    It seems as though I'm the only one wearing respiratory protection anymore but I don't care. I listen to Dr Osterholm and wear my n95 respirator whenever I have to go into the post office or anywhere indoors.
    This podcast is the one I trust.

      Me too - even in the UK .
      I luckily retired in 2020 so my risk is very low, but it's a no-brainer for me.
      Others can do what they like so long as they respect my choices - which thankfully in the UK they do.
      I just added the Moderna bivalent to the AZ and Pfizer on my bingo card.

    The end game of China's Zero Covid policy? As Dr. Osterholm said, the vaccine rate in those 80s and above is low there. Even if they decide to make it a short pain (and a giant one, like the one in India) and let covid burn through the whole country, they would still have to face the subsequent waves of covid and indirect effects on health care and social stability.

    Hope is not a plan . You said that. Everyone Be wise. Wear N95 protection and change behavior. At Walgreens on the east side of St Paul they are having problems with getting people to work. They are sick with covid. No one to work the drive thru. Really bad. Also can't hire anyone. We need SAFTEY and health to be first.

    It's all strange to me. I'm not vaccinated, have COPD and other comorbidities but not overweight. I've been on hydroxychloroquine since 2008 (+ other meds), 2000 units of D3 for a few years. I've never had Covid.

    Thanks very much for the analysis and commentary.
    Although Covid is still a nagging problem, Australia has managed to work the case fatality rate down from a rather frightening 3% at the beginning to around .14% today. Not dissimilar to the death rate from flu, however, unlike flu, Covid 'rolls on'.
    The high uptake of vaccines, around 95% amongst those eligible, has been a big factor in minimising impact. Most importantly this has meant most of those who do get infected, only get mild disease. This in turn has meant the hospital system has had sufficient resources, particularly oxygen therapy, for those whose oxygen levels become a concern.
    Older people who get infected are usually provided a pulse oxymeter and instructions on its use. If their oxygen level drops below 90%, they call the Covid ambulance immediately.
    PCR and RAT testing continue to be readily available, and most people test if symptomatic and if positive self isolate.
    Mask wearing is discretionary but still quite common amongst those vulnerable in 'at risk' situations eg. medical waiting rooms, checkout staff etc. Mask wearing is assessed to lower viral load and reduce likelihood of serious infection, this seems to be the case.
    Overall social and business life is pretty much back to normal.

      Nothing you have written is correct. "Australia" didn't do anything to mitigate Covid deaths, but it did manage to turn into a police state. Same as Canada.

    • @jimgraham6722
      @jimgraham6722 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yamishogun6501 What a load of nonsense. There is no doubt at all that Australia's approach of vaccinating ahead of the spread saved around 40,000 lives. And no there was very little police involvement, the vast majority of citizens were very happy to comply with te.poeary pandemic restrictions to save the lives of fellow citizens, friends and relatives.
