- In 1945 (here Okinawa). Human resources that can be "put into the cauldron" of war are coming to an end, so the higher ranks give the go-ahead for the formation of a detachment of boys aged 13-15 (Such a Japanese equivalent of the German Hitlerjugend). Children are drilled physically and, of course, they are well-brainwashed in order to stifle everything human and the ability to make decisions on their own: only orders.. !Some of them are still alive today!.
This anime is a snippet of true documentary stories from interview of surviving child soldiers of the Imperial Japanese Army.
I will add that as children, like some Japanese soldiers, they were fanatics (there are cases in history that some Japanese soldiers continued to fight and were loyal to the emperor until the end of the twentieth century on numerous Pacific islands), sometimes without even knowing that the war ended on September 2, 1945 ...

They were a child soldier unit called Gokyotai who was active in Okinawa.
They are guerrilla units engaged in reconnaissance and surprise attacks by taking advantage of their young appearance, and were selected from local junior high school and high school students.
This gets darker when you realize the Marines had no clue they were shooting and killing kids in that pillbox

those are not child anymore as they hold a gun to shot you and your marines friends obvouisly you can called them child murderer but they had no choice it's a battlefield personnally i won't hesitate it this was the case

I must admit. I am impressed. Normally, the Japanese would deny ever committing any atrocities during WWII. So this was surprising to see.
Officially they don't. But many Japanese individuals do. Their is a big political movement over there over it.
It's quite weird in recent days, I used to be taught in school that how my country had made chaos in Asia including against our own people. Now no one wants to talk about it.

Yeah, most anime I've seen that feature WWII tend to focus on the atomic bombs and their aftermath. They conveniently skip the many crimes against humanity their government committed leading up to that.
They should make an English subtitled version of this anime on DVD in North America. It's important to hear both sides of this horrific war.

Most likely they want no one to realize they used child soldiers and probably they don’t want any media knowing they committed war crimes

True fact:My country,Thailand 'd child soldier call "Yuwachon Thahan" in WW2 too.and they'd fighting together with Thai army, Thai police and Thai people against The Imperial Japanese Army in morning on December 8, 1941.They're very brave and sacrifice.I and other Thai people won't forget their bravery and I prond of them so much.
The sad thing is thare sacrifice achieved nothing as Thailand made peace with Japan soon after and let the Japanese send thare troops through as they pleased

Don't put every Eastern Army as the same like that, bro. There are good guys and bad guys army, and the Imperial Japan Army maybe bad at that time, but there are many Eastern army which are very good, too.
Japan was desperate at that time. German and most of the Eastern Europe countries had to force children into combat. I wouldn't be that categorical then. No one can tell what horrors we'd be able to use in times of despair.
Also, many japanese children suffered at the hands of Western soldiers.
@Lord Admiral Spire I'm fully aware of that. It doesn't justify the suffering of japanese civilians (I do not mean it was wrong to fight japan. Only that all sides suffer from war and that's a general waste).

Even tho this music is about the Defense Forces of my country (Brazil), where 17 brazilian soldiers fougthed against 40 colombians. Even tho they lost, they standed against until the last man capable to shot the enemy
It's not. It doesn't specify wich country the song is about, it's a military song that can fit into any military conflict.
It is sad to see child soldiers have to carry arms, telling by adult that they fight for their causes.

You may wonder why your country is being invaded, in the case of Japan it was because they had acted as imperialist conquerors, in addition to endless atrocities, obviously children, civilians and private soldiers are the least guilty of this situation. The fault lies with the high command of the military and the rulers.
My grandfather(we're Scottish)served from D-Day +1(7th June 1944) right through till the end of the war inside Germany. During that time his then only child died back in Scotland from measles(no,he did not get to go home for leave to grieve)and he took part in the horrific liberation of Bergen Belsen,15,000 or so murdered innocents,he went through it all.
But still when he and his unit came across Hitler youth troops their initial impulse was to treat them a bit like wayward 13 yr olds. Some units cut their combat trousers into shorts ,put lipstick on them and told them to go home to mummy. Big mistake.
My grandfather and his mates swiftly realised the Hitler youth were a mixed bunch,some just wanted to surrender,some were disarmed by the LOCAL Germans and made to surrender. But others were fanatical and well led. And you never knew which was which initially in many cases,so my grandad and his mates took the opinion that a bullet from a 50 year old rifle in a 13year olds hands could kill as easy as a bullet from a modern gun in a fanatical SS man's hands,so they shot first. Sometimes after killing of wounding a Hitler youth soldier a mass of little hands ,white flags and sobs would be the reply,other times a mass of fire from captured and refurbished soviet MGs and rifles was the reply. It just depended.

Привет! Ахах, все есть норм. Я общаюсь здесь из людьми, как им удобно, на их родном. Канал есть Freedom ( свобода ), кто как хочет ( только без оскорблений конешно). Как тебе удобно, так и общайся, я ответил по русском, потому что знать, что ти так общаешься.))
Даа, моя дисертация написана по военной подготовке в 1920-1930 х годах учениц (европейских стран). Хотя мальчики тоже в дисертации для сравнения показал. В основном ето Польша, изучал и Германия, Италия и тд.
Так-от 4 года я изучал вопрос, даже брал интервю у престарелих полячков , немок из Hitlerbundesmädel und Hitlerjugend и тд.
Все они до сих пор тоскуют по том времени, их детство прошло весело для них, много льгот, дружба, нет зла до соотечественников. В Италии сейчас сотни заброшених когда-то бесплатних детских военно- оздоровительних лагерей, поросших кустами и травой, создан когда-то Мусоллинни и тд. Их действительно учили и очень хорошо. Но вот идеология..то катастрофа.
Я год в Австрии работать по дисертации и там тоже все то видел заброшенное и даже видео много снимал, иногда даже встречал перекрашенное фрески-пропаганду девушек-арийок, и много другое. Думал еще один канал делать, чтоб видео показать людям, про прошлое военной подготовки девушек и мальчиков. Но сьемки часто незаконно делал, поетому боюсь на ютуб)))
Воопшем тема с детьми Hitlerjugend очень интересна, и есть смислом жизни.
