забудут. Хотя уже многое забыли.
I love seeing the pride Japan takes on their product. Quality Assurance is nothing compared.
Me too !😄😄 The Japanese do excellent work and pride in their jobs.
I was impressed to see that the high-class wheel SSR was designed using windows XP
Japanese craftmanship is really fascinating!
you're such a cringy nerd. they're just making wheels, stop thinking everything japanese is magically superior somehow.
What a beautiful product. I never realised how much work is required, thanks.
The amount of work put into each wheel is just 😘
Now you see why each wheel can cost hundreds a piece. 😆
@@matthew3136 WTF? 👀 This would go on the kind of car where you'd have to worry about where you park it, or you'd find your wheels stolen. 😆
It is mostly automatic :D Most people there just put it on and off a machine. There is really no reason why it should cost this much.
This absolutely explains why JDM wheels are high dollar and takes time to make. Beautiful finished product!
Какие красивые диски, спасибо. Вы молодцы
Спасибо что показали как производят любимые нами jdm диски. Было интересно сначала увидеть знакомый дизайн дисков, а потом узнать знакомый бренд.
That workshop also makes suspension as well! I'm curious on how they manufacture and assemble the suspension system!
