I made this for my daughter in a Throw size (about 40"x40") in a curry/beige/sand. She's got particular taste. But she has it in her living room over her linen couches ❤😂 now I'm making a natural color one in a baby size for her baby who is due in December 🎉
I made this in the same colour in worsted weight for our new granddaughter and it turned out beautifully! Thank you so much for generously sharing the free pattern. The young mother loved the gorgeous texture, as it has a cozy yet modern feel to it ❤️.
I'm currently crocheting this design,it's going like a dream,no mistakes and just has a lovely flow while working this,I definitely recommend this for beginners
Thank you very much! I am making this pattern for our new granddaughter Ridley. She is a week old and I’ve put off making one until now. The color is gorgeous and the stitches are very pretty and easy for a beginner like myself. God Bless.🙏🙏🙏
I have a new grandson due in January 🩵🩵 I have only made 1 crochet blanket in my life and I kept it for myself. I struggle with the first row always being tight and seems shorter than the rest going forward 🤦🏻♀️ I really want to make a blanket for the baby but I also want it to look GOOD! I love this pattern and hope to make it🙏🏻
Aww congratulations! Yeah, the first row can always be a bit tricky with tension and all. I like to keep my chain very loose, you could maybe go up a hook size and then switch back to the hook size recommended in the pattern for the second row. I've also seen people make a chainless foundation chain, it's where you go straight into making the stitches. So those might be a few options that could help with making the first row. 😊
Thank you! I think this project will help because it doesn't take to long and you're repeating two sections for the whole pattern. So it makes it easy in that sense, but it will also keep you engaged. In other words, I don't think you'll get bored. 😊 Also, if your interested, here is a post I wrote when you don't know what to crochet (might help with getting the crochet mojo back) : jewelsandjones.com/10-things-to-crochet-when-youre-bored/
This is so beautiful and looks easy enough to adapt for other projects! Tremendously grateful to all of you that share your tutorials. Many thanks!! ❤️
I made this in a worsted weight yarn as well. It turned out great. I had to work the edges with larger hook to even it out, but I’m so happy with it. I put 3 rows of border to help even it out more.
this blanket is beautiful I seen a finished project on Coco's Crochet channel and fell in love with this suzette stitch. I have never seen it before. This is now on my to do list thank you
Hi there, in the pattern I explain what to do for the border. But I also have a blog post/video tutorial on how to make a single border. Here's the link: jewelsandjones.com/single-crochet-border-tutorial/
Thank you for sharing this beautiful crochet blanket tutorial ! You are so talented, and all your crochet works are gorgeous ! You are a marvelous crochet teacher ! 😊💗
Beautiful pattern ! Can you tell me what size hook to use if I’m using lion brand pound of love yarn for this pattern? The recommended hook on the label is 6mm.
Hi there, I would personally make a gauge swatch and see if you need to go up a hook size or go down a hook size (my gauge is listed in the pattern). Yarn weights vary so much, so I would personally make a gauge swatch. This way your blanket also turns out the same as the pattern. 😊
Loving this for a baby blanket I am making. After three rows of double crochet, do you chain one and turn to start the 7th row? Or chain 3? Thank you for the easy to follow swatch. The small example is a great idea!!
Thank you. 😊 So yes, you're going to alternate after making three rows of double crochet and 3 rows of the suzette stitch. Here are the written instructions for the pattern: jewelsandjones.com/simple-crochet-baby-girl-blanket-free-pattern/
Thank you so much for responding. I checked the pattern but my problem is when I get to the last stitch of the rows. So single crochet, chain one and turn at the end of Suzette rows. Chain 4-5 is it double on last stitch and chain 3 and turn and continue with the double crochet in the very first stitch and next 3 rows? My blanket is looking like a cape doing that ☹️
Hi Nicky! I have a question about the 2nd row of double crochet. Does our last DC of row 2 go in the last DC of the first row OR the chain 3? This is something that always confuses me, even when I watch tutorials.
Hi there, I've always loved a simple single crochet border for this pattern since it's quite textured. But I also think a picot stitch border or a crab stitch border would look good as well. Here are the links for the tutorials: single crochet border: jewelsandjones.com/single-crochet-border-tutorial/ Picot stitch border: jewelsandjones.com/crochet-picot-stitch-border-tutorial/ Crab stitch border: jewelsandjones.com/crab-stitch-border-tutorial/ I hope that helps! Good luck😊
I made this with Bernat Softee Cotton in the color Sandstone (yarn I had on hand already). It came out beautiful. In the meantime I did pick up Yarn Bee Bambootiful in Rose and will make another.
Does the chain 3 count as a DC? You insert the hook in the first stitch and not in the second? When I do this my blanket is turning round at the sides.
Hi there, chain 3 does not count as a double crochet stitch. You want to make your double crochet in the last stitch. So you're going to place it in the last single crochet from the previous row. The last stitch can sometimes be a little hard to see, because it's almost on the outer edge. I would put a stitch marker on the last stitch (sc) and this way it's easier to see when you're making your double crochet rows. I hope this helps! 😊
Are you including your chain three in the double crochet row as a stitch or the first double crochet in that first stitch is considered your first and last stitches in the rows
Hi there, I think it looks really nice. I've seen some finished photos of this pattern in two colors, and it looks really good. I would recommend either picking two muted colors or two bright colors, but honestly it''s up to you and what your prefer. 😊
I’m a bit confused, does the 3 chain on the DC row count as a stitch or do I only end up with the 119 total stitches per row? I would be grateful for a quick response 😊 you don’t mention this that I can see.
Absolutely! Here's an example of one I made with different yarn and a different hook size: jewelsandjones.com/easy-textured-crochet-blanket-free-pattern/
Somehow i keep losing stitches even though I'm counting and following the pattern to a T. It keeps happening on my row of sussette stitches. Any tips on how i can avoid doing this over and over?
Hi there, yes, I would add a stitch marker to the last stitch on the last row of your double crochet sections. The last stitch of the suzette stitch is almost on the side of the row (it's a bit slanted), which makes it's hard to see. You can even add a stitch marker to the last stitch when starting this section. I hope this helps! 😊
Hello, I'm not sure if you're missing a stitch, but sometimes I find that the last stitch is almost hidden and looks like a chain 1 when working the Suzette Stitch. Just a tip, but sometimes I like to add a stitch marker to my first stitch and last stitch in the row. I find this really helpful.
HI! I really like to do this but i have tried couple of times already but i am always off with the double crochet.I read that the 3 chains is not included with the counting so with your example of 12 chains, i ended up with 11 double crochet plus the the 3 chains. Is that correct .Thanks
Hi! this took me so long to figure out, but I finally got it. The first row of chains you chain an even number, then on the second row you go to the second chain and follow the pattern, so you have 1 less stitch than you chained (if you chained 120, you now have 119 stitches). So when you get to the rows of double crochets you should have an odd number.
Yes, you can definitely add a border. I did a single crochet border around my blanket. There are some wonderful tutorials on TH-cam on how to make a single crochet border and some other borders.
Hi there, you can make the video slower on the bottom of the screen. It'll make my sentences slower as well, but it should help with seeing the stitches a bit better. 😊

Oh that's a great idea! I hope you enjoy making the baby blanket. 😊
Thank you for the pattern. I made it in blue tones. It looks amazing.

Lovely pattern. Heirloom quality and you are a good teacher.
Thank you so much! ✨ I hope you enjoy making it.
Can you provide a link to the lovely label you used for this blanket?
@@Cyndrome11 Thank you! I actually found the label at my local Hobby Lobby in the craft section.
This seems easy to follow
Thank you! It's a really fun and easy blanket to make. 😊

I would love to see a “baby boy blanket” similar to this lovely pattern a masculine version
That's such a great idea! Thank you. All see what I can do 😊.
I did the pattern in blue…
Will this pattern work for a boy as well?
Thank you so much , very pretty❤❤❤

Ok, perfect! 😊 Good luck with the blanket!
This is so pretty, many thanks!
Thank you so much! 😊
My edges didn’t come out at straight it’s wavy why
Hi there, I'm thinking your tension was a little tight. Did you meet gauge in the pattern?
Do you have any recommendations for a border for this beautiful blanket? 😊

How many rows from start to finish ? Is this blanket? ❤
Hi there, you can find the free written pattern here with all the directions: jewelsandjones.com/simple-crochet-baby-girl-blanket-free-pattern/
Are you including your chain three in the double crochet row as a stitch or the first double crochet in that first stitch is considered your first and last stitches in the rows
Hi there, your chain 3 does not count as a stitch.
How would a color change look with this?
Hi there, I think it looks really nice. I've seen some finished photos of this pattern in two colors, and it looks really good. I would recommend either picking two muted colors or two bright colors, but honestly it''s up to you and what your prefer. 😊

Hi there, the chain 3 does not count as a double crochet stitch.
If i wanted to make this in a throw size blanket, how many chains would the foundation chain need to be?
Hi there, I'm currently working on more sizes for this pattern 😊. But the multiple for this blanket is 2.
Does the chain 3 count as a stitch?
Hi there, it does not count as a stitch.
Would it work with self striping yarn?
Hi there, yes this pattern will definitely work with a self striping yarn.
Where did you buy your 100% homemade tags?
Hi, I bought them at Hobby Lobby.
Can I do the same pattern with a different yarn?

Hi there, the multiple for this blanket is 2. 😊
I am one stitch short on the second row. There is only one stitch left when I get to the end. Tried it several times. The first row is fine. :/

I am new to crochet, and I am curious why my product is coming out so curved!? Is it my tension?
Hi there, it could definitely be your tension. I would make a couple of practice swatches to help even out your tension and then start the project. 😊✨
Do you put a border on this?
Yes, you can definitely add a border. I did a single crochet border around my blanket. There are some wonderful tutorials on TH-cam on how to make a single crochet border and some other borders.
