- We are in Sault Ste. Marie for the St. Marys River Grand Slam. We created this challenge that consists of paddling, hiking, fishing and finding a freighter, with a bonus if it is a 1,000 footer. We start at Rotary Park in Saul Ste. Marie, Michigan and paddle the islands and stop to hike on Voyager Island. Voyager Island offers hiking trails and great views of the freighters and is only accessible by a paddled vessel like a canoe, kayak, etc. We were able to see two freighters , the classic Phillip R. Clarke and the 1,000 footer, the Edwin H. Gott. The most challenging part of completing the challenge, fishing! We brought in an expert to help with that and share some secrets of fishing in the area along with the Barker Barker, the salute from the James R. Barker. #saultstemarie

So many words of wisdom.
These videos are the best.
Thank you!
Words of wisdom never heard 😂
I like both styles of lake freighters, but the only one that semi combines the two styles is Stubby (Stewart J. Cort.) Favorite old style for me, by a long way, is the Wilfred Sykes. As for Clydes vs West End, only way to really know is do both... several times... for years :).
You guys make the best videos! Everything is fun and an adventure... Hope to run into you both at some point on my treks to the Mitten or UP!
Thank you very much!
Nick.. you were being a little disrespectful to your Dad but it was hilarious 😂
