I’ve got 1 year and ~ 7k miles on my CDI+. Noticeable better behaved at low RPMs and functions flawlessly. Now I’m saving my coin for an A/C unit, I know my wife will appreciate everything but the cost.

Finally got around to installing the CDI+ (and coil) in my recently restored (engine, paint, interior) 1970 911T (Leaf Green). It was indeed a straight swap and the car fired up first time and I immediately noticed the difference - very happy. Now to get the fuse panels sorted, but that's a bigger job for another day.

Is the really high pitched noise from the first start-up coming from the old box? Mine does that as well... But everything works perfectly.

Yes classic Bosch CDI whine. It is normal and the lack of that noise is how most failed CDIs are diagnosed.

Do you offer a fitting service for the cdi unit?

You should be able to fit this yourself but any decent Porsche specialist can fit it.

Can you explain, for newbies, why you did the bespoke timing curve on the app? What's the purpose, etc? Thanks!

Adding a custom timing curve can improve engine performance.

Been following your product line, great additions! How would one improve an 86 turbo engine with a twin plug distributor for improved reliability with your tech? Currently running 2 msd 6AL ignition modules, could i replace with two of your units (ea coil)? Can i somehow retrofit a timing retard when the intake temps reach a certain temp? Also have you thought about using a BT app for tweaking or loading new maps?

Nice video and thanks for the upload. I am running your rear fuse panel on my 1977 911s (2,7). I added it after I rebuilt my engine a couple of years ago. It's only a small part but is really nice quality and I will be adding the rest of your ignition parts ASAP. Would you recommend that I upgraded my distributor to an electronic one too? I am still on the original (rebuilt) Bosch with points. Cheers, Jason.

Hi Jason, thanks for the positive comments. You could replace the points with electronic ignition - that is a definite upgrade. The Pelican forum has plenty of information on this.

I just downloaded the latest version of the CDI software and I am not able to connect my laptop to the cdi box. I am doing an upgrade to a long neck intercooler on a ‘78 930 turbo and decided to update my cdi firmware to prevent the 930 overheating shutdown issue. I am able to communicate with the cable and I updated the cable drivers that came with the software update. It gets to the point of ‘Connect to CDI’ and I plug in the cable with the black wire to the bottom of the box and then turn on the ignition on and nothing connects. I’m starting to wonder if somehow the box got reset or corrupted in the work process of installing the intercooler… not sure? How to test beyond that if I can’t yet run the car (it’s apart), and how do I connect to update the firmware ? Help greatly appreciated.

Off topic, but what color is that car?

It is Delphi Green as Grant says. A superb colour!
