    If I change the wheels from hub pilot to stub pilot, all I need is new bolt(s)? I have few stud wheels for my Ford dually conversion and all the 8 - 10 wheel adaptors I can find are "hub pilot(as per sellers on Ebay')"

    • @Buytruckwheels
      @Buytruckwheels  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you would need to use hub piloted wheels with hub piloted adapters. Even though the dimensions are similar they are not exactly the same so the wheel will not center properly on the hub.

      Thanks, do you guys sell stud pilot adaptors for Ford F350 (2000) dually?

    Some trucks have the square ended studs with left vs right handed threads on each side. Is that a budd wheel?

    • @Buytruckwheels
      @Buytruckwheels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great Question! Yes those are Budd (Stud Pilot) Wheels

      BuyTruckWheels.com thank you! Reason why i asked is because o have that exact style on a 2010 Isuzu npr hd i literally just bought today for my business. Ive been reading up on the systems and trying to familiarize myself with the truck and it has that style in the rear. Thank you!!!

      yes the inner cap nut will have a square end which i believe 13/16 this is required in dual assemblies... the inner cap nut fastens the inside wheel on the hub with and then the outside wheel goes on then outer cap nut fastens that wheel on

    I have a 1996 F350 dually. I just bought 24” wheels that are stud piloted, can i buy hub piloted adapters and use them with my stud piloted wheels but with a cone type lug nut?

    • @pkuzio3
      @pkuzio3 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do not believe that would be safe. Also hub pilot adapters will have 22mm studs and there are not stud pilot nuts that fit those studs. Stud pilot nuts fir 7/8 or 1 1/8" Studs.

      pkuzio3 i can’t find adapters for stud piloted wheels for my 1996 f350

    • @pkuzio3
      @pkuzio3 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SparksM3dia Yes people do not make stud pilot adapters. You'll need to find some hub pilot wheels.

    • @SparksM3dia
      @SparksM3dia 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      pkuzio3 that’s we’re I’m confused, i have wheel adapters that fit the wheels right now. They just don’t fit my truck

    • @pkuzio3
      @pkuzio3 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SparksM3dia Someone must have made them custom to fit those wheels. Try Tennessee Wheel and tire they can probably make you some custom adapters.

    So the stud has the nuts securing the hub from rotating and movement.
    Whereas the hub although centered on the hub if the nuts somehow loosen enough or enough torque is applied to the wheel.
    The wheel can move slightly depending on how much space there is between the studs and the hole where it should be centered with a collared nut. Instead of a two piece washered nut
    Let me ask this.
    How much room/space between the studs and the holes should there be on a hub pilot wheel.
    If you have a quarter to a half inch all the way around the stud.
    It should be secured with a collared nut. Something that takes up the slack off the space between the hole and the stud.

    • @Buytruckwheels
      @Buytruckwheels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you are correct on a hub pilot wheel if the nuts get loose the wheel could rotate. There is a company called Tru-Balance that makes centering collars like the ones you are describing that can help if you are having an issue keeping your lug nuts tight and the wheel rotating.

      The standard since around 2000 has been hub pilot. It can carry more weight and the wheels last longer.

  • @paulkuzio4213

    No you always want to use the correct style rims for your truck. It would not be safe to use hub piloted wheels on a stud piloted set up.

    • @drpurk
