This actually already exists too in a Modpack Called "Speev's Industrial Revolution" there's a weather mod that has Tornado's that will destroy the terrain by lifting blocks, grass, mobs etc off the ground, and even drag you in, and throw you up in the twister.
It's really scary, and fun. Although as a result you have to build underground more, to avoid your house getting shredded
