    Appreciated seeing how the Mann-Whitney U-tests would be used as post-test analysis for the Kruskal-Wallis.

    This video was particularly useful to understand the use of Mann-Whitney U test. While we know that there is an overall difference across the three groups you are presenting in the data set, Mann-Whitney U provides the pairwise comparisons between each group. Hope I got it right!

    Dr. Grande- This video allowed me to gain insight on what Kruskal-Wallis test and how it is used in SPSS. I was not up to date on this testing and how it works in research. This video provided me great information and gave me more understanding on when this test should be used and how it should be used.

    I found it particularly useful for Dr. Grande to discuss the differences in assumptions between an Anova and a Kruskal-Wallis H test. As always, easy to follow and understand how to conduct this test and create meaning from data.

    Thank you for the video Dr. Grande. I have not heard of the kruskral Wallis h test before viewing this video. It seems a little more complicated than the mann whitney u test, but I can see how they are both useful tests to become familiar with.

    There are a lot of steps to obtain information and complete this test. You were looking at the IV group for differences between the levels? Thanks for the video.

    Thanks for the video, very useful. One question: after I've identified which gorups significantly differ, I want to report in which group(s) has more depressive symptoms, do I use "mean rank" in the Kruskal-Wallis output or "mean rank" in the Mann-Whitney output, or can I compare the "usual" mean of the variable across the group like if it was an ANOVA?

    Thank you for your video, for post-hoc analysis many people are using Mann-Whitney U-test but others claim it is inappropriate and Dunn test should be used instead. What is your opinion?

    This is used to determine if there are statistically significant differences between two or more groups of an independent variable on a continuous or ordinal dependent variable. This test was a bit confusing and I am sure I will be re-watching this video several times.

    Hi i was just wondering then the Kruskal wallis test is not for paired samples? what if you do three different treatments on leafs (take parts of these leafs to expose to 3 different treatments) and you don't have normality?

    What statistical test can I use in the following scenario?
    "Work environment of 30 offices were categorized as 'formal', 'casual' and 'a mix of both' and rate of absenteeism (percentage) in employees of those offices were measured. (Data set.) Find out if there any association between work environment of the offices and rate of absenteeism of employees."

      Khaled Hasan You could use descriptive statistics and ANOVA. You have one independent variable with 3 levels and one dependent variable (the absenteeism percentage).

    hi, I am doing research 1 group of animal (N=5), to observe 5 of their behaviors in 3 different weeks (before stimulus (7days), during, after). so.
    How should I put the data entry? Also the data that I have for each behavior is the frequency of occurrence during observation period.
    Do i need to key in only the average of each behavior of horses per 1 day or per 1 week??

    1:35 - You selected the KW-test because the "dependent" variable is ordinal? I thought it had to do with the INdependent variable.. confused.

      +Zainab Alwathiqi The original alpha is divided by the number of independent variables to control for Type I error (i.e. that probability of a false positive).

    At my Mann-Whitney U output there are two sig valutes, one is Asymp. sig 2-tailed, and the other is Exact sig 2*1-tailed. Which one shoud I take to be certain?

      Mel W Either would be fine, but for a large sample the "Asymp. sig. 2-tailed" will provide more power.
