  • Discover the life of business pioneer and philanthropist Reginald F. Lewis, whose legacy includes a record-breaking corporate finance deal. With that single investment, Reginald F. Lewis became one of the wealthiest men in America in the 1980s. A Harvard Law School graduate, Lewis rose to prominence as a Wall Street lawyer, entrepreneur, and leader of the global food company TLC Beatrice International. Lewis was the first African American ever to close an overseas billion dollar leveraged buyout deal, when he acquired an unprecedented global conglomerate of 64 companies in 31 countries.
Lewis represented civil rights cases, donated generously to universities and to Jesse Jackson’s presidential bid, and paved the way for future entrepreneurs and Black leaders until his untimely death in 1993 at age 50.
This documentary features interviews with his family and leaders such as Rev. Benjamin Chavis, Ken Chenault, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Henry Kravis and Michael Milken.
This is a WLIW LCC production, with film narration by Norm Lewis. Executive Producer: Geraldine Moriba. Director: Ann Benjamin. Diane Masciale is vice president and general manager of WLIW.

Back in 2005, I was walking along the streets of Nairobi, Kenya, and chanced upon a hawker selling used books. One book titled "Why Should White Guys Have All the Fun" caught my attention. I bought it. It is one of the most inspiring books I've read. Reginald F. Lewis is a legend. 💯👌🏿

Just excellence. The race seems limiting. Plus I’m over the idolatry of our race/color. It’s not ok with God and on a much lesser sense the worldly pov, it’s shows lack of self esteem when you got to constantly acknowledge your race.

I've always felt there were those on Wall Street who resented Reggie Lewis' moves and goals. And then when you think about a black guy who was so rich he could do the one thing the black community rarely had... fund goals specifically targeting the growth of that community. Someone didn't like this. You see it in the "bumps in the road" on some of the deals he was pushing for. Its a conspiracy but when you see a one-man "Black Wall Street", you noticed they were both un-naturally taken down

Now today you have the billionaires robert f smith that is ceo of a private equity firm and david steward ceo of an I.T. firm. That is the major obstacle for any one try to star a business is capital, Especially for minority entrepreneurs now a days. You have to go through hoops and fire to get a large some of money from a bank or wealth fun. Mr. Lewis life should be taught in school and like many others after him to give young folks inspiration to stay in school and try to achieve their level best. This can have a positive impact on young folks to do better and stay out the streets and to not always try to go into sports.

So what? Those companies he ran employed black men and women, he contributed hundreds or thousands of dollars which would be millions of dollars now due to inflation, energy and time to black organizations, he used his legal training to defend black activist, donated his plane to civil rights black activists, his daughter runs a program to help educate black students, which is more than likely because of the money he left behind, and his story and the book, he took time to write that is distributed around the world, will continue to inspire young black men and women. What have you done in comparison and why would you even attempt to dismiss and diminish his story with a comment like that?
That comment says more about you and your glaring lack of insight, integrity, self-awareness, and lack of capacity to see the bigger. Your mindset is divisive and you’re even willing to attempt to sabotage your own with such a short-sighted comment…it’s sad really. The so called whites who you seem to think are you enemy don’t need to sabotage much when there are people like yourself floating around. Wake up skin color doesn’t matter no matter how much you are told it does. Stop feeding into the lie and the illusion. Free yourself!
Release the hate and jealousy than you will be able to see things with more clarity and less immature, childish, irrational, emotional projections.
Last but not least his wife loved him. He loved her. That’s what matters! Not skin color! 🙏✌️
