    I am 79 years old and shooting a 60 lb self made longbow made by me and have had TP for a number of years, some sue to tumors on my brain and 5 operations to clear it up over the last 10 years. Arg! I have been following your advice with pulling without shooting for a month and have noticed some improvement. I am on vacation with no place to shot so it is all pulling with no shots. One month and a week to go before I get home to start shootings. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks, Rick 12:1

      I’m glad to hear you’re making improvements. It’s a tough journey. I still have bouts with it from time to time. Not taking the shot is hard.

    Wonderful advice. Controlling the shot is paramount. Thanks for bringing that out. Great exercise suggestion also.

    Great advice. Have been a trad shooter/hunter all my life. Struggled with "snap" shooting while practicing for a long time. Found slowing down and forcing myself to hold really fixed that. The let downs are great too. Ibstarted doing that just to stretch my back muscles before a practice session. Another help for me was shooting from random distance and angles. Take 5 arrows and toss them in all different directions between you and the target. Then walk to each arrow and shoot. Mix up positions and dont go from closest to farthest or right to left. Randomize it. Shoot the closest one on the right, then the farthest one on the left, ect. Made me much more confident when a deer walks into my area.

    This is my (about) fifth time listening to your video and, because I am on vacation, can only draw my bow without shooting. Will be home soon and am anxious to try the whole thing. Thanks for your help and I will let you know how it goes. Amen

    Thank you for making this video on target panic. I've struggled with target panic for as long as I can remember with my traditional bow. I'm 63 years old and tried just about everything including clickers, triggers etc. and nothing worked. I was about ready to give up on my traditional bow totally. I've watched your video on target panic and it has given me something else to work on and so far it is working. I just appreciate you sharing your knowledge and your experience, and maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel for me.

    Good video. Everyone has target panic or as Joel Turner calls it "pre-ignition movements." Its not something you get like a disease It really is a natural part of the human mind learning an activity and bracing for recoil, impact or explosions (sudden release of energy like a bow). Where people get into trouble is not separating the aim from the shot execution.
    So they will time it and shoot right when the aim is complete.....and that gets faster and faster until your snap shooting or doing drive by shooting if your lucky enough to get to full draw.
    The key is to be determined enough to make decisions to stay conscious in your shooting process. People do lots of drills including blind bale, let down and counting drills which will help people in the short term, but it rarely lasts until people get enough determination and knowledge of what their fighting against. (Their subconscious mind wanting to time an explosion)
    External triggers don't cover up any problems if you understand their role in shooting, which is to give you a surprise break with no pre-ignition movements. I recommend everyone take Joel Turner's course and do a deep dive into it.
    Shooting a bow, rifle or pistol in a precision environment is a mental skill, not a physical one.
    Great video and its good to see your channel growing!

    So when your at full draw are you static releasing or dynamic releasing with squeezing with back tension?

    • @EthanPageHunter
      @EthanPageHunter  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My back tension is still a work in progress. I have a whole video on this topic from last year that covers my whole release technique. That will cover everything I know and do.
