I loved this 2001 Sabres team. Though I was/am a Devils fan, I had a close eye on Buffalo and secretly wanted them to make a deep run. I especially loved seeing the combo of the two veterans, Gilmour and Andreychuk.

This leads to the epic Pens-Sabres 7 game series. Game 7 OT winner from none other than Kasperitis. Mario Lemieux returned this season. What a great Sabres team as well. Great season of hockey. The Avs and Ray Bourque would win the Cup over the Devils.

I'm a huge Pittsburgh Penguins fan and the Penguins won their first round series against the Washington Capitals 4-2. Then of course winning the Series against this terrific Buffalo Sabres team 4-3 in a hard fought 7 game series. Eventually our magical season would come to an end against those pesky New Jersey Devils in the ECF.
