he should've won the kalos league, that gen was perfect, greninja was perfect, the hype was at an all time high and kalos also portrayed ash's growth as trainer much better than any other gen, especially cuz of the bond phenominon stuff, but yea they really only made him lose to continue the series like thats so shitty, and then we never see ash greninja again
Johto league tournament was peak pokemon, it never came close to that again. And for hoenn,I remember it being rushed, like the writers just wanted to move on
Ash's best loss was Sinnoh. Should've won that. 2nd best loss was Tobias. He took down Darkrai and Latios, no one else even took down Darkrai I'll agree to the rest
Yet again the “cheater” bullshit you say is stupid. Tobias was amazing character (even with legends he was still humble and chill dude who respected his rivals, unlike most of Ash’s rivals), there is not a single mention that Legendary pokemon are ilegal to use, if anything if you have one (or more) it shows how strong trainer you are and that your other pokemon are elite when they defeated these super powerful mons. Defenetly second best Ash’s lost in league after the Kalos league (to me it’s the best one, he really showed how strong he is not only by defeating as the only trainer in Sinnoh Tobias’ undefeated Darkrai but also his Latios, that is in my opinion much better acomplishment then loose to a pokemon who has a type disadvantage no matter how strong the pokemon is).
Thank you! I agree completely! Legendaries aren't illegal whatsoever! At least here they weren't. Tobias wanted to use them and he did, plus he's canonically one of the strongest trainers in the anime. Also, while yeah, most legendaries are powerful, you need the skill to catch them which he clearly has. I know that it's looked down upon to use them, but in my opinion it honestly shouldn't be, they can be caught just like any other Pokémon and it shouldn't matter what Pokémon one trainer wants to use, that's their choice. Also, it was said that most of the trainers in the league were afraid and or scared to go against Tobias because of how good he was, legendaries can only get you so far, as you need knowledge and experience to back it up. I hate that Tobias is a cheater argument, I really do, and I don't use the word *hate* lightly.
Kalos was the perfect end to his story arc, it pisses me off to this day how well they handled the charecter progression in it to reverse it in sun and moon
Watch the episode again Ash was attacked by team rocket and had to tire all his Pokemon just to get back in time to battle Ritchie. His mon were half dead basically and his only fresh Mon was Charizard who wasn't listening to him. He honestly did really good with a bunch of fatigued and injured pokemon.
Another thing about the Johto League loss is that Harrison lost immediately in the next round. Why did he lose? Because he couldn’t use Blaziken since it was still recovering. In a way, that battle was more of a draw than a loss since if Ash had won he would’ve had to fight in the next round without Charizard. And that might not have gone in his favor either
Pokémon ruined themselves Ash’s power peaked in xyz and I don’t care what anyone says Ash Greninja is stronger than his Charizard, I couldn’t care less about Ash beating Leon as Kalos is what mattered. Ash Greninja’s large golden shuriken lost to blastburn…. 💀💀💀💀
he should have won the kalos even tho ash is alola and world champion now i am still mad the way they made ash lose to alain he deserve it he could have also won if it wasnt for cheater tobias rest he lost fair and square
Harrison loss was something else. Because Blaziken defeated prime, regular main 6, Charizard. But fatigued to fight in the next round costing Harrison the league. Tragic! Hoenn was meh. Because he didnt use his best team. Kalos was bs, short league, nonsense final match. Nonsense loss. Not using best team yet again. Best match was against Sawyer where Pikachu half swept. Useless Goodra. Sinnoh was pretty good loss actually. Not only he defeated at least 50'ish win streak undefeated Darkrai, and the only trainer confirmed to have ever been able to show us the second pokemon, Latios, but Ash also defeated Latios as well. Then this loss elevated Sceptile, Heracross, Gible, Swellow and Pikachu. Especially Sceptile and Pikachu benefitted most from defeating legendaries. I dont have a freaking anything to say about Unova. Its the biggest piece of d. sht insert Dwayne Johnson here. Using the worst possible team... Pikachu half swept that team and the only pokemon who was useful other than Pikachu was pignite. Mid evolve stage under trained start pokemon.
The show was at its best at kalos. It seemed like the charectors were maturing, and the art style fit it well. Him losing this time wasn't his own fault but simply bad luck and plot bs.
The indigo League committee should’ve rescheduled Ash VS Richy for later time.. it’s obvious ash came into the stadium on a balloon/bike thing and his team was worned out.. but yet they still let the battle go on.. also didn’t like they consider unable to battle due to sleep powder 😭
Shields could easily be deployed during breaching and cqb situations to protect troops from the first initial shots, then quickly be discarded or stored in transport. I see the wisdom in not carrying one around while rucking, but leaving them at select locations and in vehicles until they’re needed would reduced that drawback, while also giving our guys more protection. However, outside of close quarters combat inside of a structure, they have no inherent advantages because you could just get behind a rock, or a car, or a building, and use your rifle more effectively. So it makes sense that combat troops have little use for them, but to say they’re useless just tells me that person lacks the creativity to employ it correctly.
My ranking: 1. Harrison - Yeah Ash's league loss to Harrison I think everyone can agree is the least controversial. Harrison had a stacked team, multiple bases covered, and also had Hoenn mons like Blaziken and Kecleon. Fair game all things considered. Makes sense why Ash lost since he was facing unfamiliar Pokemon. 2. Tyson - Pretty much only controversy is Pikachu vs Meowth, and even that was just "main character syndrome" successfully trumps the actual main character. Pretty much the rest of the battle is okay. 3. Tobias - Despite the battle being a stomp and one of the more controversial battles (though in all honesty, any of the losses aside from Harrison have varying degrees of controvery), this fight did a much better job of highlighting Ash's skills as a trainer. He brought in a mixed team of aces and "mehs" and still managed to knock out 2 of Tobias' 6 mons, meanwhile the rest of Sinnoh couldn't even take out 1. That, in my opinion is actually worthy of note. Even the finalist after Ash couldn't knock out 1 of Tobias' mons, so that should tell you that Ash was more than likely the 2nd strongest trainer there even though he only made top 4. Plus, the battle wasn't even that bad aside from the beatings that Swellow and Torkoal got. 4. Cameron - As I said, although this matchup makes 4th, it's still mighty controversial, and most consider it the worst, considering Ash had every means open to actually win, and really the only reason he lost is practically the same as his Tyson loss: main character syndrome actually working against the main character, but even worse since Lucario manages to sweep the last half of Ash's team. And of course, Cameron only beats Ash with 5 pokemon. 5. Alain - The reason for this loss coming as the worst 2 really just comes from the fact that when you consider how rushed the Kalos League was, how forced Alain's background is within the League, the amount of BS within the fight itself (looking at you Bisharp), and the fact that this fight was supposed to hype and even hint at a major victory for Ash, it really makes you think that the writers were trolling us the whole time. At least with the Cameron loss, it comes at a time where most people agreed Ash was probably at his worst aside from the Kanto League where most of his badges were either stupid easy to get or were given out of pity. The Kalos League was where Ash was at a high point aside from Sinnoh and somehow he couldn't clutch. 6. Ritchie - However, as bad as the Cameron and Alain losses were to me, the Ritchie loss is the worst. Unlike Cameron or Alain, I do like Ritchie, but his battle style is point for point the same as Ash's by this point. So a battle between these two should've been close. The big problems are a) this wasn't a 6v6, it was a 3v3, b) their battle only lasts about 5 minutes, c) the other 15 minutes which should've been about the battle was about Ash being late because of Team Racket (yes I say Racket because that's all they were in this episode). Because of them, Ash has to battle with tired out pokemon or pokemon he wouldn't use to gain an advantage. Outside factors causing this battle to occur the way it did killed this battle before they even started the clock. What makes the Ritchie loss even worse is that if any Gym Leader had to go through what Ash had to go through, but then had to deal with multiple challenges, they'd usually say, "Let my Pokemon get some rest and come back tomorrow." Does Ash get that option, even though he had no choice in what happened before his match? Heck no! He has to be forced to do the match anyway otherwise he gets forced into a disqualification! Total bullcrap on the writers part. At least I can watch the other matchups and still get some enjoyment (Pikachu and Pignite sweep the front half of Cameron's team, Pikachu cleaning house against Alain as well as Hawlucha vs Weavile, and Pikachu and Sceptile's performance against Latios and Darkrai respectively). I don't have anything to look forward to in Ritchie's fight, which is what makes it genuinely aggravating.
I never really minded Tobias, but after watching some videos about the member card event, Darkrai is locked in the post game so how did he get Darkrai in time to defeat all gym leaders with it?
The Indigo was because of a lot more than his inexperience. Most of his team was exhausted because of Team Rocket or flying him back to the stadium. And Charizard being the worst Pokemon he ever owned. He was basically forced to fight with 2 Pokemon.
He should've won the kalos league. It was such bullshit

he should've won the kalos league, that gen was perfect, greninja was perfect, the hype was at an all time high and kalos also portrayed ash's growth as trainer much better than any other gen, especially cuz of the bond phenominon stuff, but yea they really only made him lose to continue the series like thats so shitty, and then we never see ash greninja again
Johto league tournament was peak pokemon, it never came close to that again. And for hoenn,I remember it being rushed, like the writers just wanted to move on
I really loved this just because you are hero of the show doesn't mean you need to win every time
Ash's best loss was Sinnoh. Should've won that.
2nd best loss was Tobias. He took down Darkrai and Latios, no one else even took down Darkrai
I'll agree to the rest
If ash went to hoenn first before johto he would have won the johto league cuz the only reason he lost is he didnt know what the hoenn pokemons are
Ash-Greninja vs Mega Charizard has to be one of the best fights yet

Ash lost Indigo league because of team rocket 😢
Kalos was the perfect end to his story arc, it pisses me off to this day how well they handled the charecter progression in it to reverse it in sun and moon
You know what’s funny. In some of the games legendaries are banned in certain stuff. I guess the battle against Tobias is smth different 💀
Ashes johto league loss got me pissed. I was like how tf can blaziken dodge in mid air
Exactly water beats fire and blast burn shouldn’t have done that much dmg
he should have won the kalos even tho ash is alola and world champion now i am still mad the way they made ash lose to alain he deserve it he could have also won if it wasnt for cheater tobias rest he lost fair and square
A Mario Kart video in this economy wow
Pokemon Black and White anime was a mistake
The show was at its best at kalos. It seemed like the charectors were maturing, and the art style fit it well. Him losing this time wasn't his own fault but simply bad luck and plot bs.
Ash rlly lost to a pokemon that hadnt been introducrd yet until the next region
Man I gotta catch up. I haven’t watched Pokemon anime since 3rd gen
Harrison at number one. Based 🫡🫶🏼
His Unova league loss still bothers me because Cameron was such a bootleg Barry
Honestly if I had lost in a regular battle that would have been fine, but if I had lost just because my Charizard is an a-hole I would be pissed.
Blaziken wasn't even a Jhoto Pokemon 😮💨
And don't even get me started on the Kalos League
Well he reached everytime finals that's great
The indigo League committee should’ve rescheduled Ash VS Richy for later time.. it’s obvious ash came into the stadium on a balloon/bike thing and his team was worned out.. but yet they still let the battle go on.. also didn’t like they consider unable to battle due to sleep powder 😭
Honestly, Ash's loss to Harrison was the worst one. We were deprived of a good ending because they needed to sell the next generation of Pokemon.
My ranking:
You forgot to add that Cameron (with 6 Pokemon this time) lost to a trainer with an Eevee lineup.
Seriously as a kid everyweekend i use to watch xy it was the best. But the final result was heartbreaking 😢.
“He got so close”
Not like he should have
Then Ash got one “league” win and magically became the strongest trainer in the world 💀
I never really minded Tobias, but after watching some videos about the member card event, Darkrai is locked in the post game so how did he get Darkrai in time to defeat all gym leaders with it?
Bruh the kanto loss is the best
It had tge most impact on the story
The Indigo was because of a lot more than his inexperience. Most of his team was exhausted because of Team Rocket or flying him back to the stadium. And Charizard being the worst Pokemon he ever owned. He was basically forced to fight with 2 Pokemon.
This sounds much more natural. Please keep this tone of voice.
I find it funny that the Johto League loss is the only one people don’t hate
You are about to beat the hoenn leauge... then a fricken blaziken from the next generation pulls up
Oh dang I meant johto
He should've won the Kalos League. The coolest Version of Ash was fucking robbed.
The Kalos league loss was so BS and I think the win in Alola was just meant to be some sort of an apology for that.
